As the party draw farther away from the jail towards home, the girl begins to look more and more nervous. We… we must be careful… he will see me with you… he will punish me… I… Fervent glances dart down every side street, between each house, towards every place someone could be hiding; her dark hair swishing back and forth as her head moves frantically. The mist thickens, swirls and eddys wafting around their legs as they move. Finally the group reaches The Loop and the girl stops. Please. If you truly mean to help me, find me at the Old Kartakan Inn in Skald in one week. I must make arrangements, but we can speak there secretly. I am staying at the Songstress tonight, we must part ways for now. Please… he has eyes everywhere, we cannot be seen together in public. The mists are growing thick and I had best be off the streets. I bid you farewell and look forward to our meeting in Skald. With that she turns and leaves, walking quickly northward on The Loop. Faint moonlight peeks between the clouds illuminating a pair of guardsmen 60 yards away walking north as well. She quickly catches up to them.

Artanis cannot be certain, but it looks to be one of the same he spotted in the alley. Three more emerge from the fog, surrounding the party and cutting off escape. The cleric shakily readies her mace and shield…

1 hex is 5 ft across. The wolves are considered Large creatures. I will be shrinking the ‘small folk’ tokens a bit for perspective once/if the party closes into melee. The inn is not on the map, it is still 100 yds or so East.]

"I can probably get one." Aiming for the northern wolf she let's off a web spell, trying to catch it between the two buildings. She'll place the spell so it gets the most depth to slow it.
"Art, Elsa try to cover the caster's, this is my last useful spell... Pyros.. tell them: Vous les chiens puants laid!.. let's keep together, watch your backs.. and don't get bitten." She adds with a note of sadness.

Artanis merely shrugs at Mira's reprimand.
At the sound of the wolves he goes on active alert, scanning the area for their positions. Once he has the visuals, he decides on two possible courses of action. If there is enough plant growth in the area, he will cast "Entangle" on the wolf to the west (assuming that north is up on the map - west will be the one closest to him) If there is not enough plant growth, he will draw his swords and prepare for battle.

Cal acts first, dipping into his components pouch and pulling out a much-used patch of fleece. Tugging the corners he rapidly recites the words, the threads of magic working easily for him as the familiar phantasm appears. Between the buildings to the north a square patch of earth crumbles and shifts as lava bubbles up from the ground! The sides of the building smolder and smoke as grass nearby catches fire. The massive wolf beyond snorts and paws at his nose, backing away from fiery death.
Artanis draws his magical longsword and retrieves his holy symbol, a silver Elm leaf coated in green enamel with a brightly polished star clean in the center. He offers his prayer to the Lady of the Forest. An odd sensation came over him, as if he were calling to someone far away...as if there was a... barrier... an obfuscation... almost like a fog lingering between him and Mielikki... yet she answered. The grasses and small plants by the side of the road elongated, weeds between the cobbles pushed the hard-worn stones aside. Greenery from every direction clambered up with but one purpose, ensnare the wolf. The now vine-like ropes of grass and weeds snaked around the approaching canine. At first it seemed not to notice as it began to run, that is until a particularly thick cable of greens tripped a foreleg. The others were upon it now, wrapping and enveloping it like a mass of constrictor snakes! A vicious growl emerged from somewhere in the green. The ranger calmly drew his second sword.
Before Elsa can react, the large wolf to the south came rushes up, snapping it's slavering jaws down on Cal! The Gnome, fortunate to be able to finish his spell first, is caught sideways. Dagger like teeth sink into his torso, and the 3 foot Gnome fits neatly into the creature's mouth like a rabbit. Cross throws Gar ar the horse-sized wolf, but his aim isn't very good and the magical dagger sails past. He quickly calls, and Gar comes leaping back to his hand. Elsa steps up, pushing the muzzle away with her shield and smacking the wolf on the end of the nose with her mace! The blow does little damage, but it startles the wolf enough that he drops Cal. Mc whiskers peeks out into the face of the snarling wolf and quickly burrows even deeper into Cal's pack. Elsa takes the Gnome's place on the front as he falls back again. Let's see how well you mutts do when it's an even fight! she half-shouts at the huge dog in front of her.
Mira begins her own spell, retrieving a sticky ball of web from her pouch. Rolling it between her thumb and forefinger, she flicks it over the illusory lava; a thread of magic carrying it dozens of feet away. The tangled web sprung outward like a gummy explosion, strongly adhering to the walls of the buildings nearby. The wolf, already backing away from the lava, sprints between two structures just as the web forms. It circles the nearby building, and approaches from the East.
Pyros fishes out a pair of sling bullets and whips one at the entangled wolf, striking it in the head and eliciting an angry snarl. It struggles to be free, but remains trapped. The final beast rushes Mira from the east! She has time to cast her spell, but the huge wolf catches up to her soon after. Snatching her leg it hauls her off of her feet, trying to drag her away from the group! She draws Bakki's short sword and hilt-bashes it in the snout several times before it finally releases her. She scrambles backwards, shakily gaining her feet; blood streaming down her hip and leg. Pyros loads up another sling bullet and wings it at the tangled up wolf; scoring another hit. The wolf from the north pads up beside the eastern one facing Mira. The pair begin to divide, moving in low stances and preparing to come at her from either side...

With both weapons drawn, Artanis will quickly and stoically move to attack whichever wolf is closer: the one to the south where Elsa is, or the one enjoying a late night snack of sushi bard.
