"You do realize we are breaking the law right now, right, Ouragana?" Jocelyn asks. "We don't exactly have a lot of time to search every single room at this point."

"Then perhaps you could leave some sort of alarm behind us? Storm Sorcerer I used to know trapped his quarters with magic bell..." Arei suggests as she peers into the hole. "Ready to jump into the fire again Val?" She asks with a wink.
"I took two out by aiming for the eye, I reckon that's where we should aim." She adds. (What can she see?)

"Whoever constructs and controls these things breaks the law a lot more seriously than we do, and they might want to come after us again to make sure we can't tell anyone" Ouragna answers to Jocelyn.
At Areilpn's remark, she makes a face. "Somehow, I never seemed to get the hang of that spell" she confesses. "So all I can do is take the rear and pay as much attention as possible to our backsides"

Peering into the hole, Areilon can't really see much. A staircase that descends into a very large room. She can see a few boxes and crates from her vantage point, but she'll need to go deeper to see any more.

"Then that will have to be enough." Arei responds and starts to make her way down the stairs when Val does too. "Joyceln in the middle, Oura at the back?" She suggests, not really waiting for a reply.

Dumping the carcass ahe has been packing, Val pauses.
"Maybe we should get the watch involved."

Val discards the broken spider she's been carrying.
===========
(OOC: I'm assuming since Areilon was waiting for Val to go first, and Val is hesitating, that means Areilon hasn't descended, either?)

(Indeed, she isnt totally crazy, she will wait a moment)
"Really Val? They would just lock us up too." Arei suggests, "let's just do this."

Ouragana goes back to the door and looks and listens out while the others decide what to do.

"We can get the wardens once we are done. While the spiders might be in here, and that should be proof enough this guy is behind making them, we don't really know for sure about it," Jocelyn points out. "So let's go."

"OK" Val goes down the stairs watching for movement.

"Then let's do it." Arei walks down the stairs, sword in hand being as quiet as she can..
Hide in Shadows and move silently, both fail.
1d100=83, 1d100=79
Pointless because Val isn't being quiet.

Val descends down the staircase, followed by Areilon, then Jocelyn, and finally Ouragana.
The basement is a large room, nearly as big as the entire house upstairs. It's dusty and every corner houses cobwebs and spiders (real ones, not mechanic giant ones). The place is illuminated with numerous lit candles sitting on the various crates and barrels around the room.
At the far end is a table, and standing before it is Frisno Tinskin, the clockmaker. He looks quite different from before, however. He's wearing ring mail and a coif and has a short sword buckled to his side. He is also wearing a bandoleer with four small pistols on it. He is currently finishing up loading a fifth, when he turns toward them.
"Hmph. You're here. I suspected you might be when my spiders didn't come back. Didn't think it would take this long, though. Did you get lost or something?" Despite the hardness in his voice, the thick glasses he wears magnifies his eyes to a ridiculous size, making it difficult to take him seriously as a threat. "No matter." He whistles, and six mechanical spiders come out of hiding, forming a barrier of protection between him and the party.
"How do you like my creations?" he asks casually. "They're quite expensive and take a long time to build, but I'm quite pleased with the final product. They haven't really had real battle experience, though. I hope to collect quite a bit of data from you lot, in fact."

"Why are you doing this?" Jocelyn asks as she takes up her warhammer again. She wasn't quite looking forward to this at all.

"I'm just defending my home," Frisno replies. "I'll explain to the wardens that you four broke curfew, forced your way into my home and tried to kill me. Which is all completely true, by the way," he points out, gesturing to them with his pistol.
