WotL OOC Thread III

This 2E Dragonlance game is set in the city of Haven, during the War of the Lance. Haven is a city undergoing great upheaval. First massive numbers of refugees pour in, then the city is conquered by a draconic army. Can our heroes survive under this dark occupation?

And a note on Haahqae's motives in the last post:

At this point he's trying other options (mass performance, heist) to get steel so he's not overly trying to impress the snobish innkeeper of his skills (for reason of getting paid gigs at this inn later). He might have considered this a fringe benefit of his performance if he was in a better move, or as a necessary bonus if he was a little more depressed, but I think at this point he's in just the state of mind where he wouldn't even think of that added bonus to this performance.

If, later he's hoping to get a better inn that pays its performers more, he might remember this performance and figure he has a chance at getting paid gigs at the Masked Dragon (I think that even if he fails the proficiency check to make it an exceptional performance it can still be an adequate performance unless he gets really unlucky). This however, is not something he's thought about yet.

Likewise, he may have considered it necessary to prove that snob wrong about his opinion on the plebianism of juggling if he had some more time to think about the performance, but given the time he has and how focused he is on the balance between pleasing Ismene and the Baaz, he hasn't enough time to think about the innkeeper's reaction.

Are there currently Baaz or other draconians in the inn common room?

Yes, the same ones as before. They haven't left yet, they're still drinking and carousing.

Does Haaque live in the Steel Tankard Inn? Or High Hand Inn?

Haahqae stays at the Steel Tankard. Gobax, Felran and Ne-Chanz all stay at the High Hand.

It's ok, we understand. A least you haven't been kidnapped..
Chris1234 wrote:What time is it? I think, Ne-Chanz, you should buy lunch for the three of us and some torches, enough to last you until curfew. What do you think, guys?"
The suggestion about torches was serious - that's mandatory if we're going to finish sweeping the sewers IMO.

The bit about food was in all honesty trying it on, but quite justified from Shima's perspective, namely he's taken a beating doing a job in which he has no equity and is without pay and he's hungry so asking someone to buy a meal when you're risking your life on their behalf isn't unreasonable.

Delarn ;) wrote:"Aye, it's a good idea. And fortunately, holly berries are plentiful all year long, even in the winter. Tossing a few down on the soldiers could really help make things more chaotic."

The nearest building would be the cobbler's shop, although it's not abandoned. But if they were to climb up onto the roof, they'd get a great view of things. Throwing bottles from the roof might be too far, unless he has an amazing throwing arm. However, if he were to use his sling...
Is the Holly Berries comment a euphemism and joke from Delarn about the fire-bombs, or is he actually talking about edible warfare?

Is there any cover from the roof of the cobbler's shop, or will we be exposed?

Holly berries are the material component for the spell Fire Trap. He just meant that they should be able to make as many bottles as needed.

The only cover is the chimney, which is further back, so hiding behind it would reduce the range needed to throw stuff.

Why am I getting the feeling that Haahqae will soon have yet another reason to not like the other player characters soon?

When Shima can find you he will come to one of your performances. But you need to tell him that you're doing them...

Well he has been spending 3 days touring as many inns as possible in the city, telling as many people (specifically baaz) about his performance as he possibly can. He hasn't had time to try and hunt down one person he doesn't know except for a brief introduction prior to one of the biggest disasters in Haahqae's short term memory (he doesn't really use any other kind). After all, his fans have ways to find out about the performances that he's advertising right?
