Walk to the water and pull out the net, keep an eye on the forest edge while I fish.
(OOC): Now I want to tame the jaguar xD

Drav tosses out the net a far distance and waits. Fishing is all about patience. It sometimes takes hours to catch anything. In the meantime, he decides on what he should do while he waits.

Search the water for rocks of palm size and any sort of metals.
(OOC): I can make something out of little metal bits right? The rocks are for time wasting.

Drav searches around in the shallow area of the water. He finds a few palm-sized stones and some seashells. There is no iron in the water. For that, he'd need to go up into the mountains. There are massive deposits of iron there; one doesn't even need to dig around much for it. This island would be worth a lot of coin to the right people; pity it was in the middle of nowhere, and Drav had no way of getting off of it to tell anyone.
Suddenly, there's a pull at his line. Did he catch something already? Whatever it is, it's strong. The rope is creaking from the strain.

Get my bow out, maybe I'll get a BIG one. Tend to the net and be prepared for anything.
(OOC):I thought I didn't have rope :/ Also, am I actually able to mine for iron, or do I need some tools.

(OOC: Which bow does he draw? The net is made of rope. To properly mine for iron, you'd need tools. But the island has so much of it, you can find it even without tools.)

(OOC): Still using this as a tutorial ish bit, but to get the tools, would I need some specific type or can I just smack ores with rocks.

Drav prepares his short bow, but what happens next is somewhat unexpected. When he pulls in the net, he has not caught any fish--or rather, not the normal kind. Rather, it seems a sahuagin had grabbed hold of his net! Sahuagin are fish-men that live in the sea. They are often called 'orcs of the sea' because they are violent and evil. The creature is armed with a spear in its hands, and has a dagger on its belt. Hissing, it starts to move toward Drav.

(OOC: To forge iron, you'd need some tools, yeah. A hammer, tongs, anvil, and so forth.)

(OOC): Well, probably gonna attack me, so might as well get some Sahuagin-ka-bobs, and seeing as he has a piercing weapon, I don't want to get close.
Ready my shortbow and notch a sheaf arrow, if it rushes me, take the shot.
(OOC): So, are you saying I need iron tools to work iron, or can I make stone hammers, anvils, etc.

The sahuagin immediately moves toward Drav, so he fires an arrow. It sinks right into the creature's left shoulder, piercing the scaly hide protecting it. However, it doesn't even slow down, but rather moves right up to Drav and stabs at his heart with its spear. The elf easily dances aside, avoiding the clumsy blow. He then nocks a second arrow and fires again, this time hitting the sahaugin in the chest. It roars in pain and fury, but isn't down just yet.

In theory, you could forge stone tools first, then use those stone tools to forge iron tools.
Anyway, a quick rundown of the fight.
Combat is divided into 'rounds' which last a minute long. At the beginning of the round, initiative is rolled. This is a 1d10, modified for the action. Using a short bow has a modifier of +7 while using a spear has a modifier of +6. Whoever rolls lowest goes first. But you two tied, so you both act at the same time this round.
Small weapons tend to be faster, like daggers or short swords, while bigger weapons tend to be slower, like two-handed swords or pikes.
You noticed you got to fire twice this round. When using a bow, as long as you don't move, you can fire twice per round. If, however, you move from your current location, you can only fire once.
The round is now over. State your character's actions for the next round.)

Hissing, the sahuagin thrusts its spear at Drav again, aiming for his heart. With lightning reflexes, Drav draws his twin long swords and crosses them into an 'x' to block the attack. He then swings his right sword at the sahaugin's neck. The creature quickly ducks, but this leaves it vulnerable for Drav's other sword, which comes down on the creature's head. It dies with a gurgle, spilling black blood on the beach sand.

Not fixed, per se. I found a temporary work around, for the moment, at least.
End combat. Congrats on winning your first battle, and without taking a single point of damage, too.)

Drav checks the dead sahuagin for any belongings. There is the spear and dagger. Not of any practical use for Drav, and there are no shops to sell them. But they are steel, which means he could melt them down to forge something else. One wonders how a sahuagin acquired them. Do they build forges under the water? Maybe they are just stolen.
He also finds a pair of platinum coins. This is a decent amount of money, worth 10 gold. Too bad money is worthless on this island.
