Pyros will put away the rations, and get a spring in his step.

"Are you up to picking up the pace? I can already feel the warm bath and soft bed!"

If Elsa is not feeling up to the extra speed, he will walk circles around her, or walking backwards in front of her, like a kid who has all the energy in the world, and cannot wait to get there.

If it means not staying out here at night, you bet your butt I'll manage it! The two begin to jog a little, and arrive just before the last flock of sheep is through. A musty, stagnant smell comes from the moat, though it doesn't seem as bad here near the headgate as it must be further down. The water-gate is openes to flush the moat, and is lined with iron spikes coated with some pungent paste.

Two guards in mail stand at the entrance wearing tabards depicting a golden lute on a sable backdrop. Surprise is obvious on their features as the pair draws near behind the last sheep. One lowers his hand to his weapon, but doesn't draw. The other sees their bloody clothes and shorter stature, overlooking the weapons ay first. He begins to ask them questions in a melodic language, concern plain in his blue-violet eyes. Êtes-vous deux enfants gravement blessé? Comment avez-vous si loin de la ville? Ce qui vous est arrivé?

At first it seems almost as if he can understand the man. He seemed to think they were kids or something, but was genuinely concerned about her injuries. After that the man's words made no sense to him, but they didn't seem quite ready to let them pass yet. I have no idea what he said... do you think we can get them to let us in? Elsa asks before turning to the first guard. We were attacked by wolves, she says as she lifts her mail enough to show one of the smaller bite-wounds in her side.

[Pyros lang check (0+5% for elven):
Pyros lang check at W gate Harmonia [1d100] = 1,[1d100] = 95,[1d100] = 81. Pass, fail, fail.

[OoC: Considering I can actually read French, this will test my knowledge to character knowledge membrane.]

Having been treated as a child whenever he is first encountered since he started to travel. He knew exactly how to use it to his benefit.
[Do I need an acting check? Or Charisma? lol]

"Hello, hello? Please help we are injured" He will start to wimper, as he would imagine an injured child would.

"Play along" he will whisper to Elsa. "This should get us in the gates at least"

[OOC: nice ☺ I read some as well. I studied it for a few semesters, but I haven’t had much chance to practice since then (about 8 yrs ago) until recently. The company I work for was acquired by a group with a headquarters in France, so I get a little patch of executives every couple weeks coming through… I still use google translate for this though :D

As for Pyros, he is pretty childlike in appearance and personality anyway, so it probably won’t take much convincing. These people only see (or don’t see rather) what they want to anyway… no check necessary. They can’t really understand you anyway. If you want to try to use their language, you can use the same lang check. Beware, a roll of 95 or higher means your words actually mean something, but not what you want! 5% or lower means you said what you intended. Otherwise you are just talking in Krynn common unless specified.]

Elsa glances at him and hugs him on the shoulder like a reassuring adult. This is my nephew, clearly trying to pass herself off as a short adult human… We were attacked by wolves, please… we don’t want to stay out here at night… she adds a shiver which seems, to the Kender at least, to have nothing of acting about it.

The guards study her features for a few moments, and it is clear she is an adult though young. Her blonde hair matches both the guards, even if the eyes do not. The second sentry, the one who had first showed concern for their welfare, pats Pyros on the arm and says gently, Vous êtes en sécurité maintenant… before motioning for them to proceed. Once inside, large iron-bound double-gates nearly two feet thick are closed. Pyros can also hear machinery within the walls moving, probably to draw up the bridge across the moat.

The air here is thick with the smell of sheep and offal. Large pens are arranged to segregate the flocks, and the two can see a few shepherds leading their sheep to humble homes just south of the gate. Apparently sheep are stabled indoors here. The town spreads out mainly East and South from here, but there are no signs indicating which way they should go.

[OOC: Object of interest/search and direction of travel? Keep in mind that you guys have no prior knowledge of the city. Only the things that can be readily observed from the ‘Party Knowledge’ thread should be considered. Most of the shops close at dusk, so they’ll be shut down about now.]

[OoC: Pyros is si happy to be back in cuvilization! lol
I'm on my phone can you do the rolls for me?]

Pyros will try to mime going to sleep. "An Inn?" He will then mime eating and drinking.

[OOC: sure thing. No rolls necessary just yet.]

Pyros tugs on the young guard’s sleeve and mimics eating and going to sleep. The sentry points straight east, down the path through the field, the then points right. Taking the Kender by the shoulder like a guardian, Elsa leads them off in the direction indicated while thanking the young man as best she can. Gods won’t it be good to be in a real bed again… Passing east out of the sheep stabling area, they quickly come to a fork in the road. Taking the guard’s directions, Elsa leads them to the right.

They pass lots of single-level thatched houses, all of them adorned with heavy blue and green shutters. His roguish eyes notice bolts and latches on every single one. The crowd is thin here, and everywhere he looks he sees humans… not a single kender or elf or dwarf in the bunch… not even a goblin! The people are mainly blonde, though of varying shades, with a few black-haired heads dotting the groups. Singing can be heard down the street, but it cuts off as soon as they draw near.

Even from his shorter vantage point, Pyros can tell that the city is fairly level. Only two exceptions are noticeable aside from the high cliffs to the east. The first rise is a tall hill in the center of town, with an impressive hexagonal wall and a tower barely peeking over the side from within. The second rise was to the far southeastern corner of town, and looked to be natural; at least from this distance. There were large red-roofed buildings on it.

The small dirt road they had taken eventually led to a wide cobblestone street. The dirt road looked to lead beyond it towards the central hill, but the main road was clearly the center of commerce for the city and their best bet in his professional opinion for finding lodging. Indeed, plenty of shops lined both sides of the main thoroughfare here, though most of them seemed to be closing up for the night with the sun now down. A few lanterns on tall iron posts were being lit here or there along the road, but they provided little illumination. Elsa stopped, looking both ways and shrugged. What do you think? I have no idea which way we should go…

"Let's follow this main road. Sure to be an Inn around with all these businesses around. I hope they have dinner ready!" his eyes will be wide taking in the sights, and his face beaming.

How long till she figures out I have her silver dagger... lol

Also can he note some of the items and put them in a special pouch so he can get to them later more easily?

I think about a half second after she passes your room...

Now that he knows what he has, he can get it readily. He could sort stuff, but it would quickly get jumbled again. If he takes something and purposefully puts it in permanent inventory, it stays there amd the slot is filled with a 'harmless' item, but the newly stored object contributes to encumbrance.

Ok, he will want the cards, dice, gaming darts, and the fancy sling stones in my real inventory.

He will keep the pouches and dagger out. Are the robes Elsa's?

The vial of murkiness, the map of Harmonia, the signet ring, and the leather bracelet will be left out also.

He will scoop up the rest of thing things after he catches his little friends. Trying to keep the food with the mice to keep them happy.

Alright, I'll take care of it in the next post. And yes, he recognizes Elsa's robes from earlier... she did leave her bag unattended near the bar for a moment ;), though she has it now...
