Re: CH. 12: Wyvern's Island
Inwardly, Ouragana sighs. It was not a good idea of koh'kra to come into town without being able to communicate... but she tries not to let this show. Instead, she lets go of the birdman's hands and gestures as she talks to him. "Come. Let's eat (hand to mouth) and drink (head tilted back, swallowing). she takes one of Koh'kra's hands for a moment and leads him towards the Paragon Inn.

Re: CH. 12: Wyvern's Island
"Interesting." Gallath says with a straight face. "What's happening locally? And where might one find someone with a particular set of skills that might aid someone who has, shall we say special interests?" he says casually, still twirling the coin.

Jocelyn, Brock and Baeros (Narin Temple of Gonto)
"You knew the kohen?" asks Leena. "Well," she begins, crossing her arms," it all began a year ago. A storm blew a ship off course and they accidentally discovered a lost island. Kohen Truestone wanted to investigate it, as he believed it would have massive archeological findings. He managed to secure funding and hire a group of mercenaries, then sail down there. But...the mercenaries cowardly backed out of the deal, forcing the kohen to turn back after having only found a single minor artifact." She shakes her head. "After that, he had a great difficulty in finding more funding for a second expedition. But he finally did, around three months ago and set off again. But he never came back. His ship, their crew, the mercenaries he hired--all vanished. They're presumed dead, as the tribals that lived there were quite hostile. No ship will go back there now. Sailors are so superstitious and they say the island is cursed now. Nobody is brave enough to set sail there."
Gallath and Ouragana (Paragon Inn)
The innkeeper looks at Gallath blankly, not following. He shrugs. "Guess it would depend on what kind of skills and what kind of interests you are talking about," he says. "Speak plainly, friend. As for local happenings...well..," he trails off, looking over Gallath's shoulder, at the entrance. "A woman just walked in with a birdman of some kind," he says, a little stunned.
Sure enough, looking over his shoulder Gallath would spot Ouragana entering the inn along with a five and a half foot tall birdman with red, orange and yellow feathers. The birdman rubbernecks, trilling and whistling softly at everything he sees, like a hick tourist who has just entered their first big city.
The halfling immediately stops playing to gawk at the birdman. "What in the Nine Hells?" she asks aloud, quickly scooping up her tip jar.

"That was us," Jocelyn points out with a sigh. "I had a feeling that he would end up going back to those people. Those tribal people might not have a lot of use for a dwarf, but depending on the mercenaries he hired...they probably aren't dead. They use men for breeding purposes."

Gallath raises his eyebrows at the sight. He turns to the bartender. Speaking urgently so that Ouragana cannot hear, he says "I'm looking for the less high-class information gatherers than yourself. Where can I find them?"

Ouragana smiles and waits patiently for Koh'kra to take in the sights. When he has calmed down a bit, she calls out: "Hello, Gallath. would you join my friend and me for some food and drink?"

Re: CH. 12: Wyvern's Island
Baeros grumbles very quietly, "What, I meant no insult. Just a valid theory. Everybody heard about that godly incident..." His face grim he continues listen to the acolytes explainations.

Gallath nods at the bartender. "Later." He spins the coin once more and returns it to his money pouch. "I would be happy to!" he calls to Ouragana. "Who's your friend here?" he says, nodding to the birdman.

Jocelyn, Brock and Baeros (Narin Temple of Gonto)
"I'm aware of what the tribals do to humans they capture," Leena says. "It was all in the kohen's original report. Problem is, the kohen is a dwarf, and the tribals kill all non-humans on sight."
"That's a shame," Brock comments. "The kohen was a good man. Anyway, if you'll all excuse me." He heads downstairs to the tombs.
"Anyway," adds Leena, "if what you say is true, and you were the mercenaries who abandoned him, I suppose that means his death is on your hands," she says to Jocelyn.
Gallath and Ouragana (Paragon Inn)
"That thing isn't going to mess up the place, is it?" the innkeeper asks Ouragana. "Wait...I know you. A year ago...those iron spiders! You, the elf, the orc and the acolyte!"

Jocelyn shakes her head a bit at that statement. "If you will excuse me," she says as she follows after Brock.
Re: CH. 12: Wyvern's Island
"Koh'kra is not a thing, but a person like you and me. He is new to town and its customs, but I'm sure he will leave everything intact" Ouragana answers, a little tersly. "I was going to ask for two bowls of stew, and a bowl and a mug of water, please."
She softens a bit when she's recognised. "Yes, the spider-maker and girl-killer was brought down by my friends and me. And before that, we had mediated the peace between the townsfolk and the bird-people. Koh'kra here, by the way, is their chieftain's son."

Jocelyn, Brock and Baeros (Narin Temple of Gonto)
Jocelyn heads downstairs, finding herself in a stone hallway. There are row after row of niches in the walls, each to hold a body. The ones that are filled are sealed shut, but the empty ones remain open. Next to each niche is a little gold plaque that states the name of the deceased.
Jocelyn wanders the halls for a bit, until she finds Brock. He's staring at two niches that are next to each other, both sealed. The first reads 'Redra' and the second reads 'Maronna.' The niche next to them is empty. Brock places his hand on the plaque by the empty one, which is blank. "This one's mine," he says simply, without emotion. "If I fall fighting those pirates or anything else, remember that. This is where I go. This is where I belong."
Gallath and Ouragana (Paragon Inn)
"Great," the innkeeper says sardonically. "Royalty." He brings Ouragana her order, charging 2 silver total. He brings out the two bowls of fish stew and places them before Ouragana and Koh'kra. He also brings them their water.
Koh'kra looks down at the steaming bowl of fish stew and tilts his head quizzically. He pokes one of his talons into it, then immediately withdraws it, because it's still quite hot.

Jocelyn places a comforting hand upon Brock's shoulder as she looks over the niches where his family rests. "I'll remember that," she assures him. "But I'm going to try my best to keep everyone alive. I mean, I'm asking everyone a lot to help me deal with my problems."

"Venison steak" Gallath says to the bartender. To Ouragana "Do you have a history with the birdpeople?"
