Yep, your job is to protect your squishy twin brother from goblinoids, steel, arrows, dragon's breath weapons (there's no such thing as dragons, haha, don't be silly) and whatever other dangers the party may come across. Plus, there's constantly putting up with your brother's verbal abuse.

But on the bright side?

*Wonders how long she will retain Laurana's 'Diva'...*

Lol...

Indeed. Arguably, Laurana has the most drastic character development of anyone else in the game. I am quite interested to see if she lives up to the legend of her canon counterpart.

Maybe my version of Rastlin will be smart enough to figure out that verbally abusing the guy doing his best to keep you alive is not an "intelligent" thing to do. :P Cheer up thematjohn! I will prepare some suitable buffing spells to keep my meatshield alive and killing stuff for me. "Caramon, that goblin looked at me funny. Chop his head off." :D

Oh and Jaded, I watched that movie again last night... The only characters they did justice to were Tanis, Flint and Rastlin. The other voices were.... uggg. Especially Tas, made me want to plug my ears every time he spoke.

I kept expecting Riverwind to say "Riverwind need food, badly!"

My main problem with Tas' voice in the movie was he sounded too guilty. I expected Tas to deliver such lines as "I was just borrowing it" or "You must have dropped it" to sound completely innocent.

Then we had Goldmoon, played by Xena, Warrior Princess. That was just...surreal.

Matt just posted a link to the trailer on his FBook Page, I have to admit it looks like it sucks major arse.

But hey, I know the books so well I barely have to read them!

A lot of the fans did not like the movie. The main reason given is the animation style. I actually liked the style, though. It reminded me of the old cartoons I used to watch as a kid back in the 80s. And since Dragonlance was made in the 80s, that seemed to fit for me.

The voice acting was (mostly) good and it was quite loyal to the source material (seeing as how Weis and Hickman had a lot of say in it). Overall, I don't think it's a bad movie, but it could have been better.

Odds are they won't be making any more, though.

:D
Bright side? I don't... wait... what are THOSE 8O
:D :D :D

Re: The Movie:
Of course the books are better, but for a crash course, the movie does alright. I have to agree with Tas sounding "too guilty". Kender don't steal because they don't have the concept. They're the ultimate communists and can't understand why folks make such a fuss over what "wandered into their pockets"...

Sorry that came across as being harsh.
Honestly, till the other day I did not know the movie existed, i was hiding under a Rock or something, I always hoped they would, but.... I don't know.

Not at all. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I certainly won't take offense to someone not liking something I like. (Well, honestly, I don't feel one way or the other very strongly regarding the movie.)

I always hoped they would one day make a live-action film, but then realized that might be problematic. It's so similar to Lord of the Rings, people who weren't all ready familiar with it would probably call it a 'rip-off.' It would still be cool, though, if done right. I don't think we've had a decent live-action movie with dragons since Dragonheart.

Oh-oh, it's going to feel like being dropped into a French school all over again... well, I survived that, I'll survive this.
And besides, it is going to be more realistic for Goldmoon. She'll probably come across weaker than in the book, with culture shock and all...

No it won't because you will have people like me here to help you! Hehehe

I dislike the CGI bits of the movie, they look unfinished and do not gel well with the rest. Thats also the most common complaint I've heard form other people.

Jaded, if I'm correct, it's you who's going to play Riverwind as a NPC. Is there any chance that we can exchange a few posts in the next few days (too bad my Saturday is filled)?
Playing out the first hours after the teleport would be a great help for me to get a "feel" for the land and the characters. After my absence the last week of April, Goldmoon and Riverwind could find the others (or be found by them)
