Chapter 2: Temple of Torm: Temple of Terror

"I see." Turic replies to Mortimer somewhat dejectedly. "Still, better your aid than the last set of helpers Hugh sent us. Sally and myself were part of a group charged with rescuing one Silifrey Hornraven. During the course of that endeavor, we uncovered evidence of much larger somehow interconnected conspiracies. The party with the exception of myself subsequently disappeared overnight. This creature was posing as one of the missing, Kata Amblecrown. At the least she possesses some information about the disappearance of numerous sun elves from the Sword Coast, as well as our former allies." Turic extends his hand to Mortimer. "Unfortunately with the high priest's disappearance, I must now return to the temple and oversee affairs. If possible I will return to assist you all. In the meantime, I will investigate what I can of matters within the Church of Torm." Before he departs Turic speaks to Mortimer. "Sally is a good friend and Ag was fond of her as well. Though he may have fallen under some vile influence. I feel that he would not have knowingly betrayed her. Please find her and see to it that she is safe."

[Jenara]

"She is close to death.." Navi adds as she watches the exchange between Turic and the new arrival. "We hold her life in our hands.."

~We will have to heal her, almost any pain I cause her will kill her, we need to prove we hold her life in the palm of her hands.~ Her voice appears in Vrundars head.

[Nuke]

Mortimer

Mortimer shakes Turic's hand. "I understand. All this intrigue is new to me but I will do what I can. My primary mission remains the same and the secondary one matches yours."

Mortimer then looks with interest at the shackled being.

Speaking to Navi, he states. "I have some skill in inflicting pain without causing bodily harm. My skills have been honed over the years. I am not sure if it will give you any answers, but I could try."

[Jenara]

"Really?" Navi sighs, turning her back on Kata for a brief moment. "That would be most acceptable, I know the questions however."

[mltillis]

At that moment the guards return each bearing a roll of heavily stained cloth. Two others follow them, bearing a rectangular brazer upon a set of poles slid thru rings on each side. Light smoke wafts from the brazer's lid. "Here these should get the job done for you!" The guards roll the cloths out on the hallway floor displaying an assortment of flensing blades, needles, and pokers contained within the first. The second reveals brands, thumbscrews, and various types of jawbreakers. "She'll be begging you to let her talk by the time these beauties are finished with her!" He looks absently at Kata and up and down the hallway. "Well? Where do you want them?"

"Hrrmph!" Up until now, Kata had been cowering from Navi's blade. Seeing the equipment displayed so, she lets out a muffled cry. Her steps hampered by the shackles Kata begins to flee down the hallway trailing the chains behind her.

[Jenara]

"Good question." Navi responds looking to the newcomer, her hand on the whip she borrowed from Kata.. "One of those rooms." She points to the two spare rooms and looks inside each looking for a lack of natural light as she reclaims Katas sword.

"This one." She decides one at random seeing they are both the same, "let's get those things inside, and her." (Can we assume one of the group will move her?)

Mortimer

The Monk watches the going on about moving the prisoner into a room. He helps reposition the girl in the room, taking the time to be careful and easy her into her new spot.

"Easy now, just cooperate and things will go much easier."

[Jenara]

"Thank you." Navi bows and slides the whip through her right hand. "You failed to give me your name good sir. I will give me you hers.. She is of the Fey'ri, a race born from the Tel-quessir, the true elves such as myself and Demons of the lower planes.." She turns to look at the group.

"What I am about to say is little known, kept quiet fo thousands of years. The sun elves of House Dlardrageth (in what is now the forest of Cormanthor) secretly bred with succubi to strengthen their bloodline. It was thought that most were killed.. I believe they are trying once more.." She looks down at Kata, the rapier in her other hand brushing her skin. "I think she is one of them."

[Nuke]

Mortimer

"My name is Mortimer, of the Order of the Sun Soul. Pleasure to meet you, though it could be under better circumstances." Mortimer extends his hand."You think, or do you know her heritage?" Mortimer approaches Kata. "Do you want to tell us of your bloodlines? It seems like we already know, and it is really a simple question to begin with."

[Jenara]

"I think I know.. I heard the story many years ago, an overheard conversation as a girl.. But it is true never the less. Isn't it Kata? The blood of the dammed flows through you." Kneeling by the prone creature she almost hisses.

"See all of this?" She waves her hands at the devices, "These are all for your pleasure." She chuckles manically, "There are two outcomes here. One you answer our questions, two we hurt you in all manner of ways and then you tell us. Your choice." Looking to Mortimer she nods.

"What are you? Where are the Dancien Children?.." She asks the sword blade flicking across her skin.

[OOC]Sorry for the delay. I'm back from the vacation and hope to post more often.[/OOC]

Vrunar stands near Navi and whispers, "I'll come with you. I've seen torments in my life. But Bahamut preaches for forgiveness and kindness even in justice. I mean to make sure you don't go too far." he says, his tone explanatory and not harsh.
Then he follows Navi to the room where Kata is shackled. To Mortimer he says, "I'm Vrunar, paladin of Bahamut."

Egewulf walks outside of the room and stands a few feet from the door, his back against the wall.

[Jenara]

~Perhaps you can protect my soul.. ~ Navi suggests, her voice in the Paladins head. ~Remember, We all do terrible things to get what we want. It's unavoidable, I think. The most we can hope for is that what we want is worth the evil we do.~ She adds with a grin.

"Is there no way to get the information magically?" Egewulf asks loudly from the hall. "A truth spell perhaps, from a high priest here... or from a Mage for hire? ... I could help you seek one out."

[Jenara]

"I have no idea." Navi shrugs, "I'm doing what works, in the time we have."
