CH. 5: The Sending is Coming from Inside the House

[Jenara]

"Yes, a bath would be most enjoyable, I'm happy to share.." Arei grins at Oura, happy she had come out of her shell.

"What happened here?" She asks, carrying her gear, "What a difference a week makes..." She muses, "Could I take the Suite?" She asks quickly, "If it is free.. For the week."

Jocelyn frowns at finding the Inn locked. That wasn't normal for any inn, not at all. "Something has happened here," she says. "Why would you look up the inn, of all places?" she asks.

[JadedDM]

"You don't know?" the waiter asks. "Oh, right. You were gone for a week or so. Well, a few days ago the murderer struck again. Brock's daughter, Maronna, was the victim. He's been in mourning ever since, a real wreck. I can't say I blame him; he lost his wife years ago, and now his only child. I've been trying to run the place myself since then. It's harder than it looks. And I don't take any chances, not while the murderer is still on the loose. The Wardens are taking it all pretty seriously now that the Spree is over. Plus, everyone in town knows Brock and Maronna. Anyway, the Wardens have locked down the whole town, there's a curfew in effect now; everyone is expected to be indoors by nightfall."

He checks his records. "Yes, the suite is available, as are two other regular rooms. We're all booked up otherwise."

[HorizonsDream]

"Where is Brock now?" Jocelyn asks.

[JadedDM]

"Locked in his room," the waiter answers. "Refuses to come out. They can't bury the poor girl without his permission, she's still at the temple. But I've tried everything, and he won't even open his door."

[Breila]

"That is most terrible news" Ouragana says. Turining to Areilon, she adds "We should have stayed here to investigate, that would have been a better use of our time than the adventure we had."

She then asks the waiter: "Was Maronna killed like the others, near the mill?"

[Jenara]

"I'll take it." Arei hands him the gold. "We could have stayed, could we have stopped this?" She shrugs, "Doubtful."

"What of my fellow elf? Has she been seen? I wonder if she has any news? And I take it with the town locked down the wardens are on greater alert?" Taking a seat at a table she gives the man a sympathetic look.

"Grey and I will share a room then," Oren says, depositing five silver pieces.

The waiter nods to Ouragana. "Her body was found at the mill, yes. The Wardens have that whole area roped off, and the miller and his family are in custody for questioning. As far as I know, they are the prime suspects."

He accepts Areilon's five gold pieces and gives her the key to the suite. "Fellow elf? Oh, right. There was another elf snooping around. She still has a room here, but I never see her come or go. And yes, the whole town is locked down. Nobody is allowed to leave, and any ship that docks here is now stuck. That's why the inn is nearly filled up. Nobody is permitted to leave until the Wardens allow."

[Jenara]

"The Miller seemed innocent to me." Arei suggests, "Could I have a small wine, if you have time?" She asks shaking her head, perhaps they should have stayed.

"The Suite, how many beds could you get in there? Seems like we have a bed shortage, Oura would you like to share? If possible?" She suggests thinking quietly.

[Breila]

"We will probably have to share" Ouragana says quietly.

The waiter sets the candle down on the counter and searches around for Areilon's request. He manages to find some wine and pour the elf a glass, which she pays 5 copper for.

Areilon remembers from the last time she stayed at the suite, it only has one bed, but it is a king sized one.

[Jenara]

"Of course, there would not be room.... There are five beds, and seven of us, Oren and Grey have one each, that leaves us women and Noah. I would share if needed...." She frowns, "Right now, I need a bath, so does Oura, then we have to decide what to do."

[JadedDM]

"It appears at least one of us will have to sleep on the floor," Noah states. "Just so it's understood, it won't be me." He pays the waiter another 5 silver for the third key.

"I'm sorry," the waiter says to the elf. "But with Maronna dead and Brock indisposed, the only one who can draw water to fill a bath would be me. And I'm not going out to the well alone at this hour, with a killer on the loose, no matter how much gold you show me. If you wish a bath, you'll have to wait for the morning."

[Jenara]

"Fine. You two." She points to Oura and Val, "You can share my room, the bath can wait as long as there is enough water to wash up."

"I assume you will let her share?" She points to the young cleric.

"Naturally, she is my ward, after all," Noah says.
