CH. 14: Beyond the Veil

"Tempting eh?" Dahn ponders while mischievously eyeing Kaakos.

[HorizonsDream]

"Okay, so it seems like everyone wants to lure the devil out into the hallway, which I suppose I'll be the bait on that one since I'm going to try to turn it," Jocelyn says. "Once in the hallway, Oura is going to try and use her web spell to trap it. Though, if that doesn't work, I'm going to need our strongest fighters trying to fend it off while the others search for the hammer and the plug, and freeing the plantar," she says. "Detect Magic is probably going to be useful here, so while the fighters are trying to fend off the devil, I'll use that in the room in hopes of finding what we need. Does that sound about right?" she asks the others.

"I could help you with detecting magic after casting the web" Ouragana offers.

"I'll cast Strength on Baeros right before the action starts, Then slip in with the others to deal with this anchor." Dahn says.

[HorizonsDream]

"I'm still more worried about this web spell," Jocelyn says. "Because there is a high chance that when it is cast, I'll get trapped with the devil," she points out. "So, is there any way you can make it more...specific?" she asks.

[Breila]

"I can specify the points it is fixed to" Ouragana tells Jocelyn. She looks around to see a good place that would allow Jocelyn to get away while trapping the devil.
"What about this for a plan" she suggests. "You, Jocelyn, run towards the Southeastern corner of the corridor when it pursues you. But just in time, you run into the troll cage room.Some of us wait there to slam the door shut right behind you. I will try to cast the web when the devil is out of the vault door and to the East, allowing us access to both doors. Of course, I will not cast the web if any of us is in danger of being trapped with the devil."

[HorizonsDream]

"That is still such a little space," Jocelyn admits.

[JadedDM]

"So the devil comes out of the lab...and chases Jocelyn to the troll room," Thaddeus repeats, trying to parse Ouragana's plan. "Jocelyn closes the door before it reaches it, and then you'll trap it in the web, outside of the door? Is that right? Won't Jocelyn be trapped in the troll room then?"

"What is our plan after we trap it though?" Drav says.

"We have to disable the anchor while it's trapped." "Traps. Kaakos, would these traps scattered through out the hall effect it?"

"Eh, if ya mean the trap panels in the hall, sure, if he steps on 'em. The helmed horrors will attack him," Kaakos says. "They wouldn't be any match for him, though. They probably couldn't even hurt him."

Baeros looks at Jocelyn with concern, "If you use the hammer you will be too close to that thing. I... I..." but then he looks down and slowly shakes his head. "I'll be next to you and try to prevent any attempts he will take at you." Then he turns to Kaakos, "Do you know if that creature can cast spells?"

(OOC: You both need to be slapped for those comments.)

IC: "I appreciate the concern, Baeros," Jocelyn admits. "But I'll be okay if I have you and Brock protecting me."

"Sure, all devils have some magic in their blood," Kaakos responds. "Not sure what, but you can bet he has spells or abilities or somethin' up his sleeve."

[HorizonsDream]

"All right," Jocelyn says as she starts to make her way out of the room. "So, I get his attention, pull him out into the hall, and then withdraw from the battle so that the strongest in our party can keep him distracted while I go back into the room, cast detect magic so that I can find the hammer," she says. "While that is going on, the rest of you that aren't fighting need to free the plantar and find the plug. I would use that web spell, Oura, but it just seems too uncertain."
