Okay, I'm glad to hear that. I don't want any resentments harbored for any injustices (perceived or real). It's been my experience that if a player feels cheated, they may act out later on or just stop having fun altogether. I just wanted to make sure that wasn't the case, and if it was, to do as much damage control as possible. I'm glad the air is clear between us.

Cooties, officially, are head lice. But in modern American slang, cooties is an imaginary disease that all little girls have, which repulses obnoxious little boys. (i.e., "Eww, girls! Don't touch them, you'll get COOTIES!") I was making a little joke, implying Raistlin didn't want to be near a girl (Goldmoon) for fear of getting cooties.

Here we have another big deviation. In the books, of course, Goldmoon stepped forward and offered to heal the sick cleric.

"But this was not the act of a foolish, hysterical woman. Goldmoon was far from that. She had ruled her tribe in all but name for ten years, ever since sickness had struck her father like a lightning bolt, leaving him unable to speak clearly or to move his right arm or leg. She had led her people in times of war with neighboring tribes and in times of peace. She had confounded attempts to wrest her power from her. She knew that what she was doing now was dangerous. These strange clerics filled her with loathing. But they obviously knew something about this staff, and she had to know the answer." -- Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Chapter 8 (Search for Truth. Unexpected Answers.)

I had kind of expected, though, that Breila's Goldmoon would not be as reckless. My experiences with her character in Pod-Caverns has shown me she tends to be fairly cautious, even a tad distrusting (most of the time, anyway). And it wasn't like the description of the clerics would put anyone at ease. But it's not a problem in the long term. The information that would have been revealed in this encounter can be simply given at a later time, in a different way.

It's very interesting to me (and likely to those of you who have read the books) to see how differently things might turn out in this adventure. All ready, I'm seeing differences in the way the party interacts with each other. Me, I've been playing the NPCs to the hilt, often quoting dialogue directly from the books. Of course, the further we advance, the more things will change, and the less I'll be able to do that.

In a way, it's almost like I'm a time traveler, come to the past. I know what will happen in the original timeline. But the more we deviate from that timeline, the more uncertain of the future I become. I think that's very cool. I hope the rest of you are enjoying it as much as I am.

Me too! I know the text rather well, Jerrard is getting sick of me prompting him for the right words to say!

Hehehe.

Here's something to ponder. In the Pod-Caverns game, Goldmoon is still technically alive (unless she dies in this game, causing a time paradox!). And in this game, Babushka is a small child still living on Sancrist Island! Unfortunately, Sancrist lies outside the scope of this adventure, so it's highly unlikely we'd ever have the opportunity to bump into her. But who knows! I may find a way to work in a reference somehow, we'll see.

Would Babushka be a small child? She's 80 in the Pod-Caverns, so she would be a little over fifty. Not a middle-aged person, to be sure, but a child? I'd rather say an adolescent, perhaps just staring to roam about with her mentor ranger. But you're right, she'll be on Sancrist.

Well, something like that. According to the PHB, a 60 year old gnome would be the equivalent of a 15 year old human. So, yeah, I suppose adolescent would be appropriate in her 50s.

Jerrard is a year old and in Palanthas. Locky and Shay haven't been born yet, nor has Elvenoff.

Gotta say, I am trying to stay true to her Character, in the books she did not really find herself until she had her first battle (basically what would have happened if she would have fought the Clerics, just like Jaded said).

I basically, she will come regardless, she is quite determined.

BUT, right now you have the child, Laurana... lol!

Don't worry, once we get to Xak Tsaroth there will be lots and lots of battles for Laurana to find herself. The entire city is basically one big dungeon crawl. :D
