“Impressive, but how do you deal with Scrying? The church appears to have eyes and ears everywhere, and they have mages powerful enough to glean incredibly specific (if not altogether accurate) information that they have no way they should have known it.”

“When I broke into a Belzorite base a few months back, we noted that they had some anti-scry magic going on, but some of the mercenaries with us who had less foresight went and broke it before I was able to study and replicate it.”

What does Haahqae see beyond the secret door? If it looks safe he’ll proceed to the other side.

OOC: You know, Kendra is a Blonde, not a red head.

IC: "I don't know anything about him other than what Tublas just told us," Kendra admits. "So I'm leery on trusting him, but I've been to the sewers once. It might be a good idea to have someone with us that knows what they are doing."

"If I say much more my luck might get worse, and these headaches are murder. Talking of which, there would have been loss of life but I just walked away," answers Shima somewhat obliquely.

Haahqae (Sewers)
"Scrying is protected from here, thanks to myself and William, a cleric of Paladine. Using the powers granted us by our own deities, we are able to counteract any scrying on part of the Dragon Queen and her minions," Coroccoco explains.

Peering through the secret door, Haahqae spots a large room that has been set up as a headquarters. There are about two dozen people or so down here. Most of them are unarmed and appear to be refugees. There's several rows of cots, a bunch of barrels and crates of water and food in one corner, and a sort of makeshift armory (a handful of weapon racks and armor stands) in another. "Welcome to the resistance," the hobgoblin states, gesturing inside.

Kendra and Tulbas (Outside the High Hand Inn)
"The temple? Then ask Nora about him," Magnus suggests. "If he is an agent of the church, surely she would know of him."

Tulbas raises an eyebrow, "Let's then." he goes to Nora and asks her quietly, "Do you know a dwarf named Shima works in the service of the Dragon Queen or the High Priestess?"

"Well, if I actually say 'yes' to that or cite a name, my luck might well get worse, and it's bad enough already. I hope you understand," responds Shima. "Now, is there something I can help you with? If not, I'm going to find some food and then go and see about finishing with these headaches."

Haahqae is at least satisfied that there is an answer to the scrying question, even if he's not sure if Paladine or Zivilyn have much power or influence in the city... if at all. Sure they were powerful in the past, but now? They could have been be dead for a hundred years for all he knew.

The hideout is not as satisfying. Sure, he's come to expect that he's not going to find any brilliant ideas, sword-makers or even experimentation rooms in your average human settlement, but this motley crew barely looked fed, much less well armed and trained in combat, stealth and subterfuge. And it was small, so very small. One freak fire-monster attack would be more then enough to wipe them all out. A dragon was out of the question.

"Ok, so what do we do now? You still haven't told me what the plan is so I can't really start coming up with ways to improve it."

(As mentioned in my previous post, Haahqae would have entered the room by now).

Haahqae (Sewers)
"Our current plan is to use these sewers to infiltrate his mansion," Coroccoco answers. We have found a tunnel that leads right up to his home. Once inside, we make our way to his main office and catch him unawares, slaying him and causing chaos among the Dragonarmy troops."

Kendra and Tulbas (Outside the High Hand Inn)
Nora nods. "I know of the dwarf you speak. He agreed to a job from the high priestess, but sought to betray her by accepting payment and not going through with the job. However, the high priestess was far more clever than him, and had first placed a curse upon him, so that if he did not complete the job as agreed, he would know the full rage of the Dragon Queen."

Magnus frowns. "And this is the person you want to help us? A short-sighted con-artist who has invoked the wrath of the Dragon Queen? Ask him to join us if you wish, but know I'll put a score of magical missiles into his back the minute he tries to betray us."

“Oh so the sewer system is all connected down here. I had suspected as much but never had a chance to check them out. Yeah that’ll work, but it won’t be easy.”

“Do you have a detailed map of the manor? I’ve seen a bit of it, but didn’t have time to explore the whole thing. How many entrances are there from the sewers, or is it just the one? The one I know of might be a little problematic”

“Regardless of which entrance you use, I can foresee two obstacles right off the bat, first off is that the hole is a steep climb up a smooth surface. I suppose you already have ladders built to make that easier? The second is that when we come up; we’ll be smelling like shit and there’s nowhere we can bathe to get rid of the spell. Do we have any mages to cast some abjuration cantrips to clean us up?”

"And those are just the first problems to deal with. Depending on the route we need to worry about guards. If the alarm is sounded we've pretty much failed already. I'm pretty sure the prefect keeps a dragon in the building somewhere. Damned if I know how the thing gets inside though."

Haahqae tries to remember if he came across any main office-like rooms in the mansion while he was there.

Kendra raises an eyebrow and looks at Tulbas. "If he is cursed...I think it might be better if we continue alone," she says. "And he is apparently the betraying type," she adds.

"I'll add my missiles if he betrays us. Besides, he might see this as opportunity to redeem himself in the eyes of the Dragon Queen and her servants." Tulbas says. "About his bad luck... Well, Nora might be able to tell us more about the nature of the curse and we only seek his guidance." He adds. "It will take only a minute to find out if he is willing to help and I rather not delay any more than that. Kendra will you join me?"

Kendra purses her lips together, then gives a nod to Tulbas. "Providing that his luck doesn't affect us in any way," she says. "Then I'll agree to this. Let's get this over with."

Haahqae (Sewers)
Coroccoco says, "We have no map of the manor, no. None of us have been on the inside of it. As far as we know, the sewer entrance is the only way in, aside from the front door, of course. We can provide ladders, but we have no mages on our team. The only magic we have access to is divine power, such as my own."

Haahqae did not see any office like rooms in the mansion, but he did not explore the entire thing thoroughly.

Kendra and Tulbas (Outside the High Hand Inn)
"Very well. Let's make this fast then," Magnus says. He tells the others to wait for them on the street, then gestures for Tulbas and Kendra to lead the way back inside the inn.
