"Of course he will." she smiles.

"He won't be left alone. I'm staying for the time being." Bastian looks about the group soberly. "I'd like to further examine the portal to determine if I can figure out a way to disable it if not destroy it outright. I would, however, like someone to deliver a note on my behalf to the local clergy so that they may pass it along to the head of my order. Things are afoot and they need to be informed with any information I have at the moment."

"I will take it, of course." Angel says with a glance over at the tent, "He will need someone with him, but beware.. his people are proud, I don't quite understand it myself."

"Right, so who else is coming with me?" She asks, hand on her sword hilt.

"I wish to head back to see if i can stock up on supplies for future need when we get all beat up, so i will go with you."

"I counted on you Papa." She smiles, at my side as always.

(Spells: Read Magic, Color Spray)

Gnaeus lounges near his bowl of finished porridge, languidly relaxed. The jetty form of Pounceous lays by his empty bowl, licking at a bit of honey on the man's manicured fingers. "I have only just arrived and this portal bears investigation. Do be careful the pigs don't make a meal of your cargo."

"I will come with you, Angel" Liri tells her friend. "It would be great if we had the time for a bath, too. The hot water and a massage may help with the leftover tingling." She wigggles her fingers and toes.

"Indeed, we have to secure it somehow, perhaps a sledge behind Praesul." She responds, her voice warmer than yesterday. "Thank you Liri, a bath and would be nice, for a change."

"Some northerners build a sort of triangular frame and drag it behind a horse to carry things. I never use them because they leave a trail a blind grocer could follow. But if you want to get shorty back to the Depot, I am sure Octo will lend us a pack horse and send an escort," Maughus says. He's gnawing on a leg bone as long as his hand as he speaks. "Did you two get any raccoon? Hop does a good job with it."

"Thank you for the offer, Maughus, but I eat little meat and none in the morning" Liri says politely before walking off to organise the material to drag the dwarf to town.

"No thank you." Angel says with a polite wave of her hand. "I think a packhorse would be best, when can we be ready to leave?" She asks checking the sun. "We will need an escort to guide us back anyway."

Gnaeus stands, lifting the unprotesting Pounceous Servilius by the scruff of his neck to deposit the cat on his left arm, letting him lay draped over the appendage pressed close against his tunic. The cat lolls lazily, closing its eyes for sleep while its master addresses Bastian. "I have an interest in this portal you speak of, a chance to study it will be most elucidating. When may we depart to unravel its mysteries?"

Bastian looks at the man and raises a single eyebrow. "What is it with these academic types that makes them feel they must use overly large words to convey simple meaning?" he thinks to himself.

"Absolutely. I would prefer some martial support, though. The creatures that came through this portal were well beyond my own capabilities. Shall we visit Octo first?"

The group finds Octo at a small folding table near the treeline. A plate containing the remains of his breakfast sits on the ground next to his chair. On the table is a writing kit, and next to it a small page of vellum covered in neat compact handwriting. He listens to the group's plans while gently blowing on the vellum to hasten the ink drying.
"My report. I am sending Ash and Grouch to deliver it to Viletti. You can ride with them and see whomever you need to report to. And you may borrow a pack horse. I do, however, require your oath that you will not spread news of the events which took place here yesterday. The last thing we need is a bunch of worried folk spreading incorrect information they got third- or fourth-hand."

Without preamble, Liri lays her hand on the pendant of hermeus she is wearing around her neck, lifts her other up and simply says: "I swear that I will speak to no one but Master Fraso and the people who are with us here about the things that happened here yesterday."
