"I'm sorry for your loss. Not that it was anything to do with me; that was Magus. I need some food. Not stealing though. I'll leave some coinage on the side to cover what I take and a contribution towards giving her a decent burial," rasps the dwarf. He quickly searches for something simple, a load of bread and a big hunk of cheese and a sharp, heavy duty kitchen knife. He leaves some money on the side.

Kendra looks at Tulbas when the dwarf they just told to come with them doesn't come with them. "...This is going well so far," she says with a shake of her head. "We are better off leaving him behind, it seems."

[Before the people move away from Grubnick (fake name Gobax)]

I'm not looking for work right now, thanks. The goblin replies in a normal tone/volume.

Tulbas looks back for a moment surprised, then say to Kendra and Magnus, "Hmm... he is indeed acting weird. Let's continue. If he catches up he will have to explain himself."

(OOC: I might misunderstood. I thought Kendra and Magnus will wait at the door impatiently. And after all that trouble now Chris is heading to the kitchen :)
Moving on.)

Kendra and Tulbas (Harbor District)
Magnus, Tulbas and Kendra step back out and rejoin the others, who are waiting in the street.

"What was that all about?" asks Yvette.

"Nothing, just a waste of time," Magnus replies. "This way." The black robed wizard leads the group to the harbor district. Specifically, he takes them to an old looking building that appears abandoned. "This is it," he says. "The old woman thought of this place when I was reading her mind."

Gobax (High Hand Inn, Common Room)
After Shima just silently gets up and heads into the kitchen without a word, the others shrug and leave. Gobax is left to himself at his table.

Shima Longfoot (High Hand Inn, Kitchen)
Shima drops a handful of coins on the counter, then takes some bread, cheese and a kitchen knife. The wait staff make no move to stop him, especially after he takes the knife.

==============

Shima leaves behind 6 SP and 6 STP.

(OOC: There are no gold pieces in this setting, everyone uses steel pieces instead.)

Having got some food Shima returns to the main room and is surprised that the spiky mage has gone.
"Thought they wanted me. Oh well," comments the dwarf to Gobax. "What plans? Or none?"

If none, Shima wishes the little fellow good luck and ambles off to his habitual sewer entrance.

"I suppose there is a secret entrance to the sewers here? Kendra asks as she looks over the abandoned building. "What are the chances that the entrance is guarded?" she asks as she motions for everyone to continue forward.

“Well that’s all good and all… But when? We need a plan as soon as possible so that people can make the proper preparations. Plan fast, improve the plan as often as possible and know what you need to do.”

“Otherwise we’re just sitting around in a place the army can’t find and brooding over their many injustices. I’ve had my fill of brooding. It really doesn’t solve anything, and letting evil stew just makes it worse when you’re finally forced to act.”

Haahqae (Sewers)
"Our leaders will be returning soon," Coroccoco says. "They had one more potential recruit to meet, and hopefully he--and then they--will arrive soon. Once they have, we can begin planning in earnest. Until then, if you have any questions, I can do my best to answer them."

Kendra and Tulbas (Harbor District)
"Very high, I'd say," Magnus replies. "There is bound to be some resistance. Do you care to do the honors then?" he asks, gesturing to the door.

Kendra looks over the door for a few moments before she simply shrugs and kicks the damnable thing down. There was no point in being sneaky about this.

Something seems vaguely disappointing about this whole resistance movement. Perhaps it’s just the part where he could be sitting at home right now, doing nothing and thinking up crazy schemes with very little chance of success at hurting the dragonarmy, but instead he was promised so much more by an organized and official looking note that recruited him with a promise of a plan… and he ended up sitting here, doing nothing and thinking up crazy schemes with very little chance of success at hurting the dragonarmy.

“So what exactly can your divine magic do? Magical healing? What about smiting? Can you toss us a fireball when we need one? Can you call down a couple dragons to give us a fighting chance? I also heard mention that the war… wherever it was, was turning in our favor for once. Can you send messages out there with your river or any normal means to tell them we’re here and we can help them from the inside if they free us?”

“I’m sure you haven’t given me the whole picture yet” I sure hope they haven’t, because that was rather bare bones. “But it would be good to know if you have contingency plans in place. How well do you know everyone in the resistance? What are the chances that one or more of them could be unreputable jerks who could betray us for a coin purse? I’ve had a lot of failures since the occupation, and many of them were due to lack of trustworthy aid. It's a large part of why I started working alone.”

Haahqae (Sewers)
"I can heal injuries, yes," the hobgoblin explains. "But a fireball is more of a wizard's thing. I cannot commune with or summon dragons. As for the war...there have been some changes, yes. A council of elves, dwarves, kender and humans have formed together, called the Whitestone Council. They are said to have rediscovered the lost art of forging dragonlances--legendary weapons of the past that are said to be quite effective against dragons. They cannot send us any help at the moment, though. They are fighting for their lives in Solamnia at the moment. Even if they could spare manpower or resources, you have to remember at this point Abanasinia is deep within enemy territory now. They are all the way on the front lines."

She adds, "As for the resistance, I do not particularly know any of them very well. I am here on orders of my deity. I am to make sure things play out the way they are supposed to, as history records--or rather, will record."

Kendra and Tulbas (Harbor District)
With one solid kick, the door is knocked off its hinges and hits the ground with a loud wham. Inside is a ramshackle room with little of note aside from a dirty rug on the floor, a table, and a few chairs. Four humans in leather armor with short swords on their belts sit at the table, playing cards. They all immediately jump to their feet at the sudden entrance. They quickly draw their blades.

========

Kendra makes an Open Doors check (1d20): 6, pass.

So great. I joined a group which seems to not have much in terms of weapons, few recruits with no assurance that they’re trustworthy, no mages, and a couple clerics of questionable deities who can’t even toss a fireball? Their plan is worse than the one I made to go into the Belzorite lair months ago and there’s not even sure to be outside help, and if help comes it’s probably not for a long time. Is it safer to just quit this group now and work with resources I trust?

Despite Haahqae’s internal dialogue with Miracle, for now he’s giving the resistance the benefit of the doubt and trying to figure out if they can be useful to him, and visa versa.

“I’m here on orders from my deity as well, and that certainly doesn’t make me any more reassured that things will turn out well then anything else I do. Did I mention that I’ve met with a lot of failure since the occupation?”

“I think we need to talk to these leaders of yours, and soon. We need to do some serious thinking about what to prioritize and how to survive, given the army. If we’re so deep in red army territory and can’t expect aid even if we free the city, then what is preventing them from taking it back or burning it to the ground? Would we be able to forge dragon lances ourselves? We could barely hope to free the city with dragons flying around that we can’t fight.”

“Perhaps we could look into options to harry supply lines and hinder army recruitment. I mean the dragonarmy’s good at that themselves, destroying the failing economy in the city and killing off half the farmers in the city; but I’d rather use methods which don’t hurt the people quite as much. It might be safer and just as effective as taking control of the city for a few days.”

Tulbas prepares himself for fighting. But since none of the opponents seems to have ranged weapon he waits to see if Magnus will choose words over fighting.

Gobax tilts his head quietly for the dwarf to follow and steps outside to see if he can tell where the others are heading, but not as if he means to follow; more out of curiosity. If they go out of sight, then he will follow as discreetly as possible.
