WotL OOC Thread II

This 2E Dragonlance game is set in the city of Haven, during the War of the Lance. Haven is a city undergoing great upheaval. First massive numbers of refugees pour in, then the city is conquered by a draconic army. Can our heroes survive under this dark occupation?

Tristen, at this moment, the minotaur should be noticeable, but you shouldn't notice the very plain looking half-elf buying the clothes.

Elves are still pretty rare in the city. You and tulbas (whom Grubnick has never met) may be the only ones left not part of the 'elven underground' which stays out of public plav3s like say... the central market...

Not to mention you are probably the only one around not dressed for winter ;) but it's up to Jaded anyway :)

All of the elves were rounded up during the occupation and taken to the temple. None were seen again. Tulbas was an exception, since he became Magnus' apprentice and therefore was considered a 'dark elf.' (Which means if Tulbas' plan had worked and the Belzorites had gone after Magnus and somehow killed him, Tulbas' own life would be forfeit, too, even if he managed to escape. )

Half-elves weren't touched, but most of them hide their heritage when they can (Arulia, for instance, usually covers up her ears with her hair). Although this has as much to do with regular, everyday prejudice among humans than the dragonarmy's presence.

Ne-Chanz really stands out. Not only is he a 6'11" minotaur, but he's completely snow white. It would be hard to miss him in any situation, including a crowded market bazaar.

Felran, by comparison, probably isn't terribly noteworthy. He's a half-elf (well, he looks like one) with bright red hair, and he's dressed more for summer than autumn, but aside from that, there's probably nothing about him that really grabs the eye.

Really tempted to do a full nelson on Ne-Chanz if he does hit the kender :)

And now that it is officially October, I went ahead and sent mgbevan an email. I hope he returns soon, he's missed the entire chapter so far.

Plus, it would be funny to include him in Arulia's current plotline. After all, he is an eligible, fairly wealthy bachelor.

(OOC:
1. Sorry for disappearing without announcement. It was unexpected.
2. Why would they think Tulbas lies? It is a reasonable scenario that he doesn't know who came to fetch him. The story he gave them had enough truths and explanations.

Under normal circumstances, they may have believed him. They would have given him a little free reign around the compound (probably with an escort at first) for a month or two. If he tried to escape or cause trouble, they'd have killed him or turned him into a Histachii. But if he proved his loyalty, they'd let him undergo the change and become one of them.

So what went wrong? Well, the others tried and failed to rescue him. This in itself would have put them on edge and made them paranoid, but it was made far worse when Grubnick convinced them that he was a cleric of Takhisis (and they believed him, since they saw him use clerical magic) and he demanded they release Tulbas specifically. So as far as they are concerned, Tulbas is not only an agent of the church, but he's so valuable that they sent a priest after him. Therefore they now think he has a ton of valuable information and intelligence that they can use against the church, and don't believe him when he says he has no idea who tried to rescue him. They are freaked out, very paranoid and now believe Tulbas is the enemy, not a potential ally.

... my bad, dude... really thought they'd go for that and try to escape.

Since I nearly got killed trying to rescue you, how about we call it even

Well, there's plenty of blame to go around. Tulbas was the one who got himself captured in the first place, after all, by wandering around late at night, alone, after curfew, in an area with reported kidnappings. Grubnick had no idea what was going on or how his actions might complicate things.

Really, this whole quest has been one big boondoggle so far. I didn't expect Tulbas to act alone, I didn't expect Haahqae to try to sneak in alone, I didn't expect to be trying to NPC Gregeddin for the whole thing. I figured they'd do what they did last time--hire a large group of NPCs that were mostly higher level than them to clean out the whole place without any mess at all.

Yeah... in the process of doing that now ;) And if we get xp before we go back, that 2k for the annual reward you mentioned is gonna bump me up a lvl :D. I might actually have enough heals to bring us all back to full hps if I roll well enough...

Do you run it where pcs automatically get their new hps in full when injured, or calculate the percent damage and adjust the new hps that way? (I.e. bob has 6/12 hps, then levels. He gains 4 total max hps, but only gains 2hps at the moment he levels, resulting in 8/16 preserving 50% of max.)

Yeah, new HP rolled is added to both current HP and max HP. So Bob would go from 6/12 to 8/16 when leveling up.
