[Round 1]

The archers hold, unable to see beyond the range of the torchlight. Fortunately, Nocturno and Jordek move forward quickly, carrying the flaming beacon forward. The elven warrior turns the corner and strikes out clumsily at the goblin waiting just around the bend! His sword Clangs noisily against the cave wall but he just manages to keep his grip on it. He is set upon by the pair of goblins, but his superior armor turns each of the blows almost effortlessly.

The combatants are just out of view of the archers, until a lone goblin in rusty chain comes charging out of the shadows to the south! Katten and Indendien fire simultaneously, each striking the creature before he can close the distance. The shafts fail to stop the exceptionally hearty goblin, who slashes wildly at Nocturno in his own assault. Spotting an opportunity to engage, Elden rushes forward to keep in the light and attack the newcomer. He strikes quickly, but the wetrock tribes-goblin deftly dodges him.

Linar bides his time, looking for a clean shot, and doesnt have long to wait before one of the hide-clad goblins barrels out of the darkness from the SouthEast! The drow's aim is true and his arrow pierces the enemy's side, but like before it continues forward! Raising a dingy mace, it bashes Elden square between the shoulderblades with a painful Crunch! Jordek circles around behind it in an attempt to stab the foe in the back, but his efforts are nimbly evaded.

A flurry of arrows continue from the archers, all flying false of the mark as the smaller goblins dance and dodge in melee with their larger foes.
In the darkness to the West, the movement and hoarse whispers of many other creatures can barely be heard by Nocturno, Elden and Jordek

Elden spins on the goblin that hit him, and attacks.

If/when that one is down he will move to the south, hoping the torch follows.

Having little luck with his bow Linar switches weapons and moves quietly towards the conflict, following the southern wall to hide in the shadows just short of the torchlit area.

[Will hold for a backstab. Happy for you to roll for HS/MS. That way there's no appearance of impropriety. Ideally it will be when there's no more incoming from a given group of foes. Also happy to withdraw into the darkness again if that is possible/simple to achieve. Objective is to give the melee experts some relief rather than getting embroiled in the melee.]

Jordek keeps pace with the large human clutching the lantern, taking an opportune stab at an enemy if it comes within reach. "I hear more to the west!" he calls back the ranged folk.

The melee continues, rising in fervor as the sides strike and slash back and forth at each other. Another spear weilding goblin rushes out of the dark from the West, stabbing at Elden but the nimble human evades the clumsy attack. An elven arrow streaks from the dark, cutting it down almost as quickly as it appeared! The goblins facing Nocturno press their attack, but fail to connect against the Fighter-Priest's superior armor!

Jordek stabs once again at the back of the injured goblin harrassing Elden, this time sinking his dagger deep into the creature's back! The wretched tribes-goblin screams its last as it collapses to the ground, twitching as it dies. Katten lands a miraculous shot, further injuring the chain-armored guard-goblin engaging the elven cleric. The arrow lodges in its shoulder, causing the foe to lose his grip on the crude battle axe! The weapon flies past Nocturno's head and clatters to the floor behind! Elden takes a parting shot at the goblin and moves southward to the edge of the light, followed closely by the Gnomish rogue.

Yet another goblin emerges from the dark, this time from the southeast. Linar, forgoing his bow for his blades, slinks stealthily up behind the new opponent. His longsword meets goblin flesh, but slashes only a shallow gash as a cry of warning comes from the dark to the south! The Drow's target evades his second attack completely! His victory is short-lived, however, as a lucky arrow from the party catches him square in the face, dropping him like a sack of rocks!

Entering the circle of light Katten adjusts her vision and moves to the middle of the circle, aiming her bow at the two remaining attackers (unless there are more creatures appearing) she will then move to the North.

The goblin guard facing nocturno pulls a much smaller hand-axe from a loop at his side. Blood still on his clawed hand slicks his grip and he sends it slipping to the floor just like the last! The smaller goblin in hides attacking the armored elf has much better luck, and his spear tip dips under the Warrior-priest's guard and sinks deeply into his side! Nocturno tries to return the favor, but his suddenly numb arm looses the blade and his longsword skitters across the stone floor to the south! Linar slinks back into the shadows, waiting for any new opportunities to strike.

Katten steps into the light, moving near the torchbearer and firing into the melee, though her shot goes wide. Dran heels her dutifully. Just then, shouting picks up to the West in the darkness beyond! A chain-armored goblin comes charging out of the dim to attack the Ranger! The young wolf lunges at the attacker, failing to catch him but sending the creature off balance enough that the axe blade makes only the barest cut on the Felis' arm! Jordek circles around behind the newcomer, but his dagger is turned aside by the rusty armor.

The martial artist moves west to aid the injured Elven Cleric, striking his foe in the back of the head hard enough that ther is an audible CRUNCH! As the goblin falls, it is evident he will rise no more as the back of his head has been caved in. A similarly equipped goblin rushes out from the West and slashes at the human, who deftly evades the blow. Dellinanth rushes into the light as well, spear-in-hand to join the fray against the armored goblin threatening Katten.

Still more goblins pour out of the darkness! Two pairs emerge from both West and East! Those from the West move up to assail the human and wild-elf, while those from the East rush through the light and into the darnkess Northward, towards Indendien!!! Unbeknownst to the later pair, the Drow still lies in wait... Linar's longsword slides cleanly through the neck of the first to pass into the shadows, sending the axe-wielding goblin's head rolling several feet beyond. The second nearly trips over the corpse of his fellow, and the Drow's shorter blade takes a small chunk out of his green hide. Sensing the hidden attacker, the Wetrock guard-goblin turns and lashes out with his axe, but the nimble dark-elf proves quite agile. The goblin suddenly sprouts an arrow in his neck and falls dead at the scout's feet. Indendien reloads her bow behind and turns to regard the melee with unease...

A final goblin swaggers out of the dark from the West. This one is armored in slightly cleaner looking chainmail, and larger than several of the others. He has multiple weapons hanging off of him, similar to the commanding Krok that tried to hold them off at the sloped entrance. This one leans his head to the side, popping his neck with a loud KRAK! With a wicked grin he hefts his axe and closes the distance to threaten the injured and weaponless Nocturno!

Map notes:
The blue "S" is Nocturno's sword, the Black A is a goblin battle axe, the red A is a hand-axe. Nocturno could recover the axe behind hiim and use it this round, or could hold until someone can get him his sword (if they are able)

Not knowing how more goblinkin may yet emerge from eastern or western darkness so, again, if there's nothing to immediately strike Linar slinks back into the NE darkness to await for a backstab opportunity.
