"Too late," Echo says as she lets the kobold go so she can stand up and peek outside to see what exactly is going on.

Echo and the kobold step outside of the tent, and she spots about half a dozen of the creatures trying to make off with the chest the party retrieved from the troll cave. Hollidan, long sword in one hand and torch in the other, is storming right toward them.

"Cheese it! Scatter, scatter!" the kobold by Echo calls out. At once, they drop the chest and start running in opposite directions, raising a ruckus.

Echo looks down at the kobold. "That's better," she says. "I would suggest you start running. That man with the sword might not be as forgiving as I am," she points out.

Cadegund quickly heads to the chest, gathering up the treasure before any one else can try and take it.

Hollidan comes running up to Echo with his torch. The kobold by her panics, looks around frantically, then dives back into the tent to hide.

"Echo, you're awake," Hollidan says when he reaches her. "Kobolds have infested the camp, stealing anything not tied down," he says. "You seen any?"

"I've seen a couple, but they have scattered in pretty much every direction you can think of," Echo points out.

"Damn," Hollidan mutters. "If you see any, let me know." He then heads off to hunt for them, leaving the half-elf on her own.

Echo watches Hollidan head off before she heads back into the tent. "Why did you run back in here?" she asks softly.

"Scared, no know what to do," the kobold replies, nervously wringing its hands. "Why no turn me in?"

"You returned my stuff," Echo points out. "I'm not going to have you killed after returning my stuff."

"You have lots of stuff. How get so much stuff?" he asks, curiously.

"I bought it," Echo explains. "Compared to others, I only have a small amount of stuff."

"How you buy so much stuff? You rich?" the kobold asks.

"No," Echo says as she laughs lightly. "Far from it. I just managed to save some money to buy this stuff."

"How do that?" he asks. "Kobold only get gold by taking. Must take, or get no gold."

"Well, I had to work for my money," Echo says. "I figured kobold's are different. I don't think I know of anyone that would hire a kobold to do a job."
