Borderlands II - This is the current game thread

Second Edition AD&D

A gritty "low-fantasy" game in which the line between right and wrong may occasionally blur, set in a non-canon Greyhawk-based world.

Moderator: Stik

Forum rules
Players should expect to post two to three times per week. 

Players should have a working knowledge of Second Edition AD&D

Experienced adult/mature players are preferred.

No munchkins allowed, and min-maxing will be frowned upon.

Core rulebooks and "Complete" series books will be used.

Liri shouts "Beware of my darts!" and fires another round (same target)
dart attack [1d20] = 6, [1d20] = 18, [1d20] = 17, damage dart 2 [1d3] = 3, damage dart 3 [1d3] = 3
Seeing her darts hit the target, she gives a high-pitches cry of triumph.

Grunting in annoyance Angel knocks the Chargers flanks with her knees and shoots off after Z7

ThaCo 15 [1d20] = 20 DMG [1d8+3] = 1+3 = 4 Crit. Finally.. 8dmg?

Suddenly, from past one of the buildings the sound of hooves rises over the din of combat... there is something unusual about the noise... Around the corner of the building near Angel emerges a war-pony bearing a chainmail clad dwarf! Seeing the undead drop, he rides towards the only remaining zombie and hurls his warhammer at it from close range, Back to the earth wit ye, poor soul...

[Ooc: Stik, do you use the basic rules for firing into melee or a modified version?

spells for the day. Stik, you can determine how much of these were spent in the other conflict. He would have used his turn ability for that as well, although I suppose the 'new' undead would count as a different 'encounter' for those purposes...

[OOC] @Jen - Z7 is the one with a broken spine. It's prone, and so pretty much out of her reach from horseback. I applied the attack to Z9 instead.
Damage for a critical hit is rolled/applied normally based on the weapon. The benefit of rolling a natural 20 comes in the form of a chance to roll again and possibly do additional damage. So in this case the damage was 4, but...[/OOC]

Angel swings her blade, connecting with the nearest zombie and cutting away a large chunk of its skull, which already has a pair of darts sticking in it, before Praesul runs the zombie down. When she looks back, the zombie is lying on the ground, twitching feebly, but incapable of moving about.

The newcomer's hammer sails off the mark, and tumbling end over end before coming to rest on the gravel surface of the courtyard.

At this point, there are two animated zombies remaining Both are prone and dragging themselves on their bellies. Given their condition, it would be easy for someone with a long weapon to finish them with a minimum of risk.

The dwarf dismounts, readying his 2-handed sledge hammer he stands before the nearest zombie dragging itself forward. He lines up his shot and swings hard as the head comes within range like a man driving a spike.

Liri draws her gladius again and shouts to Angel "I'll finish him off" before bringing down the blade on Z9.
Attack with gladius [1d20] = 20 ; damage done: [1d6] = 5
In rage and frustration, she hacks at it again. Attack with gladius [1d20] = 18; damage done: [1d6] = 5

[OOC:] Why, oh why do I get these rolls when they're not useful? I don't think I get the bonus attack on someone else...[/OOC]

"Greetings." Angel announces as Liri makes short work of the last creature. "Angel." offering her hand to the approaching dwarf she lets her longsword fall slightly looser.

Seeing the battle is over Galanis comes quickly to congratulate Liri. "Wow! That last shot was of a master!" He smiles for a moment but then turns to Angel, "Should we see if the soldiers need our assistance?" he asks just before calling his horse back to him.

[OOC]There's one crippled zed left - it seems the dice gods hate Tristen as much as they hate Jen. But it's no threat at this point, unless someone really makes a bad mistake, so there's not much point in rolling until someone hits it. [/OOC]

Egg retrieves his dropped spear and carefully lines it up with the last zombie's face, then drives it through. The zombie twitches for a moment, then becomes still.

Now that it is quiet here, it is possible to hear noises from the rest of town. There's still some shouting going on, and cries of distress, punctuated by occasional sounds of combat, but it sounds like the fighting has mostly run its course. A fair amount of smoke coming from the northwest suggests that at least one structure is on fire.

[Ooc: thanks Bish, Jen ;). I thought there was one left (Z10 that I missed earlier) so I wanted to wait until Stik posted]

The Dwarf takes the offered hand in his own strong, heavily calloused grip. His wild red mane poking out in odd directions above his braided beard. Well-met, lass. Arinthulkinzone, but Ari'll do if'n ye cannae remember tha'. When the sounds of combat afar become apparent he snatches up his hurled hammer and hurries to his mount. Pleased ta meet ye all, but it sounds like there's a mite left to do so tha greetins'll have to wait a spell. He mounts up and heads towards the nearest sound of conflict or the burning building (whichever is closer).

Liri looks on as Ari introduces himself to Angel, an amused smile gracing her face when the dwarf turns off to run into the next battle.
"I'll gather my darts and then I'll follow you" she tells the others before bending down to do as she announced.

She will also casually finish off the last zombie with her gladius before calling Casta and following the rest of the group to where the smoke comes from.

As the dwarf heads to aid the combatants Galanis looks at Angel impatiently waiting for he slightest signal the caravan is safe enough and he can follow.

"Thank you for your aid. Egg, if you could stay with the Wagon.." Bringing Praesul to a halt she aims the horse towards the noise.. "Galanis, go. We should do what we can." Checking behind her she makes sure the Wagon is indeed safe before riding alongside Liri. "Edalmus was not with my Blade today."

Galanis, riding his horse, is already picking up with the dwarf as he hears Eggs concerns. 'He might be right... but the people need our help and Angel' a smile appears on his lips, 'allowed it. Besides, I can keep an eye backwards and come if the need will arise.'

Stik, do we see more zombies? If not Galanis (The Mule) will help extinguishing the fire. He can carry a lot of water all by himself. In fact he can push a cart filled with barrels of water to the center of the fire.)
