As far as Naras can tell, Pearl seems to be telling the truth. She could be an incredibly good liar, however. Leena seems to buy it, at any rate.
Pearl happily accepts the two gold coins. "I don't know if any of the people in there now are Leaguers, although they might be. But I think they're mostly just afraid of them. The Leaguers made some vague threats earlier for everyone to stay out of their business or else. Nobody wants to cross them, they're crazy. I think I overheard them say they have a hideout to the east of town, near the base of the mountains, though."
==========
Naras makes a WIS check [TN 17] (1d20): 7, pass. Pearl appears to be telling the truth.

The kohen nods, "Thanks Pearl. I think I still have that map.." She reaches into a backpack pocket. "Here we are. So show me on here where you think it is..."
**
After the halfling finishes with the map, Naras continues looking for information,
- "Do you know why they took her? Is she likely to be in imminent danger?
- "Why would they take her?
- "Do you know if the Leaguers are connected with anyone powerful on the island?
- "What can you tell me about where she'd be?
- "Any idea how many of them there are likely to be?
- "Any help would be appreciated..
- "Is there anyone else I should talk to?"
~Do I need to go try and dig her out now? Or maybe its ok to wait til morning and go with a proper set of spells.~

Naras wrote:"Do you know why they took her? Is she likely to be in imminent danger? Why would they take her?"
Pearl shrugs. "Not sure. I would guess because she was a priestess of Gonto, though. As for danger, well...they are the League. I doubt they'll treat her to tea and crumpets."
Naras wrote:"Do you know if the Leaguers are connected with anyone powerful on the island?"
She shakes her head. "If they haven't already, they probably plan to infiltrate the town's higher-ups, though. They usually do. But they haven't been here that long, so I could only guess at what, if any, progress they've made."
Naras wrote:"What can you tell me about where she'd be?"
"I think they mentioned an old mine they were staying at. I assume that's where they took her."
Naras wrote:"Any idea how many of them there are likely to be?"
"League cells tend to have about a dozen people in them, yeah? So at least that many, I'd guess," she says.
Naras wrote:"Any help would be appreciated..."
"Like what?" she asks.
Naras wrote:"Is there anyone else I should talk to?"
Leena intervenes on this question. "The wardens, of course. This is their domain. We should report it to them and let them handle it."
Pearl scoffs. "Sure, if you want to trust a faceless bureaucracy to get anything done. They'd probably bury you in paperwork."
===========
(OOC: Not sure which map you mean. There was the map of the town, and the map of the islands. The map of the town wouldn't help, as the base is not in town. The map of the islands is too big to be of help. At best, she could point to the island they are on now. Either way, I don't remember her picking up either map to bring with her.
Also, I wasn't sure if that last line was dialogue or inner monologue. It wasn't in quotation marks like the others, so I assumed the latter.)

Naras frowns, then addresses her two female companions, "I'd like to be able to prepare more suitable spells, but as I'm not as familiar with the League as I might be, I'm not certain that I have time for that; on how immediacy of Agnas's danger. Do you two have any views on this?"
**
OOC: Does Religion check give Naras any relevant insights?
OOC: How is Pearl kitted out? Does she look combat capable?
**
The kohen continues, "Leena, are there any tough Gondoites, really good in a fight, that see well in the dark, that we can trust implicitly and can be reached quickly? Preferably have a big issue with the League, too?"
After hearing Leena's response, Naras turns to Pearl, "How well do you see in the dark? Are you any good at opening locked doors quietly, if necessary? If so, would you be prepared to help rescue my friend?"

