Tree Lords IV

Locky watches the area thankful that she can at least walk without staggering now. "Does this forest actually stop?" She asks, "There are only so many trees you can see before it gets boring."

Still, despite her rambling she seems a little more alert than before, calling on Paladine she aids the party.
"Paladine, please help us, I know I ask a lot, but if you could see to aid us I'd really appreciate it." (Casts Prayer on the whole party.)

"It looks like there's a suitable clearing to camp up ahead, but with our experiences with clearings in this forest, I think it prudent to scout around it first" Babushka answers. "Fikod, will you come with me? I don't want to run into another wyndlass without anyone noticing."

[NoTrammeling]

Fikod loads another bolt in his crossbow, cocking it back and nodding to Babushka. "I don know, me gnomish companion, could be that me natural fear of clearings holds me back." He shivers involuntarily, swallowing hard. "I feel the tickle of Reorx's toe-hair on me back... But let us not say Fikod the Fearless did not live up to his name!" The dwarfish rogue follows Babushka, moving silently and keeping to what darkness he can find.

"I'll wait here, I guess." Locky says with a little lost look, its obvious she wants to be going with them...

Jerrard places a hand on the Kenders shoulder silently.

Babushka too keeps to the shadows. She wants to circle the clearing unseen, checking for tracks leading to it or from it. She's happy to have someone watch her back and smiles at fikod before setting out.

Babushka and Fikod slowly circle the entire perimeter of the clearing, which takes about five minutes. They don't find any tracks or signs of danger along the way. However, in the very center of the clearing there is something small and metallic, gleaming in the faint sunlight, nestled in the tall grass. Possibly a ring or coin, or something like that.

Locky casts Prayer for some reason, granting everyone a +1 to hit and damage for 6 minutes. It has 1 minute remaining.

"Ohhhh." Locky gasps, "I thought they'd be quicker!" throwing up her hands she waits for the others to return, tapping her feet.

[HorizonsDream]

"Why are you so impatience, right now?" Imani asks.

[Breila]

Babushka comes back to the group, smiling. "There is no sign of anyone lying in waiting around this clearing." she reports. "However, something gis glinting in the center of the clearing. A perfect trap for adventurers, if you ask me. Especially if the group contains a kender, a gnome and a dwarf. I'd suggest that we stay right at the edge of the clearing, staying well away from that thing."

(OOC: Has Babushka managed to find some wild squash? She will hollow them out and cook the flesh for dinner, then dry the "shells" close to the fire to have water containers)

"I don't want to be caught in another trap, really." she sighs, "Glinting? Perhaps we should have a look, well closer, not right at it." she shudders, remembering the depression.

[NoTrammeling]

Fikod returns with Babushka, greed and self-preservation waging war on his face. "Me gut's telling naught, could be that this one's safe. No foul corruption, no signs of a trap... But who leaves perfectly good steel in the middle of a clearing? Looks like a trap, aye, but it doesna smell like one." He frowns, making sure his crossbow is ready to fire. "By me shadow of stubble, I'll not lose another hair of beard!"

[Jerrard]

"What do you think Imani?" Jerrard asks, moving beside the princess, "Do we all take a look? Safety in numbers, or perhaps send a scout in.." He asks, grabbing Locky lightly by the shoulder. "Locky, hold."

[HorizonsDream]

"I'll check it out," Imani says finally. "If it is clear, I'll wave you guys over."

"Be careful," Ulster says to Imani. "I don't like the smell of this."
