FC1 - CH 1: Welcome to Sturnheim

Her opponent's dagger finds a home in her left shoulder, sinking in half-way. Luckily, the copious amounts of wine she drank helps in dulling the pain. However, it also makes it difficult for her to hit the man. Her mace swings wild in random directions. The other assailant gets knocked in the ribs by accident when he tries to slip past her, dropping him to the ground.

Tavi looks a little surprised as the guy she wasn't even aiming for goes down. Though, she continues her attack on the second guy, swinging her mace at him once again.

The final assailant sneers. "Bitch, you're going to regret this!" he says, stabbing her in the thigh. Counter-attacking, Tavi smashes him right in the nose with the head of her mace. He stumbles backwards, before collapsing to the ground, bleeding profusely.

Despite the pain Tavi is in, she rushes over to Poot. "Hey, are you okay?" she asks. She kneels down beside the old man to make sure he is okay.

Poot is definitely not okay. She can tell he's been stabbed at least twice and is losing a lot of blood. Feebly, he reaches up and grasps her left wrist, drawing her closer. He gasps out, "My house...papers...Sword...is key...Forsaken Road...through hills...south at dragon...fortune...do...tell...Val." Then he goes limp, his sightless eyes staring beyond her.

"Wait...wait, where is your house?!" Tavi yells at the body. "What is he talking about? Tell Val? Maybe he means that militia guy I met earlier?" she asks herself. Quickly, she stands up, and without another thought in her head she runs to where she remembers the militia being stationed at. She pounds on the door to hopefully get their attention.

The door swings open, and it is none other than Valdar. He looks down at her with mild annoyance. "What is it? Wait," he says, noticing she is bleeding and covered in blood, as well as holding a bloody mace. "What in the Nine Hells happened?"

"I saw three men beating on Poot," Tavi says quickly. "He left his coin purse in the inn, and Mama Chipmunk asked me to return it to him, so that is how I found them. Without thinking, I ran in to save him. The bodies are still in the alleyway. He said something about papers at his house, the Foresaken Road, and that the sword is the key before he died."

Valdar tries to quickly take this in. "Take me to him, right away. You should have called the guard immediately." He quickly unsheathes his broad sword and grabs a torch before calling for assistance. Two more guards step out. "Come with us," he says simply, then turns to Tavi, awaiting her to lead the way.

Tavi leads him to the scene of where she left the three bandits and then Poot's body. "I just reacted," she admits to Val.

Valdar kneels by one of the assailants and checks him. "They still live. Bind their wounds, then take them to the jail for questioning," he tells his men. He then checks on Poot, confirming the old man is dead. Shaking his head, he turn turns back to Tavi. "You took on three men on your own? Impressive. But in the future, it's better to call on the guard. Go back to the inn, get some rest. Tomorrow, I suggest going to visit Miranda. Maybe she can heal you up a bit. For now, this is a crime scene; no civilians. Sturnheim thanks you for capturing these hoodlums, but leave the rest to us."

"Wait. What about Poot's house? Where is that?" Tavi asks.

[JadedDM]

"We'll check it out, once we've dealt with these miscreants and...cleaned this mess up," Valdar assures her. "You've done enough. Now, go and rest. Leave this to the professionals."

[HorizonsDream]

"No," Tavi says stubbornly. "I want to be apart of this. I was the one who told about it, and I think I kind of owe it to him now to look more into it."

Valdar sighs, shaking his head. "I admire your gusto, miss. But you are a mess. And no offense, you smell like a brewery. It's best if you get some rest. Look, I'll tell you what. Come by tomorrow, and if we've learned anything useful, we'll let you know. And if you remember anything else important, you can tell us. All right? Now go on. Before I have to arrest you for interfering in a criminal investigation," he adds lightly with a grin.
