Arei gives Joyceln a sideways smirk, saying nothing.

As luck has it, there are a couple of empty seats near Javos. Areilon approaches and politely asks for the nearest empty seat, and Javos nods. "By all means," he replies. A few moments after she sits, Jocelyn joins her and introduces herself.

"Name's Javos," he says in response. "You are another one of the new ones, then?"

(OOC: Areilon doesn't have any perfume in her inventory. You might be thinking of Locky.)

"Yeah," Jocelyn says as she takes a seat. "Who might you be?" she asks curiously. "Been on the ship long?"

"I'm Javos," he says with a smile. "Been on this boat for about two years now. Mostly I work the rigging, and sometimes the crow's nest," he explains.

Val heads to breakfast, though she prefers the company on women. Taking her place, she awaits the food before digging in with gusto. "Morning" is all she says

"Morning," Jocelyn says to Val as she turns back to Javos. "I guess you like it here, then?" she asks.

Javos nods to Val in greeting, then answers Jocelyn's question. "Best job I've had so far. Decent food, plenty to do, and good pay. Secure, too. Few ships would dare attack a vessel of this size."

"Doesn't that mean it gets a little boring though?" Jocelyn asks curiously. "I mean, if nothing is attacking the ship? Not that I want the ship attacked. What is it that all of you do when you are basically safely traveling on the seas?" she asks.

"Maintaining a ship of this size takes lots of work. There's always something to do," Javos explains. "I assure you, it never gets boring."

In the distance, a bell is heard ringing. "Oop, looks like breakfast is over," Javos says. "Better get to work. See you all later." He stands, busing his empty wooden tray.

Val gets it too. She empty's her tray and reports for more training.

Reporting to the main deck, she looks for the boss.

Jocelyn finishes off her breakfast, waves good bye to Javos, cleans up her tray, and makes her way back down to the kitchens.

Ouragana clears her things away, then goes on deck to check weather and wind conditions, as well as the water currents. If she doesn't find Thaddeus there (doing the same things), she'll go to his quarters and knock.

The four women receive the same jobs as yesterday. Areilon is back up in the rigging, Jocelyn in the kitchen with Noah, Val helping to train marines, and Ouragana assisting Thaddeus in deciphering the secrets of the artifact.

The next few hours pass largely without incident. It's only just before lunch time that something happens.

"Ship approaching off the bow!" calls Javos suddenly from the crow's nest. "About seven miles out!"

Should Areilon look out in that direction, she'll spot a ship off on the horizon--and what appears to be a trio of birds circling it...although they must be fairly large to be seen at this distance.

The captain and her sister step out onto the deck and approach the bow. Taking out a spyglass, the captain peers through it. "Well, shit," she says, lowering the spyglass. "Everyone on deck!" she calls out.

At once, sailors spread the word. Regardless of where anyone is on the ship, they soon get word that something is up.

"Drat, we were almost there!" Ouragana exclaims when the call comes. "But it will be good to stretch a bit." She lifts her arms, then moves her shoulders while Thaddeus puts the artifact away. Togehter, they go on deck, Ouragana in the background when Thaddeus asks what is going on.
