My ego makes me ask how people are enjoying the ride so far?
Any comments, anything you want to see... I am aware Searos is bored IC, that is his way, and Echo is being pushed out of her comfort zone (which makes for interesting RP)..

One thing you guys will need to address at some point, a party leader? Will you appoint one, Brax is doing the ice breaking thing, trying to pull you all together but there is no way she will do such a role (basically she isnt here for that, she is here because i like her chr!! lol)

So far, I'm enjoying myself.

Although Brax has become something of a spotlight hog. This is expected, though. It's also why I don't allow Drow or other exotic and alien races as PCs in my own games. They become a focus to the point of distraction. It gets tiring for a DM (or maybe it's just me) having every single character react to their race (either with fear and hate or awe and curiosity) or just having characters brush it off as completely normal ("Oh, so you're a drow? That's nice.") which not only breaks immersion, but negates the one and only disadvantage to playing drow--their (admittedly well-deserved) reputation as baby-killing demon worshipers.

I remember years ago I was in another game, Forgotten Realms, and one of the players was a lizardman. We ran into the same issue. People kept wanting to attack us or just ran away in fear. It became so frustrating that whenever we had to do anything diplomatic (or we just wanted to talk to someone quickly, without having to explain that no, this lizardman isn't evil, and won't attack you, and he's a friend, and let me explain his backstory, etc., etc., etc.), we had to leave the that character behind or else nothing got accomplished.

It will be a challenge for you to find a reasonable middle ground between "The game grinds to a halt every five minutes because everyone is focused on Brax's heritage" to "despite their reputation as inhuman monsters, nobody seems to care Brax is drowish." I don't envy you for it. That's why I'm lazy and just don't include such races as PC races.

As for party leaders, they usually tend to develop naturally in most cases. In rare cases, no leader really appears at all (like in Pod-Caverns). Actually, in 90% of the games I've played in, my character winds up leader. Probably because I tend to favor LG types who are honest and fair, sensible, and value everyone equally (and the rest of the party tends to be CN or something, although at least that's not the case here). At this point, I guess we'll have to see what develops. Kim and Echo seem a bit anti-social and Searos a tad irresponsible, but that's just my first impressions so far.

Its a challenge mostly because I can't reply every two minutes, you guys need some time to chat together...

I fact I believe it is time for Brax to say her prayers....

One advantage to this module series, at least, is that it's concentrated in one place. So that means sooner or later, the people of Saltmarsh will get used to Brax. If we were constantly on the road, that would make it more difficult, I think.

I agree with Jaded that we don't have to appoint or elect a leader. These things develop as the characters and players get to know each other, similar to what happens in real life settings (apart from the workplace hierarchies). Maybe someone will turn out to be leader, maybe the group will be such a good team that no leadership is needed (such as Pod-Caverns), the group is small enough.

And playing Kim is an interesting experience. It's strange to be so far away from my usually friendly self, and to see that Kim's threatening arrogance works is kind of scaring. Realizing I could be successful with that kind of behaviour... brrr, makes me shiver.

You know, this module is just a bunch of locations, with possible outcomes, all of these NPCs, reactions, dialogue and the like, thats all me! The module is really just a framework, which works for me.

With the addition of Vee the party is now full, I can cope with 6 players (just) but no more.

Plan is, IF you decide to go and check out the house, we'll go to the main game thread.

One last thing, Monday is my Eldest Sons Birthday, as he is not with us (was stillborn) I am going to remember him, thus will not be around from sunday till late monday.

I've been meaning to answer your question on how I'm enjoying the game so far. I either get distracted by something else, or the internet craps out on me. Anyway, I'm really having a lot of fun so far. I'm am really getting into playing Echo too. She is a bit different than what I normally go with. Normally, I stick with the nice people, but I wanted to do something different. I can see her changing and growing through out the game (or at least that is my plan with her), so hopefully you guys aren't too put off by her just yet.

I plan to get to the real meat when everyone has posted once more, the post is written as are many of the later ones.

Actually I think you'll find Brax likes Echo, even if no one else does!!!
