"That grease was a state of the art gnomish invention which uses hyper metabolism and molecular bond thinners to spread the grease over a large area very quickly. However unfortunately due to the nature of the device, it tends to dry out very quickly and nearly dissolve so that it's very hard to find any traces of it afterwards." Haahqae quickly explains before agreeing to listen at the door.

Someday he's going to have to tell Ismene. That's not going to be an easy conversation.

Action: Detect noise by door.

Haahqae, Arulia, Gobax, Felran and Ne-Chanz (Deserted Building)
Gobax patches up Ne-Chanz's leg while Arulia removes the arrow from her armor. She has no bandages, so she tears off some of her cloak to patch herself up. She feels a little better afterward.

Haahqae moves to the door and listens carefully, but does not hear anything from the other side.

Gobax uses a healing check on Ne-Chanz [TN 14] (1d20): 15, fail. No HP is restored but one bandage is consumed.
Arulia uses a healing check on herself [TN 11] (1d20): 6, pass. She restores (1d3): 2 HP and tears off some of her cloak to use as a bandage. Her condition improves from moderately wounded to lightly wounded.
Haahqae makes a Detect Noise check at the door [TN 25%] (1d100): 19, pass. He doesn't hear anything.

Kendra Greylock (Haven's Vale)
"Anyone else?" asks Krup, looking around once they have all gathered in one spot.

"I found this," Perp offers, extending his claw and revealing some tufts of fur. "I think it's wolf fur--maybe dire wolf fur?"

Slinn adds, "I think that blood trails to the north. Almost like someone dragged whatever was bleeding there."

Krup scratches his chin in thought. "So maybe a dire wolf attacked someone else. They killed it and dragged its corpse away."

"Or the wolf killed them and dragged them away," Tern adds.

"But no proof that the elves were involved," Grev points out.

"Still, it's the only lead we have so far. We should follow the blood trail," Krup orders. "Perp, you're our tracker, so you take point this time."

"You just have a whole slew of skills up your sleeve don't you?" Kendra asks Perp as she follows after him.

Perp looks away from Kendra, unable to face her. She gets the impression he would be blushing, if draconians could blush.

The group follows the blood trail northward, away from the river. As they are walking, Grev sidles up next to her and matches her pace. "So..," he begins. "You're a female. What's that like?" he asks.

~How am I suppose to answer that question?~ Kendra asks herself as she looks at Grev. The expression on her face is rather priceless as it is a mixture of pure confusion and thinking that he was a complete idiot. "Not any different than from being male, I guess?" she says. "Except we have breasts and our privates are a little more protected than yours."

Arulia finishes patching her shoulder, shaking her head sadly at the thought of tearing up her cloak. "Mother will have a fit," she thinks. Still, it was her own fault for forgetting to bring cloth for the purpose. "It has been too long. I seem to be out of practice."

Standing, Arulia looks around at her companions. The goblin has seen to the gnome woman already, it seems, but she can't tell if any of the rest of the party have need. Quietly, so she doesn't disturb Haahqae as he listens at the door, she asks, "Is anyone else hurt?"

"I got hit by an axe," Pen mentions, "but I think I'll live." Indeed, he was slashed by the cultist's hand axe pretty badly, but seems still full of energy despite it.

"Right, right," Grev replies, glancing down at her breasts. "But what do they do? Seems like they'd just get in the way. In battle, I mean. Also maybe other times, too. Is it true they're full of liquid and squish around when you move?"

Grubnick binds the kender's wound up. We might as well get it patched up while we have a chance.

"I got grazed by a couple of arrows, but I should be fine."

"Now how should we proceed? Shall I open the door and scout down the passageway beyond? Do you all have my back while I do that?"

Once I get Pen patched up, take a peek if you can without alerting anyone. We'll all stand ready to rush in if you're discovered. Does that sound good to everyone?

"The main purpose of them is for children," Kendra says. "When we get pregnant, they fill up with milk, and when the kid is born, the kid drinks the milk from them," she explains. "So, yeah, they do fill up with liquid when we are pregnant, but they don't squish around when we move. Why all the questions?"

Arulia kneels to look at Haahqae's wounds and wincingly tears another strip off of her cloak to bind them. Once done, she nods her agreement at Gobax's suggestion, then adds, "If you don't want to go alone, Pen, I'll go and look with you. Maybe we won't be as sneaky, but we'll stand a better chance if we're surprised when there's two of us."

(OOC: Arulia tries a heal check on Haahqae.)

(More OOC: I like the Kendra's conversation with the draconians. What would reptiles know about mammalian anatomy, anyway? And how would an all-male (spoilers!) race know about females, for that matter?)

Gobax uses another bandage to help patch up the kender's axe wound. Arulia tears off more of her cloak to bandage up Haahqae further, but it doesn't seem to help any.

"Perhaps we should send someone else to scout instead?" asks Gregeddin. "Err, since Haahqae is wounded, after all. Hate to see him get hurt further. Maybe Ismene can go, as she can turn invisible."

(OOC: According to the rules for Hovering at Death's Door, once a character has been revived from negative HP, no further healing will work on them until they have had a full day's rest. Thus, Arulia's healing check automatically fails.)

"Drinks the milk from them?" Grev repeats incredulously. "That's crazy. Mammals are weird."

"Pardon their curiosity," Krup intervenes. "We don't have females of our own."
