I might be more use up front, Elsa says, readying her mace and shield. Besides, you aren't even wearing armor. she reminds the bard. On the North West corner of the intersection stands a single-story building with a short row of steps leading to a pair of sturdy but plain double doors facing the road that runs North. While there is one large window near the entrance, the rest of the structure seems to be windowless. The constable quickly ushers everyone inside.

The front room contains a small, very worn table surrounded by several chairs. People seem to have left the room in a hurry, for the chairs have been knocked over and a deck of cards has been scattered across the table and floor. Several mugs of beer rest atop the table, two of which have been overturned, filling the room with the pungent aroma of hops and barley. A small fireplace is set in the wall opposite the table. While it may once have held a fire capable of warding off the chill that permeates this place, it holds nothing now but smoldering embers. A pair of thick oak doors has been set into the north wall. They look strong enough to keep even someone stronger than Yasir at bay. The doors they just entered, far less formidable looking, lead out of the jailhouse to the east. A single window placed beside the entrance allows just enough light into the room to make it gloomy without a fire in the hearth. Lastly, a light weight door leads off to the west. It is set on hinges that allow to open in either direction and has no latch or locking mechanism.

Jaconoss a cruel man and a criminal. He is very physically powerful, maybe as strong as your friend here. he gestures to Yasir. He's dangerous... maybe you should leave the kids here... He says, nodding to Pyros and Cal. Beside the door to the north stand two guards in leather armor with short swords. Mira recognizes one of them as Devon, the young man she met earlier. Both of them have weapons bared and grim expressions as they watch the North doors. Devon and Baki there will lead you in. I don't want you folk hurt, so let them do their jobs and if they need assistance you can step in. Yasir strides over to the guards and claps one heartily on the shoulder, Fear not, lads, he says in common, Reinforcements have arrived. He stands with his sword ready, and Elsa takes up a place not far behind.

"Of course, I'm so used to doing everything by myself." Mira admits, "Don't suppose someone could lend me a blade?" She asks as the two warriors wait to enter the north doors. "Let's hope this is over quickly.. I'm playing in the hour." She offers to Devon, trying to lighten the situation.

"Pyros & Cal.. They aren't from round here. I dont have time to explain." Sword or no sword, she prepares to enter.

Artanis has his swords drawn and ready and will go where directed by the guards. He offers the silvered longsword to Mira: "Can you use a longsword? If so, you may use this one."

Pyros listens at the door as the party prepares, but hears nothing. Devon gives Mira a small smile and the guards push open the doors. The interior walls of the hall are all made from hardwood, stained dark brown or black with the passage of time. The smell of lamp oil fills the air and it soon becomes obvious that much of the coloration on the walls is soot. As you walk through this area you cannot help but notice that the dark wooden hallway ahead is interrupted by a series of solid looking iron portcullises. On both sides of the hall are thick wooden doors with small, windows set in them. Only darkness is visible through these windows, but there is an odor of rot and decay-the smell of death-drifting into the area from beyond them.

The hall is only 5 feet wide, barely enough for two abreast to move and use quick stabbing motions. Artanis realizes that he'd have to have the full width of the hall to employ his longsword. The jailor rushes off into another room, and after a minute or so the portcullis raises smoothly and quietly. Ten feet beyond a second portcullis raises, and they can see that the hall turns to the left here. The guards immediately start down the hall...

Artanis follows the guards. The ranger is not comfortable in such close quarters as it negates flanking movements. He takes in the surroundings, his mind wondering what type of prisoners do they keep in here.

Pyros will tail Yasir closely, trying to stay in stride with him, at most hoping you might see him as a shadow of Yasir, if you were to look closely.

Once he sees a nice darkish area, he will try to hide in shadows and move silently.

As the party follows the guards forward, the first set of portcullises closes behind them. The guards don't seem concerned at all. What? Elsa begins in Harmonian , one of the few words she knows. So he doesn't get by us. Baki says, as the guards lead farther down the hall. Around the corner the party sees another portcullis which opens. The hall turns left again, and the guards waste no time moving forward; Yasir right behind them. Pyros looks for a likely spot to hide, but the hall is so narrow he can't find anything yet... perhaps around the last bend...Artanis muses about the cells themselves and Cal prepares his sleep spell. Elsa, with a look of grim determination making her pretty face look quite stern, follows closely behind.

(Backtrack.. "I never really practiced with a longsword. I always found myself getting over balanced...)

Mira keeps her position near the back, her dagger drawn and a web spell on her lips. "Something is wrong Pyros.. Something.. Keep your eyes open..this looks like a trap." She comments in Kender, tapping Artanis on the shoulder she shoots him a look of worry.

"Thanks." Tightening her grip on the dagger she motions to Devon. "Looking forward to the performance?"

Hmm? Devon said, distractedly. Oh... I'm working tonight, remember? he said, giving her an odd look, but his expression softens. Maybe soon, though... he turned back to his business.

Despite the tenseness of the unfolding situation, Artanis is able to chuckle at some of the comments that have been made. Overbalanced! Yes, some of the female folks have that difficulty, and using a heavier weapon only adds to the "overbalance".

The Ranger quickly refocuses on the task at hand, although he still chuckles.
