The raven flew off Alzor's shoulder and landed before Idrys on the table, with a scroll in its mouth.

Alzor: 'A contract, if you are prepared to enlist as agents for my house. The terms of which are fairly simple and straight forward. However, it stipulates that you permit a geas forbidding betrayal or willful breakage of the contracts requirements. Of which is simply not to betray my house in any shape or form, to harm one another or to betray one another during the course of your services rendered. I understand if you have an misgivings, however this is simply a precaution and formality. There is nothing unusual that would affect any adversely here"

The contract reads:

I, __________________, in the year of the Silver Wrym (1265) abide to the following requirements for duration of my service unto House Telemvor.

I shall provide the utmost care and due diligence to the satisfaction of the agreed upon outlines of any critical mission goals both primary and tertiary
I will neither kill, corrupt, influence, destroy, lay magic upon members of the Telemvor household without expression permission to do so
I will not seek through magical means to subvert, or negate the effects of the geas willingly
the geas is only that you do not hurt, harm, kill, destroy any member of our household or to seek to participate and engage in hostile reprisal against our house whether through threat, magic, or violence.
Never divulge house secrets to enemy spies
Shall not induct outside members of this circle who may be infiltrators, spies, or assassins seeking to debunk operations unless all within group votes and agrees to do so. Even so such member must swear by the oaths outlined herein and succumb to a geas as well.

I, ________________, agree to the above terms.

By stating Aye the geas shall take effect immediately.

Karlene genteelly consumes a pair of chicken breasts, thinking ~I do prefer white meat.~
When the meal winds up, looking at Alzor she asks, "Do you know what you will induce me with?"

"If nothing specific in mind then it will remain as a promise and if unfulfilled at a time to be decided would place you in breach. Agreed?" replies Karlene with an approximately equal level of obliqueness.

Alzor 'Merely verbalized agreements and such hold little weight and worth I'm afraid. These are standard contracts penned by barristers from Lor. They hold no double edged sword in their signing. Granted a geas is not your typical requirement in most given situations, having it there is to ensure our security so we can have the actual works worked upon and completed. I do not fear or anticipate your willful or even unwilling breaking of these terms"

Karlene looks blandly at Alzor and waits.

If he says nothing within 15 seconds she adds, "Tell me something interesting and relevant that I don't already know and I will sign."

Alzor grinned toward Karlene, smiling and revealing perfect bright teeth. He placed his hands on the table and dips in closer toward her until his eyes met hers. He cleared his throat then said: ''well then my dear, since you put it so forcefully...I took the liberty of inviting your twin brother here to investigate the ruins of Draxcon together in hopes of discovering the truth of your own father's history and secrets, who was said to dwell in castle Draxcon before he was supposedly destroyed. Is that something of interest and relevancy to you? If not, then I suggest go working for house Succundus or the Lord Duke for more 'entertaining' work, perhaps he'll have need of you to deliver a letter to the outer burbs of Lor and bring one back to him. Maybe steal the secret recipes of his rival houses master chefs perhaps' he grinned, then waved a finger and spoke 'just remember that it was your queen who beseeched you to partake in this meet, you're a Nyrian, I'm a Nyrian. The queen herself hails from House Telemvor, so you have a vested interested here. Serving me you serve your own lady"

The mage moved back and resumed his chair then casually called out 'Delilah, please come out here when you are ready' when a hooded female elf emerged from curtained doorway, seating herself adjacent to the woman in shimmering white radiant robes. Alzor said 'This is Delilah of House Stillwater, of the Black Forest Kingdom. She arrived yestereve, and is weary from traveling. She is to be kept safe as she accompanies you, she is a cherished servant of the Empress Isiona"

Twin...! Idrys stood in stunned silence for what seemed forever. Looking to the others in the room, there was no doubt he was the only other Dhampir present. Sloughing off his jacket and settling to his natural 6'1" height, Idrys wiped away the makeup and removed his disguise... I have a sister..?

[Ooc: am I the only one getting a Luke and Leiah vibe from this?]

Alzor turned to Idrys, 'Indeed, though I was strongly advised by the Lorians to not reveal this so suddenly for reasons beyond my simple brain. Not the first nor the last time I've broken their many rules. I came across this secret while doing some thorough research into my families ancient history, your late father was a fighter lord named sir Galdras Lionblade, who it turned out shared some secret lineage with the CatLord according to records. He was a beloved ancestor in Telemvor history. That makes you both scions truth be told, by blood or by deed. Though don't go announcing unto the world you're of noble blood like some bloody fools!" he said in admonishment, laughing beside himself.

Karlene nodded at Alzor, "That will suffice. Pass me the document if you would."

She turned to Idrys, "Hello brother. I had _no_ idea."

Idrys stared incredulously for a moment at his sister, his sister! He signs as soon as she has finished, finally finding the wherewithal to speak. Neither did I, though I suppose that was readily apparent... Thousands of questions burned within him, had she known their parents? Known of them? Where had she been all these years? Or more appropriately why had he been hidden away in the middle of nowhere... He needed the answers like he needed air, but he would wait to ask them. It was not appropriate to air their pasts in front of a collection of strangers... We should... speak of things some time soon... nine hells, he sounded like an idiot. Composing himself more appropriately he finished with a simple, I look forward to working with you.