Naras wrote:"Do you two have any views on this?"
"Honestly, I think we should make a report to the wardens and let them handle it. They are the law enforcement of this town," Leena says. "But if you insist on going yourself, then we need to be cautious. We should take the time to come up with a plan, recruit allies and properly prepare. There's no telling what might be waiting for us."
"Ah, screw that," Pearl says. "By the time you've done all of that, she'll probably be dead or worse. Fortune favors the bold, and all of that." The young halfling woman isn't wearing any armor, but she does have a dagger on one hip and a coiled whip on the other.
Naras wrote:"Leena, are there any tough Gondoites, really good in a fight, that see well in the dark, that we can trust implicitly and can be reached quickly? Preferably have a big issue with the League, too?"
"Not personally," she replies. "Perhaps check the taverns and inns for hired helped? There are always mercenaries and their ilk in such places."
Naras wrote:"How well do you see in the dark? Are you any good at opening locked doors quietly, if necessary? If so, would you be prepared to help rescue my friend?"
"About as well as any halfling, I suppose," Pearl replies. She chuckles nervously, her eyes shifting back and forth. "Wh-what? Are you asking if I'm some kind of burglar or something? Well, I'm not. But I do have a few useful skills that I've picked up over time. I could help...but not for free. Those Leaguers are bound to have some valuables in their hideout. I want a fair share of it."
=============
(OOC: Although the League are made up of Crizzites, they are more of a political faction than a religious one. I don't think Religion would give any additional insight into how they work. Pearl has the Bard class, so she is combat capable.)

"Well, let's head back to the temple and think about it. Pearl, you're coming too, please. We have food."
**
OOC: What is the time system in this place? And what time is it 'now' ? Also, asked about Pearl's night vision as PHB says a % of halflings have infravision...
**
Heading back towards the temple, she continues, "So you two go back to the temple, have something to eat, might be bland, but it's nourishing. Then get your heads down for a few hours. Get Otaya to stay up and make sure the Leaguers don't decide to collect any more of our faith." She takes a step towards Leena so that Pearl can't see her giving a flick with her eyes towards Pearl to indicate to Leena that Otaya is also making sure that Pearl doesn't slide off and talk to anyone. "Oh and Leena, prepare a note saying that I ordered you to do things relating to the mine and that I coerced Pearl. Put it in a sealed envelope and leave it with Oatya. She's to give it to the wardens _only_ if I get killed and the wardens come after you two," she says, quietly. (But not quietly enough that it's impossible for Pearl to hear if she strains, hence giving cover to the 'flick of her eyes'.)
Naras continues, "I'm off to see a man about a dog. It's now, what about <blah> o'clock? I expect to be back before <blah +2> o'clock. Get Otaya to wake us all in 5 hours from now. She'll need to sleep by then, and it's a good time for us to make a move. See you in a few hours." She splits off from the others, heading roughly south.
When out of sight, plus a block, checking that she's not being followed, the dwarf heads directly to the weapon-smith's, hoping to catch him before the end of his day.
**
If Roken is there, or she can find him, she opens with, "Roken, I need to buy that special spear now. Can we do this?"
If yes, when in the shop, with the door closed, she asks him to turn his back for a few seconds, and then whips out the hidden ruby and says "ok", tossing the ruby to him. "Ok, that's pretty much all I have in the world. We can sort out the finances later. I'd normally haggle to be honest, but, and keep this strictly to yourself, the Leaguers have kidnapped one of my acolytes. Hence my need for this spear in case it turns nasty. Would you be willing to help me? There could well be some weapon play!"

"Understood," Leena says, and she and Pearl head back to the temple.
Naras heads to the weaponsmith's shop, finding that Roken has started closing up for the night. "Ah, right on time," he says. "You are here to borrow the forge?" He is surprised when she instead asks for the magic spear and forks over a ruby to pay for it. He opens up a chest to retrieve the spear and her change.
He hands her the spear and the coin. "Me?" he asks. "Are you asking me to fight? I have more experience forging swords than wielding them, I'm not sure how much aid I could offer. Surely there are warriors better skilled in the town than I."
==========
Naras pays 120 GP for a Spear +1. She gets 155 GP in change.
(OOC: It's around 6 PM.)

