Searos continues to walk toward the inn, not exactly happy that he suddenly has an entourage coming with him. "Patches, of course you dabble in magic. What don't you dabble in? And I swear to the gods if you make some comment like "I don't dabble in dabbling" or some such nonsense, so help me, I am going to drink until I go blind."

He looks over his shoulder at the children with the slide whistles. "Those are going to make tomorrow's hangover utterly awful. Not that thats going to stop me, ya feel me?"

"I would expect nothing less." Brax giggles, her pretty face lighting up.

Gunter is quiet, taking the measure of their two hosts. While the flamboyant one is still the dame mage is an unknown. Seeing Reller's non-reaction to Brax's heritage makes him smile slightly, though. His father always told him, "you know a man's character a little better over a couple drinks," so he follows everybody to the inn to see what these two have to say.

"Hellooo" Vee smiles brightly at Drake "nice to see you again... And nice to meet You" she says looking at Reller, still a happy grin on her face.
"To drink something seems to be a good idea to me too, here we go"

Smiling back, Reller says. "It is a pleasure to meet you. And, I think a few rounds are in order." He suggests to the group. "We've got a good ale, and the fish is always fresh. So, dinner is almost always a good thing."

"A wide variety of types," Martin says to Reller. "You would be surprised at the variety a small town can draw, particularly at this time of year."

=======================

"Actually, Master Searos, I..." Martin begins, then stops suddenly. "Nevermind. You shall have to do your drinking without me as a convenient excuse. But I would like to remind you that I do have a limited supply of a truly peerless hangover remedy available for sale at quite a reasonable price, should you find yourself in need of same.
"And in defense of dabbling, well, a man can never have too many interests, and the benefits of proper dabbling are manifold. After all, who knows when you might find yourself at the less-than-tender mercies of an ogre chieftain threatening to separate you from your favorite appendages unless you can tell him the chief export of the Duchy of Visalia?" He pauses to let that sink in, his faice a portrait of seriousness.

After ten or so steps, Martin says: "It's tin."

======================

"Let us visit the 'Web, shall we? I know the proprietor, and can likely get us a very good table."

Brax laughs as she pulls up her hood once more, her silver skin vanishing in the shadows.

"To the web." She agrees, still grasping Gunter tightly. "Mine is a red wine." She mutters reaching up to Gunter on tiptoes, "Get a table, I will check the mounts." With that she let's go on his hand and walks to the stable.

Gunter nods to Brax as she walks off to the stables. When they enter the inn, he leans over to Searos and says quietly, "It seems you may have met your match at words..."

He grins as they sit down, eager to see this man get under the thief's skin.

"You know Drake, if you have anything that can help long-lasting crankiness, I'm sure my friend here would be interested. He seems to be suffering from an acute case. What do you think?"

Reller enters the Web and looks around to see if there are any groups of locals that might cause problems for the guests, and he moves with the group to the tables.

Searos rubs the bridge of his nose, eyes tightly shut. "I already feel hungover..."

The Cobweb Inn is mostly quiet now. There are no overnight guests, and the fishermen are still busy with landing their catch, selling it and preparing for the next ride out. Only a few grizzled old men sit in a corner. When Reller passes their table, they exchange their usual quips like "Well, that elf already looked like this when I was a lad, is it his heritage or his magic that keeps him so fresh?", but it is all good-natured.

Nezza is behind the bar and greets Martin warmly. "You're in early today" she says. "Is that because you've brought your own crowd?"

[OOC]@Robbo: Martin has introduced himself as "Drake" to everyone in the group. He doesn't use his actual name if he can help it.[/OOC]

"The sovereign remedy for grumpiness is mirth, which I fortunately can provide in abundance, my large friend."

Martin greets Nezza with a bow and a kiss on the hand, if she'll accept one. "Couldn't stand to be away," he replies, "besides, this lot just came in by ship, and need a drink to settle their stomachs.
"By the way, did the ginger help you endure the journey?" he asks the group.

"Well good then!" Gunter claps Searos on the back (hopefully as he's about to take a drink) "Mirth has definitely been in short supply the last few days. The ginger did help with the seasickness, but not with the abominations that tried to kill us once we landed. That issue required some good old fashioned cold steel."

((ooc: i corrected Drake's name in my previous post...apologies!))

"Would that I had been there, for I have cold steel in abundance as well as mirth, and am no stranger to its use." Martin replies, reaching back and drawing a silk bouquet from his waist and flourishing it like a duellist, then saying: "Bwah," but without enthusiasm.

If the others spot the stilleto hidden in the bouquet, fine. Otherwise, the display will stand as further evidence that Martin's a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

"But what abominations were these?"

When Brax arrives at the stables, she is greeted by a stable hand. "Hello Ma'am" he says shyly, visibly pulling himself together not to recoil from the half-drow. "The stabling has been paid for by the council, to thank for your contribution to the town's safety, but you really should take them out now that you're back. They are getting restless."

Indeed, the animals look well cared for, but are not in a good mood.
