CH. 15 - Before the Dawn

Kendra draws her two blades as she looks over the four soldiers that are within the room. "Keep at least one of them alive," Kendra says to her group before she moves in to attack the first human in front of her.

"Oh? And which deity is that?" asks Coroccoco.

"As for dragonlances, no. We have neither access to the metal used to forge them, nor the technique needed," she says. "You seem very discouraged about fighting back against the occupation. You would prefer to live under their iron fist than do anything that might be dangerous?"

Kendra and Tulbas (Harbor District)
"No promises!" Raena replies with a grin. A battle quickly breaks out. The spellcasters, Magnus, Tulbas and Nora sit back and watch. Kendra, despite her earlier words, cuts down one guard easily. Another one attacks her, and she easily evades. Raena and Burzan each take on a different guard. Yvette and Xyleena take pot shots with their crossbows.

Gobax (Harbor District)
Whether Shima chooses to follow him or not, Gobax heads out into the streets to follow the Kendra, Tulbas and the others. They head to the harbor district, and come upon an abandoned looking building, falling into disrepair. Gobax realizes this is the same address the resistance had given him to come to earlier. Kendra immediately kicks down the door and a fight breaks out with the four armed people inside.

Tulbas still remembers Raena and Burzan trying to kill him, so he is not anxious to help her dealing with her guard. Kendra seems to handle herself easily, but he is still readies himself to help her in case her next opponent will last longer than one swing.

Shima follows and scampers to catch up with Gobax and whispers, "Do you have the faintest idea what in the Abyss is going on here? And why?"

Kendra seems slightly surprised at how fast the guard she was fighting went down, but she moves on to the next (guard 4). This one, she uses the flat of her blades to try to knock the man out.

It becomes very apparent to Kendra that these guards are not well trained soldiers like herself. They are just regular people wearing leather and carrying blades. She easily strikes down her next opponent, knocking the woman unconscious.

Kendra comes up behind the guard that is attacking Raena, and attacks with her swords even though she feels bad about this outcome. It was clear that these people were not trained for a situation like this, and they weren't expecting the dark army to suddenly burst in on them.

Tulbas keeps watching if Kendra will need help, although the chances for that are slim.

Before Kendra can act again, Yvette and Xyleena fire their crossbows at the remaining two guards, killing them. The battle is over just like that.

"One of you get the one I knocked out tied up to a chair or something. Maybe we can get some useful information out of him," Kendra says. "And we need to look for the entrance to the sewers."

Nora heads straight to the single, rather conspicuous rug on the floor and moves it aside, revealing a trap door beneath it. "Found it."

Meanwhile, Burzan ties up the surviving woman to a chair and starts smacking her to try and wake her up, but to no avail.

"Is it just me, or are these rebels really bad at being rebels?" Kendra asks as she looks towards the entrance towards the sewers that was so easily found. "I mean, these guards were probably the easiest foes I have faced."

"They are not trained soldiers." Tulbas assumes and thinks to himself, 'Only simple citizens pissed off about the occupation.'

"I was hoping that woman would tell us who their leader was," Kendra admits as she motions to the unconscious guard. "But it doesn't look like she is waking up anytime soon. I guess that means we should go ahead an proceed into the sewers."

"They are as weak as their ideology," Burzan notes. "Before the power of the Dragon Queen, they are but mice. No wonder they dwell in the sewers like vermin. They will be crushed easily."

"Who wants to go first?" asks Raena, gesturing to the sewer entrance.

Gobax and Shima (Harbor District)
Gobax doesn't answer Shima right away, as he watches the battle end. The occupation group easily wins. They then head inside the building, closing the door behind them.
