Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
Meanwhile, outside the Lantern the city's business proceeds as normal. A dwarf emerges from another of the Lantern's sturdy doors. He punches the air.
Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
Sue clears his throat. "Taffis Bornam"
Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
She looks, at Sue, no evidence that she knows what Taffis looks like, and smiles even more broadly, " And the account number, if you please, Goodsir?"
Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
"214" Sounding more confident than he feels about this number.
Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
"Please be patient, Goodsir," the Matchmaker says, adding to Nix, "If you please, that is, Gentlesir."
She stands again and moves towards the left hand door. "I will just verify your details."
Unless anyone stops her, the Moon Elf disappears through the left hand door behind the desk.
======
If anyone wishes to run away, now is possibly a good time..

Sue waits.
Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
Sue waits for a while before the Matchmaker returns.
Still smiling, she says to Sue, "All seems to be in order, Goodsir."
If Nix remains she addresses him, else with a gesture to the door he left through, "There is a message for the Gentlesir."
Looking again at Sue, the Moon Elf continues, "Is the Goodsir ready to discuss his requirements? Or would he prefer to think further, perhaps while the Gentlesir retrieves his message and perhaps uses his locker?"
She waits, all charm and happiness.

Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
Excellent. You've always shown a keen mind. Nix says, playing up tge feigned relationship a bit. The tiefling will go to retrieve the message and examine the 'locker'
Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
"Please follow me, Gentlesir." The Moonelf leads off through the right hand door.
Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
Sue will falsely show concern for the Lady outside, then try to follow the Tiefling to the locker.
Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
Stepping through the doorway Nix notices that the harp music is abruptly cut off and replaced with the gentle chorus of multiple flutes. The lightning is even more subdued actually to the point of being dim. There is no discernible source for either the music or the illumination.
After a short walk past several closed doors, round some corners and up a flight of stairs Nix sees the Moon Elf tap on a grill two short and two long pauses before saying into it, "Message for 214, verified."
Another short pause and then a tap from the other side of the grill and the Matchmaker smiles and says, "There you are," as she steps back indicating a small wooden hatch in the wall. Nix opens the hatch and picks up a wax-sealed scroll.
Following her further into the labyrinth Nix ends up in changing room-like area with dozens of numbered cupboard doors on one wall, each maybe 18" square. The wall opposite is sectioned off into half a dozen 'changing cubicles', each with a curtain that can be drawn for privacy. The visible cubicles each have a small table and single chair. The numbers on the cupboard doors seem to run from the 180s to the 230s. Each has a handle and keyhole.

Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
Thank you. He says, cordially before opening the scroll and holding it discretely where it cannot be read by others.[/color] Is Sue allowed to follow him here? He wouldn't object, but might ask him to stay with Alecia for protection. After reading the missive he will either pocket it or destroy it (depending on the contents). Then he will request to access his 'locker'
Re: Chapter 1 - Waterdavian Affairs
While the pair wait to obtain the message scroll, Sue catches up with them.
The Matchmaker remains in the locker room and does not have a view into the changing rooms.
======
I was interrupted (sorry) and only spotted your above post after I'd up-edited my post before.
Up to you guys to decide whether Sue accompanies Nix to the locker room or not; the Lantern are ambivalent about this and will only get involved if there is a fracas.
