Jocelyn lets out a sigh as she backs away from the body. "Burning a body in a middle of a forest, doesn't seem like the best idea. Plus, I don't think any of us have shovels. We should just leave it alone."

"You are probably Right." Does the backpack appear to be moving? or are the contents still? ie she's trying to work out if the bugs are inside before she opens it.

"Oura, can you open the backpack with magic?" She asks saying a little prayer for the elf.
" Kid never learned to clear a room. Doors and corners, I told him. Doors and corners."

"I can try" Ouragana says and looks at the fastenings. If they can be opened by a cantrip, she will do so. Otherwise, she'll shake her head and say "I'm sorry."

Areilon retrieves the backpack, which does not move on its own at all. Ouragana uses a cantrip to open it, revealing the following contents: elven bread (5 meals), a small lockbox, an iron pot, a journal, a sleeping bag, an empty waterskin, a vial of ink, a writing quill, a dagger, and some spare clothes.

Collecting the journal Arei takes a quick look (I'm guessing she can't read it?)

She also takes the lock box and checks to see if it's locked.

"The food and bedroll... while its not nice, we need them, I suggest we do so."
" Kid never learned to clear a room. Doors and corners, I told him. Doors and corners."

Flipping through the journal, Areilon recognizes the script as elven. But most of it isn't legible to her. She also finds the lockbox isn't locked; it has a lock, but the lock appears broken.

==============

(OOC: Areilon can make a Read Languages check to try and decipher about 10% of the text in the journal.)

(Woah!)

Swallowing hard, Arei opens the box fully, showing the others... "A small fortune here.. Can anyone read this?" She offers the Journal over to the others.

Jocelyn shakes her head at the journal, knowing that she wouldn't be able to read it. "Well, we know she wasn't robbed," she says as she looks over the platinum pieces. Jocelyn goes and takes the bedroll, and shakes it out just to make sure there aren't any bugs in it. "You know, that might belong to her family as she might be from Tu'Valie."

(OOC: Ouragana can read and write, and she knows elven, that means she can read elven, doesn't it?)

"Would you give me the journal, please?" Ouragana asks Areilon. "I will read it tonight, we should move on now, I think."

Baeros says, "Well, well, she was pretty rich. Maybe she delivered the money as an agent of some group. Anyway, if elves does burn their corpses, it can be done even in the forest, we just need to clear the ground floor several paces from the body. If there is a disease, burning the body is a safe way to prevent it from spreading. But we should be quick about it. I don't like the situation at all..."

"Agreed, we leave her in peace, her soul is at rest, we will go to Tu'Valie, and perhaps we can find more." Passing the Journal to Oura and takes the ink, quill and dagger.

"Come let's go, we have tarryed too long already." Oh does she have any weapons? They might identify her.

Jocelyn finds no insects in the bedroll. The only weapon Areilon finds is the dagger that she took.

"What about the pot?" Andar asks. "That could be useful, as well."

========

(OOC: Yes, I have a house rule that states if you have the Reading/Writing NWP, you are literate in any language you can speak. So Ouragana can read Elvish.

The bedroll weights 8 pounds. The lockbox weighs 5 pounds (the coins weigh 10 pounds, so that's 15 pounds for both together). Let me know who is carrying these two objects.)

Ouragana adds a journal to her inventory.
Areilon adds a dagger, quill pen, and vial of ink to her inventory.
