Re: CH. 9: Road to Tu'Valie
(Perhaps it's a miss understanding..)
"Good point well made. Regardless I really have to wash, I'm going to borrow a little water, and change. Val would you mind keeping watch? I'll find a seculded spot." She says as she starts to remove her spare clothes from the backpack.

Re: CH. 9: Road to Tu'Valie
Jocelyn rolls her eyes at Arei's suggestive wink towards Andar. ~That didn't take her long,~ she thinks to herself. "What is the point of bathing when it is going to be raining soon anyway?" she asks. "You might as well wait until the storm passes. Besides, we should start moving before the storm hits."
Re: CH. 9: Road to Tu'Valie
"You are right once again. I just hate being dirty, reminds me of fishing, of a life I left behind." She responds with a far away look. "I wonder if there are any settlements on the path? A small house, I doubt there will be any farms.." Pulling off the dirty gloves and soaked jacket she shakes them a moment before swapping them for dry ones.
" Kid never learned to clear a room. Doors and corners, I told him. Doors and corners."

Re: CH. 9: Road to Tu'Valie
Shortly after Areilon swaps out her tunic, the rain starts to come down again. Even the jungle canopy can't keep them completely dry, and soon enough, everyone is completely soaked to the bone.
It's two hours before the rain finally lets up. The sun breaks through the clouds and it suddenly almost becomes pleasant out.
As the party walks, they start to hear an audible buzzing sound. It's difficult to pinpoint where it's coming from; it almost sounds like it's coming from all directions at once.

"Keep closely together!" Ouragana warns the group. "The web can protect us as well as trap an enemy!"
She looks out to cast Web on an approaching enemy, or on the group if it is a swarm of large insects.

"Exactly my thought!" Arei pulls Andar near and pulls her cape round her face.

"Where are they coming from?" Jocelyn asks as everyone seems to gather together.
Re: CH. 9: Road to Tu'Valie
OOC: Sorry for the absence, technical difficulties.
Val stays close to the group, "Damn bugs, could be bees or wasps."

Re: CH. 9: Road to Tu'Valie
From both sides of the trail, giant insects emerge from the trees. They resemble mosquitoes of a sort, but are red and yellow in color and have two foot long wingspans.
There are at least a dozen, perhaps more, of the critters and they are flying right toward the party.

"Oura use that web spell try to catch as many as you can on this side. Andar don't let them hit Joyceln, Val Bearos, ranged weapons now!" Drawing her Crossbow she lets loose a bolt at #2 (moving around Andar as she loads)
1d10, 1d20+1, 1d6=[8], [2, 1], [5] and... promptly misses.

"It'd be easier to protect us!" Ouragana shoults back, but turns and releases the magical energy to form a web between the trees on her right, forming a canopy, thus forcing the bugs to attack all from one side.

While protected by the others, Jocelyn takes the time to pray to Octhanus to bless the party.

Re: CH. 9: Road to Tu'Valie
Before anyone can even react, several bugs break away toward the party. One latches onto Andar's back, biting into him with its long proboscis. Another does likewise to Jocelyn's right leg, cutting right through her robes. Two more head for Thunder, the largest of the group by far (and therefore having the most blood). One is thwarted by the horse's barding, but the other manages to latch on to its left flank. The horse whinnies in fear and pain.
Ouragana turns toward the swarm to the north and concentrates. This was the most complicated spell she had ever cast in the field before. She wanted to get it right. Pulling out a strand of spider silk from her pouch, she began to recite the arcane algorithm to unlock the spell's power, while making the proper gestures. Just as she finishes the incantation, she points northward and suddenly thick, magical webbing springs up among the trees. Five of the creatures are instantly ensnared, and buzz helplessly in the webbing, like flies in a spider's web.
Three more of the bugs approach. One swoops at Takit, but the dog ducks and then barks angrily at the bug. Another latches onto Thunder, causing the horse further distress. The third bites Val right on her neck, sinking its proboscis deep into her skin.
Andar focuses on protecting Jocelyn, as per Areilon's command. Another bug flies toward her, and he starts swiping at it furiously with his cutlass. Not only does he not hit anything but air, but he loses his grip on his weapon and it flies off to the side. The bug lands on Jocelyn's neck and bites into her, causing her to lose her concentration; her spell fizzles from her mind. "Gods, I am rusty," Andar says, reaching for a pair of daggers at his belt.
Two more bugs swoop down on the party. One latches onto Val's left leg, finding a hole in her armor, and the other latches onto Thunder. The horse is nearly ready to panic now and starts neighing furiously.
Val and Baeros both take aim with their bows, trying to shoot down any bugs still in the air. Val hits one with a glancing blow, and Baeros manages to kill another one. Areilon moves around Andar and fires with her crossbow at one, but the bolt is too wide and sinks harmlessly into a tree to the south instead.
