Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
Gobax nods and readies his sling, motioning for the dwarf to go first since he has a melee weapon.

Shima advances and does the usual with the door.
(Listen, check for/disarm traps, try the door, pick any locks).

Tulbas follows Magnus quietly. He is curious how life will proceed. Picking the Black Robes is a life changing act almost like being reborn.

Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
"I don't have the answers to those questions," Kendra says with a sigh. "As for a trial...well he was," she pauses for a moment as she knows that he was most likely tortured. "...questioned."
Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
Somewhere deep in his mind the thought would have popped up that Haahqae just got access to a whole new library with an amazing amount of exclusive books that are sure to be almost completely unguarded; and with all those books the prefect wouldn’t miss one missing book right?
But… this thought doesn’t surface into Haahqae conscious mind, for his quest is much more important and all-consuming then a petty feeling of being able to take advantage of the situation. What he’s concerned with is that solitary servant slowly moving around the bookshelves. As soon as said servant is out of sight; Haahqae gets to work on the locked door to see what he can find within.
(Pick the lock of the second door to the west)

Haahqae (Prefect's Mansion)
Picking the lock, Haahqae opens it to reveal a staircase leading up to the second floor.
============
Haahqae attempts to pick the lock on the west door [TN 70%] (1d100): 46, pass.
Kendra Synclair (Grand Market)
Pen frowns at this. "Well, in any case, I did what you asked and looked into the thieves' guild and the trade guild. I waited and waited, but you never came back to our rendezvous point. Did you forget about it?"
Tulbas Erogund (Tower of Wayreth, Unknown Floor on AT 15)
Once Tulbas and Magnus enter his room, he closes the door. "So then, I see that even after all I have done for you, you still foolishly cling to the idea that you can kill me. You realize, of course, had that been real, you never would have taken me down so easily. And what's more, even if you somehow had, you'd never be able to return to Haven again without my protection, yes?" He approaches Tulbas menacingly, towering over the young elf.
Gobax and Shima (Warehouse)
Last time Shima came across this lock, it was too complex for him to even try it. But he has learned a few tricks since that first day he descended down here with Felran and Ne-Chanz a month ago, and this time he's able to unlock it. Pushing the grate open, he has opened a shortcut to the next area.
===========
Shima attempts to pick the good (-20%) padlock [OL 30%] (1d100): 3, pass.
(OOC: To answer your question, Tristen, the church is about two miles west-southwest of where they are now.)

"We should go this way," says Shima, leading north and repeats the door process (Listen, check for/disarm traps, try the door, pick any locks) on the north door.
Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
Haahqae will go into the room, attempt to lock the door behind him (leave it closed either way) then climb the stairs to see what's on the second floor.

Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
"I have been a little distracted lately," Kendra says. "But, what did you find out?"
Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
"I realize that Master. I was consumed by anger. I think the trial helped me in a way to purge this anger out of my system." Tulbas says thoughtfully. "About my intelligence... I do listen to all your teaching and I learnt a lot and also used it during the trial while I was fighting Jinali. I thank you for that."
Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
Haahqae (Prefect's Mansion)
Climbing the stairs, Haahqae reaches the second floor. He's in the west wing, and there is little activity here. Just a couple of servants moving about, cleaning. North of him, there is a door to the west and the east. South of him is are two hallways extending eastward and a hallway extending southward.
Kendra Synclair (Grand Market)
"Not much," the kender admits, crossing his arms. "The thieves guild is having a schism. Necolai and his side want to try and continue operations under the occupation's nose. There's another faction that wants to fight against the occupation led by a woman named Fiona. For now, Necolai's faction seems to be coming out on top. As for the trade guild, I couldn't really find anything to prove they are innocent. Sorry."
Tulbas Erogund (Tower of Wayreth, Unknown Floor on AT 15)
"Your emotions are weakness," Magnus informs him. "And weakness will not be tolerated. Your people--former people--were weak, and now their home is in ashes and they are scattered to the winds. Your uncle was weak, and he is now dead. If you hope to survive, you must shed such weaknesses. If you wish to obtain strength in the future, you must first discard the past. And that includes old grudges, understand?"
Gobax and Shima (Underground River)
Shima finds no new locks or traps on the door, so the two continue within. After a curving tunnel, they emerge into the next area, where Felran lost his life.

Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
Shima proceeds to the next southern door and just opens it. If nothing untoward he beckons and leads his companion to the northern door at the western edge of this area, again just opening the door and leading onward.

Grubnick follows, weapon ready and eyes watchful
Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
With little indication of where Ismene could be being held, Haahqae decides it probably isn't the rooms that the servants are likely to be cleaning right now, so he tries the doors to the 2 rooms to the north of him first. He might have to check the entire building to find her.

Re: CH. 14: Darkest Hour
Kendra lets out a deep sigh, but forces a smile towards the kender. "You tried, so that is what matters. Maybe...if I can get Norris out at least, he can look for a way to free the rest of the trade guild since he is a member and all."
