Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
Tanulan takes a sip of wine and grins broadly at Liri, as if sharing in a joke. "My dear, whether one object to being used or not is of little consequence. We all, at times, must do things we would rather not, had we the choice.
"From the little I have learned of you people so far, I strongly suspect that if I were to turn you loose out there on the street, without guidance, you would quickly pick a side and make a stand. Particularly this one," he gestures towards Angel. "And if you were to make the wrong choice, or attract the wrong type of attention, things might get ugly."

"No matter where you go, there you are."

"That makes me a problem then doesnt it?" Angel asks after a long time of silence, she tries to avoid getting annoyed with the thought of Liri and Tanulan.. "Fine, we made a mistake, no I made a mistake.. We left Master Fraso to get taken." Taking a seat near the window she frowns. "Regardless I am not here to be used."
" Kid never learned to clear a room. Doors and corners, I told him. Doors and corners."

"We all make mistakes. If your Fraso is still alive, then no harm was done. If not, then this whole tragic tale is even more tragic, for it will have happened for nothing.
"But here we are. You are all part of a bigger game now, and there is no backing out until it is done.
"And do not fret. everyone gets used, one way or another."
The crunch of gravel outside heralds a new arrival.
"And just like that," Tanulan says. "Lucius, what news?"
"The people you sought have been found. They had taken shelter in the tavern. The bald one was uncooperative, and had to be subdued. They are on their way here now, under guard."
"My orders did include the word 'politely,' did they not?"
"Yes, Primus. That is why he was subdued rather than killed."
"Very good. Lucius, find us more chairs, will you?"
Tanulan takes another sip of wine, then puts his glass aside still more than half full. "I expect they shall be here shortly. Meanwhile, someone tell me a story."

"Perhaps we disagree on that point." Angel relaxes slightly her posture becoming less tense, still her arms are pulled across her chest as the news of Fraso's discovery was announced.
"Perhaps Liri might tell a story, nothing I could tell would be suitable." She gives Liri a half smile.

"A story..." Liri muses. "Storytelling is not my strong point. That was the passion of my grandmother, and no one near her got a chance to practice. But let me think, I might remember a story seldom told, and that might be unknown outside our community."
She thinks for a while, and it is clear she is not going to lett their story, Tanulan not having earned her trust, rather the contrary.

Prattling fool. Self-indulgent, trumped-up twerp. Ari thinks to himself.
Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
"I know a story!" Galanis says, "But it is better told while dancing in a ball with a pretty lady." he grins. "Do you plan any in the near future?"
Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
"I think anything you could tell would be just perfect." Angel smiles, and glances at Galanis.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
"Well... have you heard the story of the 'Crippled Pegasus'?" Galanis asks, his features full of mystery and a glitter in his eyes, almost as when he had the story telling for the children. "I didn't think you did. Only a few heard of it and as far as I can tell they are all very far from here..." he stares at the wall behind Angel while his memories rush back to his childhood and his friends from long ago. "You would think it is a fairy tale but some philosophers think it is a very deep metaphor all man could learn a lot from." he gives a prologue.
"Many years ago, the world was quieter and simpler. Some would argue it was more civilized even there was no humanoid civilization back then." He pauses for a second pouring himself a glass of wine.
"Back then there was plenty of food and nature flourished. The wild animals were healthy and strong. Water was found everywhere and the vegetation was colorful and varied. Among all this prosperity, lived the Pegasi. There were many wild herds of Pegasi, each spreading over thousands of square miles or even cubic miles taking into account they were flying most of the time, and they were graceful, wit and kind. Unlike these days." he gives a very short occasional look at Tanulan but his eyes continue shifting to the other persons quick enough before the hint would become too obvious.
"And so the Pegasi would fly above the rich grounds, their young play in the sky and the older would guide the group to vast feeding grounds. At times they rested the old Pegasi would teach the herd through the story of their origin, the wisdom of life itself and the ways of the world. The legends tells the first Pegasus was created from the foam on the highest waterfall in the world, originated at the sky at the fortress of the gods, by the bidding of Falkugan, the great shaman-god to defeat Tulana the witch, a woman you wouldn't want to cross no matter what. In fact that is pretty much true for any woman." Galanis jokes, "The truth is that Pegasi existed since the beginning of time as friends of the gods. Indeed one of them helped slaying Tulana by letting the great eastern warrior Hyd'ruk'Nam come from above her without her notice. This indeed happened in an ambush set near a distant waterfall and that might have triggered the legend."

"I meant your story. Your version of this situation. Before I have to hear the official version from the necromancer."
"No matter where you go, there you are."
Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
"I do not see in which way the story I told would be different from the necromancer's" Liri answers with a shrug.
She was not going to tell Tanulan just yet that it was often difficult to conctrate on Master Fraso...

"You must understand.. Liri joined us later, then Galanis.." Angel speaks after a while, "Plus.. Everyone has a unique perspective on a story."
"I believe the only unbiased view would be Master Frasos, I can tell you that we encountered creatures that I have never seen.. They killed one of our own in cold blood."

"Err... does it mean you don't want to hear the moral of MY story?" Galanis face falls and he goes to grab more food. He walks near Liri and whispers in her ear, "I will continue telling you the story later. You of all people can appreciate it." he smiles and a naughty glitter returns to his eyes.
