CH 4: Heart of Darkness

[Nuke]

Val holds her bow, but not an arrow and waits to see how this plays out. After her past experience with group she asks "We fighting or not?"

[Jenara]

"Well that's not going to happen." Arei comments with a frown.

[HorizonsDream]

Jocelyn shakes her head no towards the tribals. She knew surrendering wasn't going to happen.

[JadedDM]

"Kujisalimisha," the female says.

After another moment's silence, Maua suddenly calls out, "Wewe lazima kuacha yao! Wamewaua watu wetu na unajisi hekalu yetu!"

"Wait...what? I didn't catch most of that," Dalaim says. "Didn't sound good."

Whatever Maua says, it seems to spur the two tribals into action. Both, as one, begin to chant and wave their arms about.

[Jenara]

"Val, Oren!" Arei shouts, hoping she was out of the line of fire moving back towards Our and the Druid, her blade pointing towards the woman.

[HorizonsDream]

"Surprise, it didn't work," Jocelyn says with a shake of her head before she moves to take cover behind a column.

[Nuke]

Val calmly walks towards the new comers, still holding her bow. She is not overly concerned with their behavior yet.

[Jenara]

"What are you waiting for?" She asks the Half Orc, her blade resting at the Druids chest, "Perhaps for them to bring the might of this non-human hating Deity down on us...?"

[Breila]

Not wanting to outrightly kill Maua, but wanting to make a point that their threats were real, Ouragana uses her dagger to cut across Maua's upper arm, slicing deep into the flesh.

Val does not fire at Areilon's order, but instead boldly walks toward the tribals without fear. Oren, on the other hand, does fire. However, he's too late. The tribals finish their spells, and the skin of both of them hardens into a substance not unlike the bark of a tree. Consequently, Oren's bolt does not even harm them.

While Grey tries to hide in the shadows and Jocelyn seeks cover, Ouragana slices into Maua's arm with her new dagger, causing the woman to cry out in pain. "Ua wengine!" she calls out, choking back a sob of pain. "Wanataka kutuangamiza wote!"

"To Limbo with this!" Dalaim curses, readying his staff. "Take them!" he commands his undead minions. At once, the zombies lurch forward, each toward a tribal and attacks. The tribals, so surprised to be attacked by their own people are caught off-guard and each take a solid hit.

Areilon moves back ten feet, sabre at the ready.
Val walks twenty feet toward the tribals, long bow at the ready.
Grey steps back five feet and tries to hide in the shadows (1d100): 47, fail.
Jocelyn moves twenty feet back to take cover behind a column.
Ouragana cuts Maua with her dagger causing (1d4): 2 damage.
Tribal Male casts Barkskin on himself. AC is improved.
Tribal Female casts Barkskin on herself. AC is improved.
Oren fires his crossbow at the male tribal (1d20): 4, miss.
Zombie male attacks male tribal with his fist (1d20): 15, hit for (1d8): 5 damage.
Zombie female attacks female tribal with her fist (1d20): 19, hit for (1d8): 1 damage.

"Watch her." Arei orders, keeping back she holds her attack for now, moving beside Val. "Now perhaps?" She asks, she'd learnt from the last time, rushing into the battle was not her place.

[Nuke]

Dropping her bow, Val pulls the axe from her belt and charges hoping to find an opening around the zombie attacks.

Jocelyn begins praying to her Goddess, and centers her light prayer upon one of the tribal's eyes in hopes of blinding him. (Tribal 2)

As the tribals each whack at their respective zombie counterparts, Val and Oren drop their weapons, draw their axes and move in. Oren doesn't have time to make an attack, but Val does. However, she is thwarted by the tribal's barkskin.

Jocelyn helps by blinding the female with a spell of light, making her easier to hit as a result. The zombies move last, the female managing to get in a good hit.

Arei moves close to the altar, the skulls of her people making her shudder as she comes alongside the column, shifting herself into the shadows.
