Jerry nods to Cross's suggestion that they should move closer, at least to be able to see better, and indicates that he should lead the way.
If he moves closer, she follows, being as quiet as she can, seeking a better view of whatever is going on.

Artanis gives Pyros a huge grin, appreciating Pyros' skills. The Ranger motions for Pyros to turn the handle and open the door, then he slowly and quietly pulls out both swords. Once Pyros has cracked the door open Artanis will listen and then peek in. Ready to move in a flash.

[For reference showing new positions. Pyros and Art are hugging the wall, so the other groups can't see them. Mira and Merrick probably can't see those hiding in the woods either.]

Artanis thinks he understands what Pyros is trying to tell him - thinks that is - one can never be completely sure with Pyros. Artanis motions that he is going to pet the dog.
The ranger then makes sure he will be on the side of the door opening, and he slowly opens the door. If it is a dog, he will use his ranger abilities to befriend it.

Artanis, still crouching, opens the door a bit to peek inside. Not ten feet feet from the entrance he sees a wolf facing the door. It immediately begins to growl menacingly.

[It is clearly hostile and he can't see the full room with the door only cracked. If he wants to attempt animal empathy he must enter the room fully]

When Pyros hears the growl he pulls the door open wide.

He growls and yips and tries to taunt the wolf!

"You smell like a wet lapdog that mated with a stinkweed!"

He will poke menacingly with the business end of his hoopak but not try to strike.

Artanis will enter the room and attempt to calm the creature using animal empathy. As the Ranger also has his weapons out, if the creature remains hostile, well the battle will begin.
