Re: CH. 10: Queen of Harts
Jocelyn flushes a bit but she shakes her head. "Well, no. I just never really heard of people leaving the church before," she admits. "So you still follow the teachings though, right?" she asks.
Re: CH. 10: Queen of Harts
"And it's half-orc by the way, my mom took a human stud. It's not like he had a choice." Val states flatly.
Re: CH. 10: Queen of Harts
"Let's try this one fist" Ouragana suggests and walks into the herbalist shop. "Good afternoon" she greets whoeer is there.

Re: CH. 10: Queen of Harts
Baeros overhears Val's comment and joins in, "Not even if she had half the charm you got." he says with a broad smile.

Areilon and Ouragana (Outside of South Guild Jewelry Shop)
An elderly elven woman steps out from the back and greets the pair. "Welcome to my shop," she says. "How can I be of service to you today?"
Saren nods. "The church is just an organization, allowing us to pool our efforts and resources, but it is not necessary to be part of the church to follow Octhanus' will. In the same way a wizard might learn sorcery without an academy or a thief might ply his trades without a guild. It's more difficult, certainly, but not impossible."Jocelyn wrote:"So you still follow the teachings though, right?"
"Oh," says Elisa simply. Then she looks uncomfortable and says nothing further.Val wrote:"And it's half-orc by the way, my mom took a human stud. It's not like he had a choice."

"We have found something that belonged to the lady who used to run the jewellery shop next door" Ouragana says with a smile. "Have you known her, and do you know if she has any family or friends left in town?"

The elderly woman nods. "You mean Amaruilinal Baequirae? Yes, I know her. She left a few weeks ago, though. You might still find her in Condletun, for that was her destination. We used to share tea once a week. She has no relatives in the city, or even in the islands. She originally came here from Gontoria about 60 years ago. If she has any family left, they are probably somewhere in that area."

Re: CH. 10: Queen of Harts
"More difficult how?" Jocelyn asks. "I already find it difficult now."
Re: CH. 10: Queen of Harts
Baeros looks at Jocelyn somewhat surprised. "Err.. if it is difficult to you, you hide it well. You are doing great as Pastor and Octhanus does hear your plea, right? So don't worry." he encourages her.
Re: CH. 10: Queen of Harts
"Yes, it is Amaruilinal Baequirae I mean. Tell me, do you have time now for a cup of tea with us? it will be in her memory, I am sorry to say" Ouragna says kindly. "We have found her dead near the forest path, and I have brought her journal to give to her family, or anyone who cares about her. You seem to be such a person." she watches the woman closely, ready to catch her sould she falter.

OOC: It's her charming personality.
"So, what port are you off to next?" Val tries to change the topic.

"Dead...I see," the old woman says, then shakes her head sadly. "I should have guessed, but I had hoped she might survive anyway. She was so stubborn; there were several boats that could have taken her to Condletun, but they were all owned by the Guild, and she stubbornly refused to give them any more of her coin."
"More difficult in that a friar is on their own. The church is not there to back you up whenever you need it. You are not assigned wards or mentors, you are not assigned your own church; these are things you must acquire on your own."Jocelyn wrote:"More difficult how? I already find it difficult now."
"We haven't actually decided on that yet," Elisa says, glad to be off the previous subject. "Right now we're considering three possibilities. First, we could go and offer aid to those hurt in recent League attacks on Mond. The whole island is something of a mess right now, and lots of people are getting hurt and killed. Second, we've received reports of primitive ships full of undead in the south that are attacking any ship or harbor they find. Third, there are rumors that the Soulbiter clan are on the move, attacking numerous orc tribes for some reason or another."Val wrote:"So, what port are you off to next?"

"Would you like to have her journal?" Ouragana offers the woman. "We found her shortly after her last entry. There were giant bugs livinng in the forest. We only narrowly escaped them ourselves, only because we were a large group with fighters and a healer."

Re: CH. 10: Queen of Harts
Jocelyn glances to Baeros for a moment, and smiles slightly for the encouragement. "But that is only if you want those things," Jocelyn says, turning back to her conversation partner. "You are a captain of your own ship, so it seems like you don't want those things."
Re: CH. 10: Queen of Harts
"You say a lot of people are getting killed on Mond?" Baeros says deeply concerned. "Maybe if we can finish our business quickly," he looks at Jocelyn, "and you choose to go to Mond," he looks at Saren, "I would join you. You see, I was born there on Mond in the woods not too far from Kaunati. On the northern side of the island. Do you know what is the situation there?"
