Galeney drops her bow as she runs for cover to the tree on her left. She then moves to the next tree on her left that borders along one of the tents. Using the tent as cover, she sneaks towards another tree that ends up on her left as well. Once in that position, she waits to see what bandit #5 does before she makes anymore moves.

Dropping her broken bow, Galeneye hops down into the next layer of the depression, continues west, and drops into the layer below that, rolling behind a bush. As she prepares to leap out of cover again, she takes a couple steps to her right, over some fallen leaves. Too late, she notices the shiny gleam of metal from under the leaves. The hidden bear trap snaps shut on her leg with a loud clank, causing pain to shoot through her leg where the metal teeth bites into her, holding her into place.

Erek grins to himself at hearing the noise. This was what he had hoped for. The fools were charging forward, right into his traps. He quickly drops his broken bow and hurries to snatch up one of his sleeping comrades bows to replace it. This will be easier than shooting fish in a barrel, he thinks to himself.

Thinking victory was in easy reach, Karathos hops down into the next layer of the depression, landing right in another hidden bear trap. It snaps shut tightly around his leg, drawing blood. Targin was luckier. Because Galeneye and Karathos cleared the traps from his path, he makes it down into the depression and between the two tents without any hassle.

Erastin, meanwhile, finds a spot where he could ride down without risking his horse hurting himself. Or so he thought, for the poor beast runs right into a bear trap himself, getting caught. Suddenly stopping, Erastin was nearly tossed from his saddle, but he manages to hold on in time to prevent himself from taking a nasty tumble.

Targin looks around, trying to spot where the young girl was hiding. He finds her, or rather, her arrow finds him. From the brush, an arrow flies out and strikes his thigh. Were it not for his armor, it likely would have pierced his whole leg. Luckily, it only cuts into his skin a little bit. The young woman with the long brown hair quickly draws another arrow, her eyes widening as the dwarf gets closer. She fires, but this one is completely deflected off the dwarf's mail.

Karathos curses, then places his battle axes to the ground before pulling the maws of the bear trap apart.
1d20=12

He picks up his axes and moves over to Galeyne.

(I guess on round is not time enough to free us both? I roll again, it will be first action at the next round then)

1d20=19, this one's tougher.

Scanning the area quicky to any more hidden traps Erastin jumps off Galen where he can see no beds of leaves, cautiously (rather than running) he moves towards the first tent. Shield up ready in defense.

Galenye winces in pain as the trap clamps over her leg. She takes the time to bend down and pry open the trap to set herself free. She struggles for a bit, but just barely manages to get free.

His bovine muscles rippling, Karathos forces open the bear trap so he can remove his injured leg. At the same time, Erastin slides off his trapped horse and carefully circles around, sword at the ready. If he had a shield, he'd have that at the ready, too. However, he doesn't. Perhaps he can look into acquiring one when they reach Solanthus.

Mimicking the minotaur, Galeneye likewise manages to pull apart the teeth of the bear trap she is trapped in, freeing her leg.

Targin approaches the long-haired lass, thirsting for her blood, and swings his axe at her. At the last second, she drops into a backward rolls, avoiding the deadly blade. "Daddy!" she shrieks. "I need a hand over here!" She quickly fires the arrow she had nocked, and by sheer luck, the arrow finds a chink in the dwarf's armor. However, it will take a lot more than that to put Targin Steelaxe down!

Erek, on the other hand, is busy with his own opponent. He fires an arrow at Erastin, but it merely bounces off the initiate's armor, no more effective than if he had fired at a stone wall. Things were not looking too good after all. These folk were much better armed than the travelers he would normally fight. If they weren't able to put these two down, the others would escape from their traps and possibly uneven the odds a bit.

Erek's daughter quickly fires another arrow at Targin, but he easily deflects the missile with his axe-head. Realizing this wasn't working, she drops the bow and draws out her long sword. "K-Keep away from me!" she calls to the dwarf, waving the blade in what she hopes is a menacingly manner.

Erek does likewise, firing a second arrow which misses, then dropping his bow. He pulls out a large, two-handed blade. "Let's go, kid," he says to Erastin. "I'll cut you into ribbons."

=============

Initiative

Bandit 05 fires a sheaf arrow from her short bow at Targin (1d20+1): 17, miss.

Targin is a bit surprised at the girls skill, both for avoiding his blow, and for locating a hole in his defense. None the less, he continues to press the attack, more than a little perturbed.

Seeing Galeyne is free, Karathos picks up his axes and moves on. He follows the sound of the girl's shriek and mock charges, head down, stopping just outside the range of her sword. "I'd drop that if I were you" he tells her, drawing up to his full height and showing off his battle axes. "Then I promise I'll keep my friend here from cutting you to pieces."

Like Selowen, Jinali goes into full defense.

Erastin raises his blade, these people obviously had something to hide, why else would they fight? Bandits probably.

"Lower your blade and surrender, we will go easy on you." He says as he gives the man a Knightly salute before striking at him with his blade in warning.

Karathos trudges forward, arriving just in time to see Targin and the young woman fighting it out. She looks to be about Galeneye's age, and it's clear from the look in her eyes that she is panicked by the situation. "I'd drop that if I were you" he tells her, drawing up to his full height and showing off his battle axes. "Then I promise I'll keep my friend here from cutting you to pieces."

The young woman's blade is easily deflected by the dwarf's axe before she takes note of the new arrival. Her dark eyes widen further at the imposing sight of the minotaur, wielding an axe the same size as Targin's in each hand. Her eyes dart back and forth, trying to find an escape but seeing none. She lowers her blade, realizing she has no choice...

Galeneye, sneaks around, hoping to get behind the grey-haired man. If she can grab him and hold her sword to his throat, perhaps he'll see reason and surrender. Unfortunately, Galeneye's plan is thwarted when she steps into another bear-trap by accident, which ensnares her other leg.

"Lower your blade and surrender, we will go easy on you," Erastin says as he salutes the man and then strikes. The older man isn't able to get his own blade up in time, his reflexes dulled with age. The tip of Erastin's ancestral blade cuts the old man across the cheek, drawing blood.

"You son of a bitch," Erek snarls. Throwing his weight into it, he performs an overhead attack that, under normal circumstances, would have likely cut into Erastin's right shoulder deeply. However, his plate mail shrugs off the blow easily.

Meanwhile, the minotaur's demand for surrender proves to be the perfect distraction. Targin moves in quickly, while her guard is lowered and slams his axe's head right into her chest with all of his might. The blade embeds itself into her ribcage as she screams out once in brief shock and pain. He's sprayed by droplets of warm blood as she falls backwards, taking his axe with her. Falling on her back, she looks up at the minotaur with confusion and fear, which then fades to nothing as the spark of life dulls and then vanishes from her eyes.

Despite his duel with Erastin, Erek catches this from over the initiate's shoulder. "TASHA! NO!" he cries, his own eyes widening with shock and dismay.

"Why did you do that?" Karathos asks Targin, completely taken aback. At the man's shout, however, he moves around the bush to see if there's more trouble coming.

He moves toward the sleeping bandits.
