Act 1, Scene 1: "Through the Undergrowth" (Main Game Thread)

Hearing the scrabbling noise from the east, Lianr heads in that direction, with quietly spoken elven words, "Movement, come," to the humans.

The goblin cooperates fully and Nocturno binds him. Nocturno glances at the papers on the desk. Most of them are in goblin, but one is a crude map of the southern edge of the canton. It clearly shows their current location marked wiyh a red x, as well as another location to the west along the edge of the chasm marked with a red square.

Katten moves closer and can see between the columns is a more personal chamber lined with furs of better condition; including a rug from a blackbear with lots of bite and claw marks on it.

Linar speaks in Elven to the humans, which they apparently understand. Eariel nods to them but motions for Tag to stay with the other humans. She and Hew follow the Drow into the new area. [Linar now sees what Katten and Nocturno do]

While the others are busy with the goblin, Linar nocks an arrow to his bow and silently skirts the RH (W & S) wall, looking for crevices or hidy-holes ending up, if nothing significant shows first, as far east as he can go {OOC: presumably 120' max}. If the cavern system continues further onward he will then listen and peer into the darkness ahead.

"Look at these marks. We should probably investigate. Can you also read goblin? he will look at his new ally.(Katten)

"Can you see what he was doing in that garbage?"

"I can read the scrawl that Nisserr call writing... As for what he looked for, I ask him." Katten responds and approaches the Goblin with her sword drawn.

"What were you looking for? You will tell me or I will kill you. I have no love for your people." She gets within his personal space and presses her sword to its chest. "Then, where are the other colony's? They have our people..We want them back." She says all this in Goblin while considering the Blackbear rug with anger.

Linar skirts the edge of the new, more southern chamber. The area is relatively plain regarding the walls, and proves to be an end to the cavern system.

Katten presses her sword and questions against the captive goblin. Looking?! Nothing! Well, not nothing, something! Anything! I just try to grab what I can and get out, but you block the way. I no want to fight, just want to leave. I never go back, I just go far away! Other places on map, he nods to the sketch on the table. One kind of hidden like this place, have to go to edge of canyon to see it. Other not hidden, but well guarded. Both on map, this place not on map. I don’t know which slaves are where, but they both have some. Lots more goblins, too. Many more than here.

"Nothing else this way. Seems we're done at this end," states Linar in elven, and then inquires, "Any more captives to release? And goes the goblin know what god or demon was being serviced with the alter?"

Just to be sure, the subterranean elf wanders round near the walls on the E/N sides in case he spots anything secretly concealed, such as doors or compartments..

"Nisserr is coward, looking to escape, he isnt looking for anything. Shaman was called 'Bone Priest' he served Ossunin, me not know who that is. They work for Axebender, Zag’Rek told by him to find something." She keeps her sword levelled at the Goblin.

"You show me where this place is on map." She orders, the sword at his throat, "Zag’Rek get slaves to dig, he looking for something for Axebender, he big chief?"

Curiousity captures Thoreau... Who tags along unseen (99% move silently and hide in shadows) behind Linar.... and watches the elf poke around.

When Linar moves on, Thoreau sniffs around the areas that Linar was searching, wondering what the subterranean elf was looking for..

Nocturno will fumble with the name Ossunin.

Linar shrugs, not recognizing the name.

He will hand the "leash" to Katten.

Then Nocturno will head to the forest elves and ask about the name Ossunin.

"These goblinkind seem to be worshipping a diety named Ossunin. Ever heard of them?"

The captive nods as well as he is able with a sword at his throat, Axebender Wetrock's chief. Ordered Bone-Priest to find something. the goblin shivers despite himself at the mention of the priest. He never find it. Slaves used to dig, make cave bigger for Zag'Rek and search for something... even Bone-Priest not know what, only that it magic.

When questioned abput the lair he says, Just follow trail, i show you trail! If they see me they kill me! You have map, you no need me show you! he pleads.

Linar continues around, looking for any hidden passages but finds none. Meamwhile, Nocturno returns to the wild elves to ask about Ossunin. We had never heard of him either, until our capture. The Wetrocks tribe follows him...some, like the Bone Priest, even worship him. He spoke of Ossunin as powerful beyond compare, but... Idnendien shrugs, To a goblin, what is not powerful? Still... they believed absolutely... The captives who have been here the longest say those who were too weak to dig were sacrificed to Ossunin... then fed to Kak... You heard the Bone-Priest's prophecy... what do you make of it?

Katten gets the impression she could easily find the approximate location of the lairs with the map.

Linar returns to have another poke around the altar as there's some chance that things were missed during the rush to 'clear' the cavern system. Seeing that Thoreau is following, the elf talks to him about simple nothings, to see how he responds. If the soldiers wish to go with him, he'll thence lead them to the stores and outside when they're ready.

{OOC1: I'm assuming we've taken the sacks of money with us. If detail on transport needs adding then Linar will accept somone's help with carrying it. The sacks can be easily placed on the floor is combat kicks off so shouldn't be a problem provided we don't mind 'chinking' noises. Linar will take the broken sack that he's 'sleeved' and another if necessary but won't carry more than two sacks at once.}
