That comment manages to break Bastian's mood and he answers it with uproarious laughter!

Liri's face lights up, too, and she offers Galanis a graceful smile "And a good sense of humor, too" she tells him.

Galanis answers Liri with a broader smile and then he turns his attention to the other mercenaries waiting their responses.

Angel moves up behind Liri, wrapping her sword arm around the Elfs waist. "We leave in the morning, Master Fraso has a cart and I assume his staff will join him. Do you all have mounts?" She asks in a matter of fact tone.

Calah says, "I cannot speak for the others, but I do not have a mount."

"Perhaps that's something that can be arranged.." She glances at Fraso.. she doubted it.

Galanis says, "I have a horse," Glancing at Calah, "and since you are pretty thin I think it could hold both of us, if you would allow that, but it might hinder the speed and distance we travel each day. So this is another possibility." He concludes facing Angel.

"That would be acceptable to me," says Calah.

"Daos had a horse. Nobody is using it any more," Papa says, his voice emotionless. "You mind riding a dead man's horse?"

Calah says, "So long as he's not riding it with me."

Angel gives Calah a glance, her eyes going dark as she frowns. "Master Daos is dead. He went to his final rest while we were indisposed."

"I suggest you are introduced to his mount, and some will need to ride double... Master Bastians noble steed will keep us at a steady pace."

"Cart will be lighter, now that we don't have to carry a corpse and all that ice. Anyone without a horse can ride in the cart," says Papa.

Fraso clears his throat and once he has the group's attention, says: "Perhaps the candidates would wait in the tavern, so that I might discuss which three of you will be hired."

After the candidates leave the courtyard, Fraso speaks quietly. "The big man...he is a northern tribesman. That might cause trouble in the capital. I expect that could be dealt with, but there is another problem. His necklace is made of human bones. And some of them appear to have been gnawed on."

While waiting in the tavern Galanis asks the other mercenaries, "Does any of you have a deck of cards? Or would you like some arm wrestling? Money will be involved of course..." he adds with a knowingly look.

"Well I can't lie, that gives me serious concerns, although he's unlikely to eat us.. " Angel shakes her head in a dismissive manner, "The concern is there."
