Serath blinks in mild surprise, Celestial and Infernal... well, I suppose that makes a certain amount of sense for a priestess... I can't say I expected that. There is a small temple in Skald, they might have some work if you can find someone who speaks Elven there. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with orcs or halflings, though I presume they must be humanoid at least. Elvish would be your biggest boon here, once you picked up the local language. What you call 'common'... might I hear some of it?

Jerry does as requested to the best of her ability.

Jerry speaks a few pleasantries in her native tongue, very common phrases, but Serath shakes his head. I’m sorry, it is not familiar to me at all. Perhaps there are those who speak something similar, but I am not aware of any. The mood in the common room is one of quiet repose; that is until a faint sound outside like the howling of the wind picks up. Much of the conversation falls off, as people begin to nervously glance about. A second, slightly louder sound identical to the first rolls on…

Oooooooooh!

The mournful wail could be the wind… or it could be something else… Guilliam the innkeeper begins telling off a few servers who keep calm but waste no time checking the shutters are latched. Conversation in the inn picks up again, though there is a nervous tone to it. It is almost as if the people are carrying on their conversations slightly louder, as if to drown out the sounds of the night. The innkeeper himself moves towards the front door, where Jerry can see a large oaken beam stands ready to brace the main entrance. He glances apprehensively back to his wife Erris, who stands behind the counter looking concerned.

"Have you encountered such as this before? Do we need to do anything?" Jerry asks Merrin & Serath.

Merrick looks a little worried and says, From time to time this happens. Usually everyone locks up tight and ignores it as hard as they can but... Mira might still be out there... He looks concernedly to Serath, but the older half-elf stares back at him blankly. Once the young bartender is finished with the shutters in the dining area, he moves to help Guilliam start to bar the main door...

"Should we go out to look for them, Merrick?" asks Jerry, obviously concerned, but totally unfamiliar with the risks involved. "At least if everyone's closed up their shutters there wouldn't anyone to see if we were to..you know..cast anything."

Merrick thinks a moment. You have a room here? If it is upstairs, does it have a window?

"I have a room, yes, but I don't know if it has a window as I haven't really been into it. Let's go find out," replies Jerry, not quite sure what Merrick has in mind, but she's keen to try anything. Sitting around doing nothing is just awful.

[OOC: Lol, Jerry sure moves fast. She just met Merrick less than an hour ago and is already inviting him up to her room :D especially the ‘not sure what Merrick has in mind’ and ‘keen to try anything’ bits ]

The pair head up the stairs and a small number hammer-stamped on the key matches a small brass numeral on a door halfway down the hall. The room, which she thinks Erris called 'small' is actually bigger than she expected. There is a single bed, a wash-stand with a pitcher of water, and a simple table with a chair. It was clean, and probably four paces long and three wide. There is indeed a north-facing window, which is currently closed. Merrick hesitates a little before following her inside. Perhaps we can get a better idea of what is going on by looking through the window.

The wooden turn-latch resists, but eventually yields. Moonlight gives the whole town an unearthly pale-blue glow. The sky is mostly obscured, but a halo of light rings the full moon where the overcast is thinner. Mist rolls shallowly from the edge of the river across most of the town, not yet to the inn itself. Westward along The Loop she sees shapes moving in the twilight, though they are too far for her vision to decipher. Some of them appear to be wolves, but if that is true they are either attacking children, or are the size of horses!

[OOC: The moving shapes are about 100 yards to the West along the main road. Infravision only runs out to 60’, but the normal vision aided by moonlight is enough for her to tell rough shapes but no details.]

"Is that normal around here?" asks Jerry. "And, having seen that, what did you have in mind? Missile fire? My only offensive spell is like 10' range."

A look of severe concern comes over him. I... he wets his lips, I can't do much from here.. I... another pair of wolves begins to stalk out from buildings near the fight, not yet visible to those in the melee. oh no... he breathes. What do we do? he asks, almost frantic.

Jerry looks down to see if there's a roof she can drop on to.. and then sizes up the woloves for a sling shot - is there enough room?

[Ooc: thia side of the building goes straight down about 14' from the bottom of the window to the ground. The 'new' wolves are almost as far away (95 yards-ish) just hidden from those in melee by buildings.]

{OOC: is a sling shot easy ish from here? Or is the window frame going to impede it ?}

"Do you know if these large wolves are damaged by non-magical wespons?" Jerry asks the pair. "Any thoughts?"

[Ooc: Medium range (-2 to hit) for a sling bullet, Long range (-5 to hit) for a sling stone. As long as you're leaning out of the window a bit, it won't hinder yoy. Keep in mind the rules regarding firing into melee.]

I really can't tell mich of anything from here. They just look like huge wolves to me.
