"Jerry, in the books the bad guys use coaches like this to get around. It feels too..." Mira shakes her head, "What's up there Pyros?"

"Lots of straw, huge pile, sacks of grain and a pitchfork. I kinda want to just stab the pile with the pitchfork."

"Only you Pyros." Mira giggles for the first time in a long time, reminding herself that even with the bad things going on. One can always rely on a Kender.
'Look carefully. Cross.. perhaps you could join him?" Mira suggests, ladders and skirts didn't really go together she has decided straight away. "What is all this rust? Feels.. familiar."

Pyros will ascend the rest of the way and pick up the pitchfork, then start stabbing the pile. Sending some down to the horses.
"Midnight snack my beauties?"

[Something could easily be inside the coach (the curtains are closed)]
Jerry shrugs, Vampires and certain other sentient undead often follow patterns they did in life. I think any such creatures using coaches would have once been Counts or lords; which our foe was neither. In addition, the... thing has only been in this land as long as we have, and only in Skald less than a week. Unless it has decided to appropriate this from a very high-profile establishment, I doubt it is related. She explains further, He would only be able to recover from our battle tonight in a secluded place with his own gravedirt, though I'm not sure how he managed that unless he came to this realm prepared or the dark powers that hold sway here made some accomodation. Even so, we are most likely looking for some very secluded low-traffic or heavily defended place.
Pyros pokes the pile of straw, though naught lies beneath but more straw. He sends some down as a treat for the horses, which happily partake of the unexpected snack.
Merrick joins Mira examining the rusty red dist. Hmm... it doesn't seem to be blood... it's almost like... Ah! Meekulbrau! He pops the lid on the barrel in the cormer by the Stained rags. A barrel of cheap Meekulbrau. It would flake off after drying, like it does on glass or metal flagons. It seems like someone smeared it on the coach for some reason... perhaps for some special event? He finishes, perplexed

'I believe I understand." Karl answers, the carriage felt very wrong. It wasn't what they were looking for, but somehow it was related to something he couldn't put his finger on.

"The note. Feeding the Meekulbrau... I wonder." Mira gently opens the wagon door, keeping the crossbow leveled with her other hand. "It isn't in here, but there is something else going on here. I wish Art was here, I miss that grumpy.."

"Well that was fun." He will slide down the ladder.
"Find anything here?"

Mira opens the carriage, which is upholstered in crimson velvet with fine silver fittings; but is otherwise empty.

Kybalion notes the demeanor the others take and tries to keep up with what he can. Having pulled guard duty more times than he can recount and chasing after evil-doers, he goes after the piled up hay. Tricks like that are the usual go to for those attempting to elude. He uses his pole arm to systematically go through each pile scattering and poking. Making sure each one contains no creature.

"Not his Carriage I suspect. But someone used it." Mira sighs, she has been enthused by catching this beast and now.
"So just so I understand. It would be resting in it's own dirt? So In a coffin or even I don't know." She looks at the barrel in the corner, "Or say that barrel? The odds of it getting a coffin brought through that mist is unlikely.. and it follows the patterns it had in life, so. Jerry where did it live? What sort of place? Would it seek that here?"
She keeps the crossbow ready while she talks.

Pyros walks over to be beside Mira and straightens up. Trying to look serious.
"This seems to have turned into a detective book. I used to borrow these and read them all the time"

Jerry frowns, We had a normal residence, but he was often away working as a Harper. I'm afraid I'm not sure where he would go. We should return to the inn and rest. In the morning we can consult a map of the area and pick out some likely areas for our search.
Smiling faintly at the Kender she pats his head, It really is. Your keen eye and nimble nature will be critical for our success i'm sure.

Karl moves around slowly, this whole thing felt quite dishonourable, the creature has drained him, he has felt his very life slipping away. He reminded himself to discuss that with Lady Jerry later.
"Agreed. There is a tale here, but not the one we wish to learn this evening."

"Kybalion." Mira calls, Sir Karl is right, it's not here." Having checked the doors she closes them.gently.
(I'm assuming there isn't a back or anything she could check as well? The creature isn't here, but she knows something is going on).
