Sturm does indeed offer Laurana help to enter the boat. "Those are Goblin Search parties, the whistles allow them to keep in contact when they are separated." The Knight repiles to girls the question, "They are getting closer, I would suspect they are moving into the woods now."

He helps Goldmoon enter the vessel if required and keeps a close watch on the bank despite his lack of vision. "They will be here soon, we need to hurry."

Caramon tossed Flint into the boat as if he were nothing more than a heavy sack of potatoes. Cursing and sputtering, the dwarf flailed about and the boat rocked as a result. "Blast it, you big oaf! Nobody tosses a dwarf!"

"Shh!" Tas said, hopping in next to him. "You'll tip the boat," he warned, causing the dwarf to go rigid.

"Is this the best idea, Chieftain's Daughter?" asked Riverwind in his native language. "Can we really trust these people?"

"I don't know if we can trust them, beloved." Goldmoon answers in the same language after she gets into the boat. "But those people" she getures to the approaching whistles "are after us first and after them second, so at least for the moment, we have a common interest: Getting away from those that want to kill us."

With this, she sits down. When Laurana readies her bow, she points this out to Riverwind, inviting him with a gesture to do the same.

Reluctantly, Riverwind did as his Chieftain's Daughter asked.

Once everyone was in the boat, Caramon and Sturm started rowing it across the lake. One of the goblin search parties managed to reach the edge of the lake, though. Under the moons' light, they were easy to spot. Lighting their arrows, the twelve goblins began firing. Burning arrows whizzed by, plopping into the water with a hiss.

"We're sitting ducks out here!" Flint complained, looking a bit green as he clung to the boat fiercely.

"I know, I know!" Tas said in an excited, shrill voice. "Raistlin can cast a spell at them. Maybe turn them into mushrooms or something, right? Right, Raistlin?"

(OOC: Caramon and Sturm are rowing. But anyone else with projectile weapons can attempt to fire back. The boat is about 30 yards out.)

Laurana lines up a target letting loose two arrows at the closest archer.

"Aim for the archers, you can target them by the flaming arrows!"

(Jaded, away and unable to access Invisible Castle, could you do the dice rolling honors please? Jen)

Laurana takes aim and fires, her arrow catching the first goblin in the lineup in its throat. It drops gurgling to the ground. When she lines up the second shot, though, the boat tips suddenly and she nearly falls overboard. Her bow clatters to the bottom of the boat, along with the arrow.

==================

Laurana attacks (1d20+3): 14, hit and (1d20+3): 4, fumble for (1d6): 2 total damage. Goblin 01 dies.

If there is room. Goldmoon uses her sling, aiming for an archer.

1d20=16, 1d4=1

(She hits AC 2 for 2 damage)

Placing a bullet in her sling, and whirling it overhead, Goldmoon lets loose and hits one of the goblins right in the head, dropping it like a sack of hammers.

======================

Goldmoon attacks (16, hit) for 2 damage. Goblin 09 dies.

Raistlin hisses. "Hold steady unless you want the boat to tip." he stands up as much as he can so he can see the goblins but not fall out of the boat. He starts muttering to himself before he reaches into a pouch on his belt and pulls out a pinch of sand.

He moves his arms in a few quick strange gestures as he keeps muttering in the strange language before he flicks the pinch of sand towards the goblins firing at them from the shore.

Raistlin casts sleep on the goblins on the shore. HD affected, 2d4=6

Casting his spell, six of the remaining goblins suddenly collapse on the ground, fast asleep. The remaining four, frightened, decided to take cover and cease firing. By the time reinforcements arrived to bolster them, the boat had been carried too far out of arrow range.

"Wow, Raistlin. Your magic's gotten a lot stronger than before," Tas said.

The boat moved across the star-filled lake. The only sounds to be heard were the soft, rhythmic splashing of the oars in the water and Raistlin's dry, wracking cough. Tasslehoff uncorked the wineskin and tried to get Flint to swallow a mouthful. But Flint, crouched at the bottom of the boat, could only shudder and stare out across the water.

Anyone looking skyward with any knowledge of the stars would immediately notice something amiss. Two of the constellations, the ones known as the Valiant Warrior and the Queen of Darkness were simply...gone. Only Gilean the Balance remained in the center of the gaps where the other two once were.

Grabbing her bow from the floor on the ship in the hope that no one notices she looks up to the sky. "The stars are strange, something looks different." She says to anyone near, still in awe over the young mages magic.

Raistlin keeps coughing into his hand and shivers slightly in his robes. "My power will continue to grow." he says in a low raspy voice to Tas.

At the young Elf's words, he freezes and looks up into the night sky. His strange eyes unblinking as he studies the stars above them. "Two of the constellations are missing." he states with sureness after a moment. "The Warrior and the Queen of Darkness have left their places among the stars."

He shifts his hands inside his robes. "This is an omen of things to come, the gods of old are returning to the world." he says without really looking at anyone.

"Indeed this is a strange omen." Sturm mutters, rowing smoothly, crossing the lake.

Goldmoon furrows her brows, confused. "What do the stars have to do with the gods of old?" she asks Raistlin.

Caramon pauses his rowing and looks upward...." Constlellations? You mean the stars are falling from the sky, Raist? Didn't the old stories say that happened during the cataclysm? " He quickly resumes rowing as the boat starts to turn with Sturm's oar.
