Van is considering leaving the room since it wasn't fully explored.

But he will back away 10' from Bryce checking the chest.

Watching Van Galan says with a smile and wink, "Hmm... I guess you know your brothers' work..." and gestures to the others to step back. "I still wonder why the chest opens from its bottom. Maybe we should turn it upside down first. Can you check if there is mechanism on the wall holding it or on the floor underneath it one more time before opening it?"

[The chest is partly sunken into the wall, and appears not designed to be removed.]

[OK, it has been almost 3 weeks since SQL posted, and everyone else seems to be waiting on Bryce]

Bryce checks the chest again, just to be certain there are no undiscovered traps. He presses the latch with the hilt of a dagger, effectively bypassing the known poison-needle. The side of the box flops down, revealing the inside of the container... which appears empty.

OOC - Sorry about that, no excuses really. I should have found the time to post something.

"Check inside. Maybe you should throw something in first." Galan suggests.

Bryce will flip the dagger in his hand gripping it by the pommel and gently probe the interior of the box, swishing the blade through the interior of the box to ensure appearances match reality.

Bryce prods the box with his dagger and feels something hard inside that is invisible. After feeling around more, it seems to be a lever of some kind