The dwarf hoists the spear appreciatively. "Any you'd vouch for? Preferably see well in the dark? And preferably don't like the League," she asks.
**
If there's no pick up here, Naras adds, "OK, well you keep this change for now (155g) and if there isn't a note under your shop's door in the morning that says 'Back', then I need you to go to the temple and tell the acolytes there. It means the League have either killed or captured me. They should invoke the Wardens. Keep whatever fee you deem appropriate and give the rest to the acolytes for safe keeping. Will you do this for me?"

"I'm afraid I don't really know anyone in town," he admits. Naras remembers previously he had mentioned he had not exactly been welcomed into the community since he moved here. He keeps the coin then, placing them back in his chest. "If this is your wish, then I shall respect it," he says.

Naras nods and offers Roken her hand.
Then without another word she heads off to where the mine is supposed to be, walking quickly though town and then interspersing jogging and walking when the town limit has been passed, to try and scout out the opposition.

Naras only had a vague notion of where the mine was--somewhere to the east of town, at the base of the mountains. She could keep an eye on the mountains for now, so she wouldn't lose her way. Once the sun goes down, though, she'll have to rely on her sense of direction (her infravision only extends a mere 60 feet, after all).
The first couple of miles she walks, she passes through farmland. The sun quickly drops below the horizon and in the distance, she can hear wolves howl as the moons begin to rise. The mountains are still another mile or so away, and it is now nearly 7:30. She will need to decide whether she will continue onward or return to the town as she promised to return to the temple within 2 hours, and that time is now nearly up.
=============
Naras travels through 2 miles of farmland in 80 minutes.

It's further than she was expecting and so Naras returns to the weaponsmith's shop, and pops a note under the door which says, "Back. Please hold on to the change for now."
She then returns to the church and ask anyone who's awake, "Is there's anything significant to report?" and goes on to ask, "Do we have a map of the area towards the mountain? Maybe something that might show a mine-working?" When it's obvious that the instructions are clear, Naras says, "Right, I'm off to bed. Wake the other two just after midnight, show them whatever you've found in the way of maps or mines therein, and tell them to wake me about 4 and a half hours from now. When you've done that, go get some sleep yourself."
The dwarf goes to bed for some sleep, hoping and parying (lierally) that she'll be able to refresh her spells and that Agnas is ok in the meantime.
OOC: Based on 4 hours required for regaining/replacing level 3 and less spells, correct? I hunted for this for 20 mins, can't find it though; this is from memory. She'd adjust the times accordingly. Please advise.

Naras heads back to town, which takes another 80 minutes. It's around 8:40 when she returns. She hurries to the weaponsmith, and quickly uses her chalk to write out a note on one of her pieces of parchment, then slips it under the shop's door.
When she returns to the temple, almost an hour later than she had promised, the acolytes are relieved to see her. "We thought maybe they grabbed you, too," Otaya says.
Asking for a status report, Leena says, "I think we may have something. I did some digging in the library for old mines in that area. I found references to a place called Cinderfell mine. It was an old iron mine that the prisoners had to work before the island was freed. It's been abandoned ever since then, supposedly. If that is the mine where the Leaguers took Agnas, then we know exactly where to go. The book included specific coordinates."
===========
(OOC: Not quite. Restoring spells requires 6 hours of rest. It then takes 10 minutes per spell level to re-memorize a new spell. So 10 minutes to memorize a level 1 spell, 20 minutes to memorize a level 2 spell, and 30 minutes to memorize a level 3 spell. So it's about 9 PM now, she could sleep until 4 AM and then spend an hour regaining her spells.)

OOC: OK, ty. Was actually going to swap some out for more combat orietated ones. (If that required casting them before sleep then she would have.) Anyway, visitirs just arrived. Will go round spells and timing when they've gone. I sooo want to get on with this.

(OOC: Yeah, you can cast your current ones before sleep to empty them out, so you can replace them after rest. It will take longer to refill them all, of course.)
