I'm fine with whichever but could do with knowing; (if it's a "put to rest" then I wont waste effort. But if he wants to play but doesn't have time now and expects to later then I'm ok with doing it for him.)
PS If he's worried about not knowing the rules, you can tell him at least one other player is in the same boat and is doing just fine.

He is GM'ing our RL 5E game we have going.

OK, that's fine then. Have the discussion and let me know..
I'm ok with finishing off the char and then NPCing the PC for a bit, (otherwise it could be quite tricky to add him to the group in a believable manner). Conversely if his schedule doesn't permit him to play within, say, the next half-year then it's prob better to let the monk expire.

He says that basically by the time he gets his kids in bed he doesn't have the mental aptitude to get the finishing touches done. But would like to play the character still.

I know the feeling since most of my posting comes from work.

So, yes if you can finish it off, he should be able to join in, in less than 6 months.

Just for info, although alignment is very soft pedalled in 5th edition, I'm old school and still use it.
I try to avoid using it in a punitive manner (although potentially it could disturb a Divine caster's relationship with the relevant Deity) rather as a potential source of modest RP bonus to XP.
I hope that's of interest.

Sorry for the hiatus.
We can try a skill challenge whereby the 3 intrepid investigators have the opportunity to put their heads together to see if they can figure out any more about (or from) the deceased's kit, activities or contacts. (This is what I mentioned to you before, Noct.)
Need you folks to decide what sort of thing it is that you'd like to be able to investigate (based on the things/information currently available.) If no one's bothered with doing this, we can skip it.
I plan to get a post up in the main thread tomorrow.

With everything out, and everyone all focusing on the items, Sue would like to tie this stuff all together, as to possibly who or why he was paying people off, or what he was paying them off for. Trying to find similarities in any of the items, like where they could be used or if they can be used together.

Something to draw in that missing link that seems to be eluding the groups investigatory attempts.
