CH 2: The Search for More Money

(OOC: Should we move Arei to a sideline for now? So the others don't feel like they are being left behind?)

Moving into the building she turns, checking behind the doors for signs of blood, trying to figure if the person was killed here, or dragged from the windmill to the outside.

Once she has searched the door she moves further inside, placing her blade in her hand, just in case.

nah, you're on a roll, keep going.

As they leave, Val slows down and turns and waits for Ouragana to catch up. "Market first I think", heading that way. She keep to the side of the street trying not to look too scared. As they walk she says "Crowds bother me, never feel comfortable in one."

Dahn shugs,. " Well, I guess I could afford to be lay for one day." he says to himself.

"I can talk to the people that I am with," Jocelyn says. "And then I'll get back to you once I learn what they want to do." She stands from the chair she took a seat in. "Thank you for your time."

Windmill Interior

Areilon searches just behind the front door, and does find a few dried drops on the floor. But it's jet black, not crimson at all.

As she moves further into the interior of the windmill, a small shiver goes down her spine. There doesn't appear to be anyone around, but she can't shake the feeling that she is being watched.

Temple of Gonto

Truestone gets to his feet. "Yes, of course. Please do let me know what you decide. I'm quite eager to explore those ruins." He shows her back out to the main worship area.

Areilon makes a WIS check (1d20): 3, pass. She senses she is being watched.

"Old blood? The last victim?" She mutters quietly, keeping her blade drawn, the black metal shining brightly. So she was being watched? The Murderer?

(I assume there are stairs going up? If so she will move towards them, looking up for signs of disturbance).

"Really?" Ouragana looks at Val as they move on. "I pass through crowds as if they weren't there. Of course, you're bigger, much harder to overlook."

(OOC: Remember Ouragana has white-blond hair, an almost bluish white skin, and wears the grey outfit of the storm sorcerers)

Carefully climbing up the stairs, sword at the ready, Areilon finds what is largely a small storage area. There is mostly bails of grain, and a few crates and barrels. But there is no overt sign of a struggle. And although she searches carefully, never quite shaking the feeling of being watched, she finds no clues at all.

Areilon makes an INT check (1d20): 14, fail. She finds no further clues.

Moving to any windows she scans the area before heading down the stairs and returning to the doorway.

If the last person to die was four days ago, why was that blood fresh? Telling herself that perhaps what she was looking for was outside she heads outside, and sheaves her blade.

Wishing she had someone to ask these questions she scans the area, looking for somewhere someone might hide, and watch her.

Areilon looks through the windows, heads back downstairs and then steps outside. She searches around, but finds nobody watching her or hiding anywhere. Perhaps it was just her imagination? In any case, there doesn't appear to be anything more for her to find here.

Shrugging she heads down towards the Market, looking for a walking stick, and a nice fresh loaf of bread.

If she meets the others she acknowledges them, but wanders round talking in a friendly manner to the stallholders, people like that tended to talk, perhaps they might know something.

When the sun is at its apex, the group meets back at the inn just as the lunch rush is in full swing. There are over a dozen people in the inn, and once again Brock is left to deal with them all on his own. The same halfling minstrel is performing that was there for breakfast. She is playing the ocarina again, but the little has she hat out for money remains empty. An aging dwarf sits alone, scribbling on some parchments, a cup of tea at his table long since gone cold. There is a trio of dwarven women (one somewhat young, one fairly old, and one quite ancient) sitting together, talking and drinking ale. A pair of female gnomes (one old, one young) sit near the fire, eating in silence. Finally, there's a larger table with five humans (four men and a woman) being quite boisterous and enjoying food and drink.

Dahn, having received an unexpected cold reception from Ouragana, remained here and so has sat, drank, and watched the crowd grow over the past couple of hours. Val and Ouragana return from their shopping trip, Areilon returns from her investigation (and shopping) and Jocelyn shows up after speaking with the Kohen.

It is now 12:00 PM (Noon).

Sliding into a seat next to Dahn Arei gives him a smile, "What happened to your shopping trip?" She asks, tearing off a chunk of bread and placing it on the table. "Something doesn't add up with these murders, someone was watching me you know?" She adds, chewing a piece. "This is good, you should try some."

Jocelyn sits down in front of the two. "So the ruins, basically we are sort of going to be playing bodyguards while exploring the ruins, and helping with the artifacts. We should probably try to be diplomats too," she says, deciding to keep things to the point.

Returning from her shopping, Ouragana spots the small group and joins their table, just in time to hear Jocelyn's remark about "try to be diplomats". Sitting on a chair, she declares: "Well, we've been kind of successful with that before, so why not try it?"