The brown haired warrioress Kessa eyed both Idrys and Karlene for a moment, then said 'You mean to say you both are only now meeting for the very first time and discovering you're kin?!' she said incredulously, amazed. She turned her gaze to Alzor, 'hell of a start to a mission, wizard. You have piqued my interest, I will join with these others"
Alzor turned to Idrys and Karlene, then to John and finally looked at Delilah (the female Elf) 'you must say 'aye' verbally to enact the geas"

Once contracts are signed, the magic-user collects them and hands them to the ranger beside him, who along with the white robed lady exit through the curtained doorway saying 'good fortune in your adventures to come'.

The mage smiled and poured each a drink, the large glass bottle hovered through the air as an unseen servant poured your drinks for you, 'Let us have a toast to solidify this arrangement. I have great faith and monies vested in this. Here's to your success and triumphant return, and to much wealth as much as glories had!' he laughed in earnest and slammed his glass down. Then he became serious, despite a bit tipsy from a glass of Elven firewine. 'Do not come and go frivolously from the Inn, egress through the secret tunnel in the storm cellar, adjacent to the wine cellar sub-basement. There is a hidden stable there and you may each choose a mount for your own use. If you should become separate for loose, have the mount killed in battle the cost will be deducted from your salaries. I would save up your coppers, the steeds will require barding for an adventurer's life. These horses were foaled in the horselands, to sayt hey are expensive would be a misnomer. Guard them as you would one another, I beg you"

The night progressed uneventfully, and at behest of Alzor who wished to keep a low profile as best as he knew how, he requested that each of you room in a single yet luxurious room fit for visiting Lords and Ladies. Despite the inconvenience (and awkwardness) you each gain a very decent nights rest, a hot bath, and plenty of left over food that was still edible and every bit tasty.

Morning came swiftly, you're greeted by a hung over Alzor in the commonroom and provided a breakfast of poached quail eggs, fried bacon and toast, coffee, scones, and strawberries. Alzor: "This portion will lack the horses, you'll be going into a bog within some patches of forest. Kessa will take you to Twighlight Glen an hours march through the wilderness. Commence your search in a grid there. The spies name is Ash, he's a cleric of Minerva the Goddess of Love, Art, and Poetry. I wouldn't jest too much around him, he's a former assassin for the Black Kingdoms prior to his current position. "

The group digests their meal and makes any last minute latrine visits before heading out. Kessa takes the point and leads the party along a worn road that cuts north through some soft rolling foothills when not twenty minutes along the path she pauses for a break to check her map. After she presses on she called for a stop and then drew two shafts then connected them into a single spear 'draw weapons, something is amiss, enemies lie in wait!'

A cadre of seven men clad in charcoal grey uniforms head to toe erupts from hiding places in the shrubs, trees, and some bursting out of the ground. However they weren't wise to the presence of the party and look to have been rehearsing an actual ambruscade. Caught with their pants down by the party. Literally, one of the men drops his trousers and begins depositing large logs of excrement until he realizes that you've arrived on the scene. "What in the crap!' he roared excitedly.

The party gains the upper hand (initiative) declare your actions. You've surprised this group of suspicious beings for 3 rounds.

Kessa yells 'HAVE AT THEE!!!!' angrily, twirls a bola letting it fly at the leader it ensnared and wrapped around the leaders unprotected neck. He falls to the ground suffocating. Kessa grinned, smiling to herself as she prepares to loose her spear at their leader 'take the leader down, shatter their confidence as well as their numbers!' she shouts.

As Delilah knocks and looses arrows at lightning speed into legs and shoulders(trying not to be lethal at this point) she will shout. "Drop you fools, or your life will be forfeit to the Empress!"

Initiative, Attack, Attack, Dmg Dmg: [1d10] = 10 [1d20] = 18 [1d20] = 9 [1d8] = 1 [1d8] = 1

Idrys draws his twin longswords, twirling them expertly and closes with the nearest one, attacking him with both in a flurry of blows.

[I'll let you do the rolls if that's ok. For reference is the double specialization attacks/round 3/2 with the main hand and 1 with the off hand? Meaning 2 attacks this round (1 Right 1 Left) and 3 next round (2 Right 1 Left)? I'm a little shaky on wep spec rules in 1e
Longsword Thac0: 16, dmg 1d8+4
(longsword double specialization, ambidexterity, 2-weapon fighting, Str bonus)]

no need to roll initiative since party already gained surprise.

One of the masked men laughed at Delilah, 'you shut the hell up you elven bitch, we're the Killer Bee clan it is you who ought drop your weapons and tremble in fear!'

Just then your first missile grazed across the leader's bicep (for -1 hp) and the later missed, he laughed 'hah hah, you pointy eared bitch you'll pay for that!'

@Idrys: for 3/2: It's 1 with main and 1 with off 1st round, then 1 with main following round. The first round your second off-hand attack comes at the tail end of the melee end of the round (e.g. your first attack is beginning of round, your second is end of melee round)..

Idrys rushes toward the leader, but two of his fellow 'killer bees' are in front of him.

Idrys rolls a pitiable 8, your blade missed its mark, causing the hoodlum to laugh. Since it's a surprise round your follow up off hand attack cuts the hooded assassin's head clean from his shoulders (critical natural 20: 96%)

Kessa ran forward for momentum and hurtled her spear into the suffocating leader, skewering the man as the spear pierced the leaders abdomen killing him where he stood. Whether from strangulation or spear it was difficult to decide, his face was red as a lobster from the bola wrapped around his neck like an octopus.
