"What they were smugging aside, what do we do with them?" Brax asks, looking at the two Gnolls, lying about having them seemed wrong somehow.

"Remember, children have seen them here." Geraldine points out. "They will tell their parents, and someone is likely to come here to see what they've seen. We'll need a good explanation for the council and the people of Saltmarsh. In fact, we're lucky there isn't a crowd gathering here yet. People are busy during the day and a little scared, I think. They want us to deal with the danger and tell them what it was."

"I don't think they can tell us anything more than they already have," Amon says. "They have honored their part of the bargain. I say, heal them up, and let them go. We can escort them to the town's border and let them find their own way there, perhaps with a few days supplies to keep them going until they find some of their own people."

"That I can do." Praying to Pelor once again Brax touches the other Gnoll, letting his power heal the creature:

Cure Light: 1d8=4 (so 5hp as discussed)

Geraldind frowns. "Are you sure they will leave? And are you sure you'll be able to convince people they pose no threat?" she asks Amon.

"If they are gone, how do they pose a threat?" Echo asks. "While the children might run off to tell everyone they saw gnolls in town, how many people are actually going to believe them besides us? If they show up looking for them, see them gone, then they are probably going to think the children were just playing."

Amon nods. "They are only two, and have no reason to stay here. Two gnolls alone are no threat, most likely they will seek out their own people."

He turns to Krtk and Khchk and says in Gnollish, "We thank you for the information you have told us. We will use it to seek the man in robes and his men and bring them to justice."

Both gnolls had been looking at Brax in disbelief when Pelor's power washed over them, they clearly were not used to be treated that kindly. Getting up, Khchk takes Brax's hands reverently into his and jerks his head up, exposing his throat to a potential bite.

Krtk says to Amon: "We have to thank you. Other people would have simply killed us when they found us wounded. I promise that your village and your lifestock will not be attacked by any of our kind, as long as we live." Khchk joins his brother. "Yes, we will protect you when we can."

Amon nods his thanks to the gnolls, and translates their words to his companions. "You see? We have nothing to worry about. We can fetch some heavy cloaks to disguise them and escort them out of town."

"Amon - give me your purse, and the keys to your home, will you? I promise I will not spend all your coin or ransack the place." Martin puts out his hand, palm up, and waits, smiling innocently.
"Ah, but you won't, will you?" He drops his hand.
"And why not? Because we've only just met, and you don't trust me. You have absolutely no reason to believe the promise of a stranger. And I am not three hundred pounds of muscle and fur with sharp teeth and a bad attitude, times two."
Martin eyes the gnolls. His expression is friendly, but not overly so. "And even if they are sincere, if you let these two roam free, even if we don't attack them, someone will. They'll be hunted down like dogs - or something. I mean, who hunts dogs? Anyway - Or they'll get desperate and attack some poor farmer or fisherman or charcoal burner that they don't owe their lives to. And that blood will be on your hands. Or worse, on your clothes, which is impossible to get out.
"Like it or not, you saved their lives, so you're responsible for them now."

"I will heal them fully, then you decide what you wish to do." Brax heals Khchk, Cure Light Wounds: 1d8=7.

"I will aid you further if needed, otherwise, I bid you good day." She raises her hand and leaves the shed. "If that is acceptable?"

"I have a hard time understanding how they can make any guarantee regarding their fellows."

"He might talk too much, but thr bard makes a good point. From everything I know about gnolls, they're cowards. Of course he's telling us what we want to hear. Who's to say they aren't going to run right back to their pack and spread the word about how soft and.benevolent we all are? I hope for this town's sake that you are correct, mageling. I don't fancy having to fight thirty of these beasts in a week's time."

Searos rubs his chin, idly musing to himself. "30 in a week would get in the way of my dice games."
