I concur with both of the above comments.

The Mon/Wed/Fri thing sounds good to me. I know what you mean about getting settled, it can be a pretty big acclimation from tabletop to PbPost. I actually began PbP for the first time a year ago (almost exactly) on this site; though i'd DMd for nearly 20 years before that... damn i feel old all of a sudden...

Got it, y'alls :)

Okay, so official posts by moi will be mon, wed, fri and when all have had sufficient time to react IC. With conversations happening as long as they don't actually concern others not in said conversations (which makes perfect sense).

Just to take a poll what flavor of campaign do you guys like? Investigative/mystery, hack/slash (this is copious in my world fyi, in case you hadn't noticed), espionage/intrigue roleplay intensive (e.g. drama,, emotions, philosophy, ec). Just curious.

I like to be surprised.

I also like to be challenged RP wise, so if I make a hack/slash character, making them fit into an intrigue setting is fun.

By the time you got to contemplate and have a philosophical inward debate whether taking vs. not taking shot was best move, halfling disappeared in the tall sea of swordgrass. You could take the shot but would have easily missed. You can roll a d20 but you'd only be shooting into grass with no visible target. Arrow isn't same as sniper rifle :)

Here I rolled an 8 for the shot, you shot an arrow into a weeping willow...nothing happened, you might have alerted the halfling (or not).

Yeah lol I just like shooting stuff.

Not taking the shot is the best option.

Oh and there's a ton of vines in the way on top of which, like a curtain of them, yeah.

Ah the thrill and fun of peppering pincushions with missiles is too addicting :)

Does Delilah get wind of any of the issues Idrys is running into?

Lol. Idrys just makes friends everywhere he goes

But seriously, most of his trouble is intentional on my part. I'm trying to play him as a brash youth with few but strong loyalties. He also does not tend to be very subtle in social situations that aren't related to work/spying/disguise.

As all the following scenes happened while I was at work, I'm a little perplexed at the lack of opportunity to react. It seems as though things have been decided will happen regardless of player (ok my) intentions.
spike wrote: Myrion groaned as you stepped on his foot. Then he began casting his magic 'Alagoth nyriokolmar ombray!'
The mage revealed an empty box, 'she's gone to another plane of existence people!
Assuming this was magic, no chance of a saving throw? Karlane certainly would have resisted as she's taken a dislike to the magician; (and, yes, I know Teleport usually requires a Touch.) If a trapdoor had opened under her, Karlene would have screamed. If a false floor had lowered silently, she might have said loudly "Going down!" It would have been nice to have had a chance to react. I Silence spell is likely to have been noticed.

spike wrote:Moments later Karlene materialized in a puff of smoke, smiling and bowing to the crowd. Her eyes met Idrys and she strode up to her brother in a warm embrace 'I'm afraid I'm weary, I've no head for wine this night dear brother. I'll retire for the evening, good night' she heads back up toward the hut.
As Idrys has been keeping a petty close eye on Karlene, doesn't he get a chance to see that she hasn't actually had anything to drink at all?

spike wrote:Delilah: Narn enlists you into the beauty pageant, the second round of archery contest, test of agility obstacle course, strength, courage, and the drinking contest.
Beauty contest: you win! The other hopefuls scowl and look angry but some are happy for you.
As Karlene declared she would enter the Beauty Contest, thus:
Chris1234 wrote:Karlene tells Narn, "I'm happy to do both things, but, to be honest, it's to try and increase your standing in your community that I'm doing it. Sortof like a thank you for your friendship.I'm sure you'll understand. By the way, if a knife thrower does me significant damage, it wouldn't sit well with my brother. He's quite protective, you know."
At appropriate times, unless anything else pressing crops up, Karlene will enter both contests. Her keen ears will be absorbing gossip and information throughout.
So doesn't Narn smell a rat by Karlane not entering the enter the Beauty Contest (and thereby tell Idrys)? Not sure if Idrys heard her say she would enter the Beauty Contest, but if so he certainly should get a chance to react. Same goes for the Knife Throwing event - doesn't Narn smell a rat by Karlane not taking part? And similarly I'm not sure if Idrys heard Karlene say she would do the Knife Throwing thing, but if so he certainly should get a chance to react.

Additionally shouldn't Karlene get a chance to react to what you PMed me before it was deus ex machina?

If this stuff is essential to the plot and you need me to go along with it, PM me and I generally will with good grace. I think Tristen could confirm this, he's GMed me for a while.

While I'm having a moan, unless my memory is playing tricks, only the other day you said that you'd post Mon/Wed/Fri apart from possibly single PC/NPC conversations. Well today is a Thursday. And this this is certainly not a "single player only affected" other than by virtue of the GM deciding that the players weren't to be allowed to interact.

To be fair, I was immensely enjoying the campaign up to this point. You've done a great job, magnificent job, on the races, setting and inventive twiddly bits.
However, now I'm annoyed and heading towards the disinterested mindset. I want this sorting out please before I post again in the main thread.

Now if I'm overreacting then sorry, but it feels like I was reading an outstanding book for the first time (say LotR) and someone has grabbed it and burnt it and I know that it was the last existing copy in the world. In other words huge disappointment followed instantly with frustration.

Narn's engrossed multi-tasking hosting events and then...an owlbear on the loose he's actually running in terror himself. And as such, he would yet he might also think that you were simply enjoying the festivities and socializing too.

Beauty pageant hadn't transpired just yet before you got into the magic booth.

Karlene detect secret doors roll: 6 failure.
Myrion didn't cast any actual real magic, you fell straight through a trapdoor in the floor of the box and someone lying in wait in the shadows surprises you then covers your mouth with a cloth doused with chloroform.
I did actually roll to see if you noticed someone getting the drop on you who was hiding in the shadows, a perception check (vs. INT: 19) which, had you passed that you would have blocked it with a knife-hand and had a chance to counter attack/react.

Idrys disappeared on side adventures for quite a while sabotaging the billistae, and exchanging notes with the swordsman. At a party, there wouldn't be any reason to suspect you hadn't drunk or didn't drink any wine while he was away doing these different things. I think it would be more implausible to actually think that you didn't drink vs. did. If the lie was something that triggered Idry's's suspicions he would have to react IG since it's his character not an NPC.

Waking up early is actually because you passed a con check at 1/2, and your character is dhampir. Had you been human or other demi-human you would have been out for hours...

don't worry, I never force situations on characters for sake of plot advancement.
