Liri accepts her copy with a salute. "Thank you, (add appropriate rank here)." Then she joins the others in the file for her breakfast.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
Galanis looks at the weapons and the soldiers around. If he sees a group joking or arm wrestling he will join them and join the bets and wrestle too.
Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
Angel re-stocks her arrows before strapping the second blade to her hip, the battered old blade hung loosely at her side.
Collecting some food she walks to the Primus.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
The legionnaires in the courtyard are talking quietly, but not really goofing off. As Galanis approaches to initiate a conversation, their body language is dismissive, if not actively hostile. The men appear alert and tense, as if waiting for something.
Tanulan is again in his tent, but the sidewalls have been pulled aside on half of two walls, leaving one corner open to the courtyard. Inside, he has a trestle table set up with benches. At the head of the table sits Tanulan, clad in a chiton and trousers, with his gladius hanging at his hip. Fraso, looking better for having had a bath and a change of clothing, but still somewhat shaken and tired, is seated to Tanulan's right, and is quietly chewing on a hunk of bread while some eggs go cold on his plate.
As the group collects their breakfast, Tanulan beckons them into his tent, and gestures to the empty seats.
"A glorious morning, is it not? Although it does look like we may see some rain later today.
"I was just speaking with Fraso about the capital, and how nice it is there this time of year. I am displeased that I can not be there myself right now, but duty calls."
Fraso greets the group, and once they have all settled in, says: "I am soon to be brought to the capital with great haste. This means leaving many things behind, including my escort and my wagon. You are, therefore, released from your posting as my bodyguards, effective immediately. The premature end to your contract does not represent any dissatisfaction with your services - in fact you have executed the terms of your contracts more than satisfactorily to this point, and a message to that effect will be delivered to your guild. I thank you for your service
"A good part of my coinage was lost in the attack on the wagon, but Primus Tanulan has generously offered to contribute financially to offset the shortfall." He looks to Tanulan timidly. It is possible that he spent some time last night arguing for this arrangement, but he certainly isn't in a position to push the issue, or any issue, with the primus.

Liri enjoys her breakfast and listens. She doesn't join the conversation, because the matters discussed do not concern her.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
"You are safe my Lord, that is payment enough, I feared.." Angel halts her conversation choosing to change the subject. "The Primus has ensured we are re-equiped and provisioned, some funds for essentials would be helpful."
"Has the Primus informed you that if you were to release us, as you have, we have offered to aid in finding Quintus? These people shouldn't suffer, the acts that are occurring here should not be allowed to continue. I was hoping you might be able to offer some advice? Anything we can offer to fight against one who can raise the dead... Those that attacked us when we arrived, they need to loose their head, what others might we encounter?" Angel keeps talking, forcing herself to keep focused.

Seeing Angel struggle, Liri remembers the distraction spell Fraso has been using, and tries to focus on him.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
Feeling the tense in the atmosphere Galanis alerts Angel quietly, "Beware... The 'Primus' might have some plan that will not satisfy us at all. It's only a hunch but be ready to protect... hmm... well... yourself, us and Frasco."
Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
Fraso takes another bite of his breakfast, then says: "These walking corpses are of a type unfamiliar to me, though I have encountered references to such in the past, in the writings of Russo. If only I had my books, but they are back in Diotua..." the man trails off, lost in thought for a second, then begins speaking quickly, as if he's remembered something important
"Many walking corpses are incapable of thought or volition, but can be made to follow simple instructions. These seem even more rudimentary, seeking only to feed. And I am told that their victims rise after death, thus increasing their numbers." He pauses again, his expression suddenly stricken with fear. "They must be contained. Should one of these reach a large city, with a dense population, the effects would be catastrophic! This Quintus is a madman, loosing these things on the world without watching them."
"I shall alert all the local garrison commanders to destroy them on sight, Master Fraso. Fear not." Tanulan interjects. Then he speaks to the group. "But should you encounter these walking corpses, it would be best for you to put them down quickly, rather than letting them escape. This is not an obligation, but perhaps you would consider it your contribution to the greater good.
"But this does bring me to the task at hand, and it is best we clearly state it, so there are no misunderstandings later. Find Quintus, and bring him back alive. We will drag him back to the capital in chains and and you and this pathetic little village will be free and clear.
"Now I am of a mind to be generous this morning, so here is my proposal. Should it prove impossible to capture Quintus after you find his base of operations, bring me solid intelligence about his whereabouts, forces, and defenses, and accompany my cohort as we take him down, and we shall call that a win. Fair enough?"

Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
Ari watches the necromancer closely, showing nonthing of his thoughts on his face. He asks Fraso for more details regarding the undead. Wit' yer... unique perspective... What is the best way to stop these... abominations? Fire? Blow ta tha head?

"Thank you Master Fraso. I'll keep those ideas in mind. And you have suggested the same idea as I was thinking, take them down as soon as possible. Hence the extra blade, I should have asked for an axe." She winks, and turns her attention to Tanulan.
"That is a fair suggestion, are we all in agreement?" She asks the group, "Once we leave Master Frasos employ, I am no longer set to give you orders." She waits.
"I believe loosing the head was the best idea, was it not?" She adds in response to Ari.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
"There are many ways that fire can kill men, ferrarius, but this is largely because life is fragile, and living things feel pain. To destroy one of these walking corpses, it would be necessary to reduce the body to ashes, or to heat the brain sufficiently to cook it, which would require a very hot fire or a very long time.
"And since the head, or more specifically the brain, seems to be the repository of the force animating them, it would seem that destroying it seems the most effective way of defeating them."
Fraso turns to Angel and says: "You have done well in my service, Gallius. Please know that I have done all I can as well. And I am sorry for how it has turned out." He seems sad - defeated - and very small at the moment.
Tanulan then speaks up: "I think Zelmo can find you an axe before you depart, if that is your desire. He griped when Lucius requisitioned your other gear. Perhaps it would do him some good to be reminded that his duties are constant, rather than convenient. Just say the word." Then he rises from the table and drops his napkin next to his empty plate.
"Oh, and we have one more matter to attend to before you set off on your errand. I mentioned last night that I would need some surety that you shall return, rather than taking advantage of my trust and running off into the wilderness to escape Haro's wrath. I think I have just the thing." At his gesture, four armed legionnaires enter the tent.
One of them opens the curtain to the dividing tent, revealing Tanulan's well-appointed private chamber beyond.
Salia is seated there, on the rugs at the foot of the bed, dressed only in a thin chemise, with a long chain around her neck, the other end of which is fastened to one of the tent posts.
"The young lady is, for the time being, my special guest. No harm will come to her, provided you keep your side of our arrangement."
