Galenye smiles back to Erastin as he closes his eyes over the thought of these stories. "Such stories make you realize you should live for the now. You never know what might happen," she states.

"We might have to have a talk later on," Galenye says softly to Erastin. After all, she hasn't been blind to the way he has been acting towards her. Sooner or later, she knows it will have to be addressed too. Now really wasn't the time though. It gave her some time to sort out her own feelings on the matter.

Targin, bringing up the rear, slouches a bit in the saddle, changing position to get more comfortable.

The next few hours passed without incident. It wasn't until around Ninth Watch that something happened. Erastin is the first to notice some movement off to the side, in the brush. At first, he wonders if he only imagined it...or if that stag was tailing them.

Alas, it was not so. Eight goblins, armed in leather armor and carrying short swords and shields, suddenly broke from the shrubberies and charged at the party screaming. However, they broke cover too soon. They're forty yards away and it may take a bit for them to actually reach the party.

Targin dismounts and readies his weapon, waiting on the rest. He turns his mount around and gives a little slap on the rump to get his pony out of the way.

Karathos sighs.

"I'm going to put you down, Jinali. You're safer now behind my back than on my shoulders."

He calmly sets the mage down and draws his two battle axes. Then he walks towards the goblins. There is a distinct swagger in his gait. He waits for them to come within range, then bellows a battle cry and cuts into them with his axes.

INIT 2, Bonebiter hits AC -1 for 16 dmg, Heartcleaver misses

Erastin draws his sword, staying astride Gallen he waits for the creatures to approach. Hoping they will be picked off at range by the archers.

"Hold, wait for them to come to us, shoot them as they approach." He comments as Galenye dismounts.

Targin follows Karathos toward the ugly things.

As they get close he adds, "Back to back my friend."

As the charge is launched he runs as fast as his little legs will go

Drawing his blade, Erastin gives the group sound advice. It would take time for the goblins to reach them, which would allow Targin and Galeneye to pick off a few with their bows first. A pity nobody listens to him. Karathos casually strides up to meet the goblins half-way, Targin pumping his little dwarven legs to keep up, and consequently they both cross right into Galeneye's line of fire.

Selowen curses in Elvish. "You oafs! I was going to cast a spell!" she calls after the minotaur and dwarf. She puts her fists on her hips, angrily. "What a pair of showoffs," she grumbles, unable to cast her incantation without risking hitting her companions, as well.

The goblins reach Karathos and Targin and immediately begin surrounding the pair, ready to cut them to ribbons. The minotaur bellows a battle cry and swings both of his axes, completely splattering one of the goblins all over the grass. They'll be burying that one in a shoe box, to be sure.

Karathos is grateful Targin has shouted to him, so he knows he must not hack at every head that comes close to him near waist level, especially if he turns. He continues to swing his battle axes at the goblins. This time, however, he misses

INIT 5, 2 misses (6 and 9), typed nonsense for the first DAM roll, but it doesn't matter
