The heavily injured leader scrambles to his feet, crying out to the archers in their native language,
Hunt down those little Elven twerps! I want them roasting over a fire NOW! Back along the road, Vanidur rushes forwards, robes held up as his nimble feet speed him towards the action. Catching sight of the group, he stops and begins to chant. Quickly he gathers the tendrils of magic and weaves them into a golden tone. Calling out in orcish, the Elf tries to persuade one of the assailants to stop his allies. For a brief moment, One of the archers pauses and turns; head tilted to one side as if he were considering the words.
Before he can act, however, the Ranger moves closer to the archers. The Minotaur positions himself behind three of them in an attempt to catch as many as possible for what he has in mind. In a deep rumbling voice, Garroth begins his quick spell. The charmed orc looks confused for a second. As the massive humanoid touches his thumbs together and spreads his fingers, a fan of flame sprays out, engulfing the beguiled creature and the two orcish archers next to him! The ensorcelled beast goes down in a heap, while the other two suffer severe burns.
The final archer, witnessing the attack, snatches up the axe at his side and buries it into the Minotaur’s flesh with a howl of rage! The blow leaves a wide, bleeding slash down the Ranger’s side. Meanwhile, Linar notes that the trio of axe-wielding orcs that have broken off from the camp have spotted him! The Drow quickly moves Westward through the woods, away from them. He pauses for a moment to fire back at the front-most of the three, but the arrow sails by ineffectually. The orcs charge after the elvish archer with guttural howls of bloodlust, but the Drow continues westward, keeping out of range for now.
Boyd steers Salem towards the archers and taps his heels into his steed’s sides. The well-trained mount charges expertly through the brush like only a wild-boar can. The dwarf lowers his lance and braces, but narrowly misses the injured bandit when it throws itself out of the way. Salem digs his hooves in and whirls about, ready to take another pass almost immediately. The orc recovers himself enough to take up his axe. Finding himself nearer the ranger who burned him, the bandit takes a wild swing at the larger humanoid. The axe lays a narrow slice onto the Minotaur’s leg, adding to the growing collection of injuries.
The final orc turns his focus on the newcomers. He slashes wildly at the mounted dwarf, managing a small cut across the warrior’s shoulder.
[The archers were near each other, but not in a straight line. Garroth caught as many as possible in the spray.
Boyd’s attempt to run down the archers would have been a solid plan, but they were in more of a loose cluster, and had been scattered by the Burning Hands spell first anyway.]
